  • so, it wasnt filmed in DETROIT???

  • It was shot in 1986, guys...1987 was the year of its theatrical release.

    Still an awesome video!

  • Is there any chance to pinpoint these locations.

    1. Dick Jones room. (Which building was it.) ?

    2. The building/ area where both the beasts engage in a battle before robo tries an escape ?.

    3. The building on which the paramedics land with murphy's mutiliated torso in a chopper.?

    4. The building/room shown as the Hospital scene.?

  • @sriramr12 I can't pinpoint but most of it was near Dallas City Hall, Canton, Cadiz , Elm, and Young streets in downtown and Deep Ellum area. The case scene was on the road behind Reunion Arena. I think some of it was made at The Studios of Las Colinas on Royal Lane and Riverside in Irving.

  • Check out pics of these locations and many other cool ones on the web at silverscreensites (dot c o m)

  • cool post guys, got the chance in 89' to see the filming of the final battle scene for robocop 2 in houston. it was in front of the wortham center on bagby street. remember cars on fire and seeing weller in the outfit and the big red banner in front of the building. at the time i was already a fan of the first film so it was pretty neat stuff. downtown was pretty low key back then which ive heard is why they picked houston for filming. the first movie probably the same reason they picked dallas

  • Just in case you guys from Radioactivereviews wanna know that the scene where the two men attacked the helpless woman is filmed on the corner of Cesar Chavez Blvd and Main St. Everything is the same as it was a long time ago the Billboard is still there and the small street where they were throwing bottles at the ground

  • @Hitchhikeroftheyear Cool, thanks. We may have to visit and add that location on a separate video.

  • It's crazy seeing how much things have changed. I think back, though, about how different things looked here in texas back then and I understand why they filmed so much of the first two films here; sometimes you forget how much more miserable it used to appear around here back in those days. It really was a perfect filming location. Thank goodness it doesn't look as bleak anymore, haha.

  • Not the next one well Matrix was filmed in Australia and the new Robocop will be filmed in Japan.

  • i thought it was detroit MI

  • Wow this takes me to the movie. Love RoboCop 1 and 2

  • wow never knew it was filmed in dallas..robocop is classic

  • i go to school down there and i always see that elevater thing

  • Can you guys post the addresses for the locations?

  • Thank you so much for posting this!!! I have always been a huge fan of Robocop and this was very interesting to watch. You guys should have went to the old steel mill factory. I believe those scenes were filmed somewhere in Pennsylvania. It's rumored that director Darren Aronofsky will be remaking Robocop. I don't think he'll be able to top Paul Verhoeven, but I hope it will be just as good as the original. It Would be cool to meet Peter Weller. I heard that he teaches at Syracuse University.

  • @bobguy64 That's the Plaza of the Americas, which is the large black-glass building that appears behind the "police station" in the preceding shots.

  • i love watching these type of videos. thanks for sharing!

  • At last I can see places where movie make

    Good video, 5 stars !!!

  • Where were the OCP elevators filmed? You never mentioned the name of the location.

  • but why the police station now is closed and not used for nothing? why the people can't trapass the perimeter?°_° sorry for bad eng but i'm italian fan!^^

  • Gas station was blow up in the movie:)

  • BATMAN VS NEO?HERE_

  • 2 years ago i was in the us with a friend. We drove around the country, and when we were in Dallas we just went crazy looking for locations where robocop was filmed:)) Thanks for this upload, we didn't find as many:))

  • what happened to the old shell station ??

  • I guess it got torn down. As you can see in the video, the floor tile is still visible in the parking lot.

  • im not going to lie but you guys have done such a good job vidoeing these places... i would love to go to these places.. omg ... the places are soo good .. i would go there if i could go to usa .. im from england.. the places you filmed are soo good .. but im just thinking by the time i can go there they will destroy the buildings including the steel mill :( .. great video guys 1000000 stars.. :)

  • Interesting video. It would be better if you told us where in Dallas these locations are (address, intersection, etc.). Thanks.

  • I don't have time at the moment, but it's easy information to find on Google. Just search "Robocop locations"... I think IMDb even has some of them listed.

  • What I think lankancj meant to say is "Why didn't you tell the address/ intersection of each robocop location as you narrarated your film?"

  • Also, although its great you shown the movie shots as comparision to the real life location, and you probably had time constraints for your movie, but it would've been REALLY cool to use the movie scene instead of the screen shots. Overall, your movie's EXCELLENT!!

  • One other suggestion would to be use additional alternative angles to capture the location as it is in present day. Another is to use soundtrack music particular to that specific location, only at lower volume as background sound during narration.

    I.e: from the Robocop OST:

Track 13- Directive 4 (during visit of Shell Gas Station)

  • Track 8- Across The Board (during police station visit) Since you're unable to enter an abandonded building, I'd suggest using the clip when Bob Morton says "Reed, he needs a car." Reed tosses the keys, Robocop thanks him. Bob Morton says "Oh, yeah, go get 'em boy." And ends the scene as Robocop drives off.

  • Track 12- We Killed You (during the visit of "OCP" Headquarters) Maybe even watching the elevators going up, filming inside the elevator, and filming one of you going up in the elevator for excellent finishing touches.

Bare in mind, some of the names of these songs don't match the songs or their placement in the movie. But you get what I'm driving at.

  • Thanks for the videos it was really interesting.

  • Glad you liked it!

  • Amazing, amazing, amazing.

    Congratulations for authors

    5 Stars !!!

  • Thanks!

  • This was an awesome video, which mall was that?

  • Thanks... that was actually the Plaza of the Americas in downtown Dallas. It's sort of a business building with a few stores and an ice rink on the bottom floor.

  • oh damn i wish i was there

ive dreamed about going to see the locations of robocop 1.

especially the steel mill....it was rumoured it was on ZUG Island... but now someone has stated it was from the Detroit steel mill

  • According to my research, that the steel mill was outside of Pittsburgh. I believe the only real shot of Detroit in the movie was a piece of stock footage of the downtown area.

  • have you ever throught about travelling to the steel mill???

imagine you did and you posted the car scene.... and where the melting man got hit....and the "I got him clarence, i got him"....*BOOM<*

mate, you will be a living legend......

  • If I ever make it to Pittsburgh, I will. I'd also love to go the Monroeville Mall where they filmed the original Dawn of the Dead... : )

  • yeah according to wikipedia

    it was Wheeling-Pittsburgh_Steel mill

do you think you would ever go there and film? or is it just a wish?

  • Great Videos. Did ya'll think about showing the filming 35 like they did on the green screen and Las Colinas Studios? I always think they shot a scene or two in the old power plant area where Victory is now, but can't figure out if they did.

  • Actually that power plant was in PA. We thought it was Dallas until we found some info that showed it was some suburb of Pittsburgh. Thanks!

  • We did this with Johnny.

  • Great video, but I don't see why you needed to bleep your cursing.

I mean shit man, RoboCop is an R-rated movie with plenty of fowl fuckin' language damnit!

    Bah.

Seriously, again, great vid. Love the remarks on the hail damage car.

  • Youtube is apparently cracking down on cursing soon, so we just decided to start bleeping. Thanks for watching though!

  • thank you very much for this very interesting video

    100.0000.000 stars for you ^_^

    Robocop Props Museum.

  • Thanks!

  • yo the Link on Part 2 that links to Part 1 actually links to Part 2

um, that makes no sense, but go fix it lol

  • Thanks. Fixed.
