Finally, understand that farmers who don't sign leases do so after deciding the deal is not in their best interests. Your speculation that this is just "sour grapes" is just dismissive of people who do suffer real impacts from industrialization of their rural community. But at least you have sympathy.
Zig... Landowners who sign lease options are legally prevented, under the terms of the lease, from saying anything negative concerning the lessor, the agreement, or the operation. This is considered "standard practice" in the wind industry. The same clauses apply to anyone who ends up settling with a wind company through the house buy-out. The benefits to the wind company are: 1) end of the complainants issues and more importantly 2) removal of the complaint from public record
That's too bad, but I bet the landowners with turbines built on their property are not suffering the same problems. It's a psychological issue because he's not making the kind of money that his neighbors are making from the project. In any industry involving energy there will always be winners and losers. At least with wind the environment wins.
