Man I am just out of words I assure you that you saved lots of people with this tutorial! MAN! A TUTORIAL of Highway Star Lord's solo... its unbeliveble You are a Hero man, i mean it! And what about those cheets you have? Where did you buy it? mail me! dantarez@gmail.com A Hero man! A Hero!
La parte de los arpegios está mal! sea de la partitura o no está mal, hace la tercer inversion de La menor (no la 2da) y no hace lo mismo con los demás acordes...Saludos.
Kiddies should understand you are using the "easy" sheet music. Happy that you have posted this (as a keyboardist, rather than all the gtr tutors) but your "organ sound" is gonna make the guitarists laugh at us (try any Roland VK-series machines), and your fingering is atrocious! Also, the arpeggios are LOWER HARMONY INVERSIONS that should be played with the true melody line. Try: Am(root), E(1inv), Gm(root), D(1inv), then do all the next F and Dm arpeggios 1inv higher.
@PoffyTheCucumber -CONT'D: The LOWER harmony arpegs that you play here should be played with the LEFT HAND while the right hand plays the upper inversions I stated above. (That's what creates that "flutish, flapping" sound in the recording.) Also, your very first rundown (D-Db-Bb-A) has a quintuplet figure thrown in. Thanks for the effort tho - it might encourage more keyboardists to ROCK. (But first, with all respect, please find a better HARD ROCK ORGAN sound... :)
@PoffyTheCucumber - CONT'D: Also note that the big "swishing" sound after the last chord bang is created by BANGING THE HAMMOND WITH YOUR THIGH. That sound cannot be created any other way, except by the reverb springs inside the monolithical Hammond B3.
Ryan. very good musical explanation and detail to the solo runs. Hope that you one day will afford to purchace a better Hammond Organ Clone and a video Camera tripod. you are a fine rock music teacher. Rock on !
hey your really good a little slopy but hey, one hand keyboard and one hand camera pretty good though. thanks to you cause this is the best highway star tutorial ive found yet. its helped alot.
any possiblity you might be able to sent me the music notes please? if not thanks anyways.. good job
Hey man great tutorial, i thought it was more difficult, but thank to your skills i got it haha. Can you please send me the sheet? that can help me practice here.
It is very cool of you to pass this info on to other people. Great job too. I'm a long time guitarist that just got hired by a working band to be their keyboardist and I'm trying to cram all of these classics.
Excellent Highway star organ solo demo. I would like you to think about the Deep Purple, 'Burn' organ/synth solo and come up with a tutorial for this. IF YOU CAN....
Many thanks from Thailand musician. It 's help me a lot to play at the right way in this Sunday. I will keep my eyes open to see what is going on in this page.

Hi, remember me? I forgot to thank you again for that vid. I have mastered HS solo 1-2 months ago, thanks to this tutorial and the notes you gave me :)
Awesome... I tried teaching myself and this helped me fix my errors and fill in the blanks that I was stuck on (such as that part that you called the hardest, which I couldn't agree with you more on) Right now I'm doing part near the beginning with two hands lol. I use my left index to just tap the first note of each sequence and rotate between the other 2 with my right index and ring fingers lol :) Nice Job!
I think it was recorded in two layers, one layer with the E-A-C-E pattern I play in the video, and then an A-C-E-C pattern which goes over the top. It's the same chord, it's just the position's changed (the E is on the top rather than the bottom).
I guess any way would work, I just figured it out that way, and imo it's a bit easier to play (the thumb is more fixed, and the other two fingers do most of the work)
And you're welcome, any rock organ sound should work fine!
very very helpful. I don't think I'll ever get the dexterity or speed accuracy neccesary to play this, but it was very helpful. I'll probably watch it a million times before I get it even 30% as good as you!
I played classical piano as a pre-teen/teen, but I gave up lessons (to focus on classical voice) . I was stubborn and never actually learned proper music theory. I used to play the piano very well, but am now trying to re-teach myself. I'm finding it somewhat difficult on the Korg Triton that I have as its not fully weighted like I'm used to playing.
I've been having lessons for about 8 years now, and I'm being entered for Grade 5 theory this March in preparation to start my Grade 6 work.
I think that if you just started relearning and practising some scales and arpeggios, it would do you a lot of good, theory wise as well as regaining your speed and dexterity.
amm... I'd like to know how long have you been practicising this solo.
Look, I have studied piano for 3 years and now I wanna play the organ in a band with some friends... how long do you think I'll have to practice this solo?
Oh, I was forgeting, congratulations...you are a great organ player... can you give me your email adress ?

Hey, where did you get your notes?
I've been practicing a different version of this (goes A-C-E,G#-B-E...) on GP.
And thanks for this tutorial.. too bad my Yamaha PSR413 does not have Dist effect :(

I figured it out myself.
I think it was recorded in two layers, one layer with the E-A-C-E pattern I play in the video, and then an A-C-E-C pattern which goes over the top. It's the same chord, it's just the position's changed (the E is on the top rather than the bottom).
