  • you are the only person i have, and probably will ever subscribe to...

  • i dig the music you always put in the background

  • lol

  • Can't hear that first older guy at all.

  • I live in Bismarck, man!

  • I like the whole interview thing. Great work

  • I helped with sandbagging there. The homeowner was so happy to have the help as my classmates and I surrounded her house with the bags. It's crazy how much water there was. To look around at what is a field in the summer and see, more or less, and ocean.

  • i've never been in a major flood but in '93 there was a big one that happened just down the street from my house, our subdivison is on a hill so we were fine but i remember watching the guys fill the sandbags i was too young to help

  • didnt look that bad. Come down south and see a real flood.

  • Sometimes something good can come from disasters. The ability for people to pull together to help one another when other wise they would not pay attention to one another.

  • very impressive

  • I hate to break it to you, but it is not god, it is rain and snow telling them that.

  • Ah, so true.

  • Phil, I've been digging your art since I found the Bruce Lee one god knows when. I've become pretty disillusioned with the youtube experience (see moronic comments above), yet your art and videos always brings me back.

Thanks for doing what you do and keep on keeping on bro.

    Peace.

  • God is trying to tell those people to get out of Fargo.

  • Then by that logic, nobody should live where there is any kind of natural disaster. No floods, droughts, blizzards, tornadoes, hurricanes, tsunamis, earthquakes, or sandstorms. Good luck finding it.

  • That's absolutely right. And this extremely precise and correct logic comes from drinking whiskey early in the morning with one hand while sticking my finger up my ass with the other while peeing on the dog.

  • I live in Bismarck, Sucks to be fargo, although we almost got destroyed by Missouri and Heart rivers

  • If your in Fargo, just leave, you won't be missing anything.

  • I just moved from there

    they flood almost evey year

I really think they are making a way bigger deal of it than necessary, very few people were evacuated in consideration to other catastrphes

  • Phil, this was a touching, haunting video. Excellent job.

  • ah.. Leave it to Phil to be able to bring his own personal style to the telling of a troubling story - and finding a way to convey both in the video and the sand painting, a bit of the ongoing courage and faith that these folks continue to demonstrate just by getting up in the morning! Nicely done Phil, really.

  • im doing a piece in the style of your work for my art GCSES in england (your my artist that i studied for a year) it is so difficult but really fullfilling (melting 20 big chocolate bars is rewarding but hard work lol) so just saying..... your awesome and one of the reasons i want to do art at university

xxxxx mel - uk -15 xxxxx

  • thank you Phil! the interviews the photos the art, just great.

btw I think that is the first time I have seen you use a paint brush,;)

  • al of his works are so awesome.

I wanna have one of it :'(

  • very creative, well done.

  • hmm. ...wow.

it's really interesting to see this...especially as I got two bloody noses today because of how dry it is where I live. climate sure is effed up.

-great film you've put together (as usual!)

  • i wish the people of fargo best of luck in hopes of rebuilding their lives.

  • dude!!! you stealing their sand....sabotaging the dike

  • Phil, you're an amazing artist. A few years ago, I watched one of your first videos and it inspired me to start drawing. Now I draw everyday and I sold my drawings at a local fair. Thankyou so much :D and the video is great! You have created another masterpiece!

  • As a citizen of Fargo,

    thank you.

I know everyone appreciates anything and everything you've done just as much as I do.

  • hah sublminal red thing at 1:28

  • Have you ever just screwed up in the middle of a piece and had to start all over again? That would suck.

--oh sure. I've done projects I haven't posted.

  • Yeah, i just don't have the patience for that.

  • Great video!

I am curious: Were they family members of yours?

Always a pleasure to find one of your videos in with my subscriptions! Keep up the good work! :)

    Great video!

I am curious: Were they family members of yours?

--friends of friends of friends. good people, really nice to take the time out of their day. wonderful of them.

  • To you people saying Global Warming isn't real:

There is evidence that it is.And even if it isn't, all the smog and and smoke and other pollution isn't good for you.

    To Phil:

    Wonderful!I loved it :)

  • This didn't happen because of global warming, it was because of a weird season, constant snow, then a short warm streak melted it all.

  • You are my favorite artist! You always come up with something new and it always makes my day how u can turn every day stuff into an art piece. Phenomenal!

--the next one will be a kick.

  • for all of you screaming global warming, that may be part of it but why would you build a house below the river level and build it on a flood plain that naturally floods every 10-20 years. i scream common sense!

  • global warming is global bullshit. our erth will suffer a another ice-age (not a big one)! the sun shows it clearly.

  • Can we all say "global Warming" together children?

  • yeah yeah that shit is fake. it all goes in a big circle it gets hot then cold hot and cold ect.

    screw al gore

  • but its getting hotter (and if your theory is correct) colder than it ever has befor which is a concern

  • finally someone who sees this the same way i do...look at our history people...100 years ago this happened....its called nature....our homes arent there by nature but water and earth are...its your fault your in the waters way.

  • its hotter than its ever been

  • Even so, you really can't deny the fact that it's a good idea to have cleaner fuels. Which could play a part, I would much rather play it safe than one day find out that we are all fucked.

  • well yeah! we should take care of our earth that is true but its the idea that the world is going to over heat and melt down because of what we are doing to it is stupid. look at the history of the earth its fluctuating. and its not hotter than it ever has been. there have been records wayy hotter than it is now.

  • yeah for the past 15 years the global temperature went down .5 degrees.

  • i dont really think the hotness melting the earth's polar ice caps it's what nasa is doing to the ozone layer and from breaking it up little by little and gases are let in causing it to happen thats my theory so dont go all nerdy and be like bitch your stupid and shit it's just what i think

  • LOL dude.. NONE of what you just said made ANY sense..but i get you,man .you got your 'theories'. stay strong lol..

  • kroos87, that is a really good thought. the earth is obviously getting warmer, and there is no real proof of whether or not humans are causing that. but either way, why create more pollution and trash the earth unduly when there are alternatives? I'm sure we'd all rather have a flooded earth with pristine air and clean land than one full of smog and garbage, devoid of natural resources, etc.

  • Thank you, you were along the same lines as I was thinking. I'm not sure about the science behind it or the weather patterns. I just know it's our earth and we should take care of it. The more we complain that it's 'bullshit' doesn't help anybody, might as well work on it. Get cars that use vegetable oil, spend more time outside and bring community to the world through turning off televisions and lights. ahaha but hey, I'm a hippie right?

    thank you for the response.

Can we all say "global Warming" together children?

    --wow. look what this started.

  • I didn't know...lol I guess that's what I get for posting an innocent opinion on the web...esp youtube :)

  • I like the arguing instead of the conversing.

I really enjoyed this, it's really well done. I enjoy the editing and film work that are incorporated to make an interesting art form.

  • i knew that this was going to be a controversial topic lol

just stated my opinion and i knew everyone had to post theres

  • It's funny how you all react to an opinion...I like the use of cuss words also...It shows your intelligence :)

  • Phil, your hand hard at work, always at the beatting heart of history. Thanks for sharing those images and you pea-gravel crossed fingered figure of hope.
