  • this is almost exactly what my dad was showing me before we went off to the wushu competitions in NYC, Kaiji pi gua is nice, but I never got around to learn it, i prefer the KaiJi Zhui Hun Zhang or the Nine Lian Jie, more fluid and a little softer. but this is really interesting, didn't know people practice Kaiji Quan in other parts of the world.

  • Wow, awesome whipping power. Damn Youtube, for making want to study every style of kung fu!

  • you said that was the second form? what other forms are there?

  • Good intensity. I can tell that there is Pigua flavor from your movements and your level of exhaustion at the end of the video. However...there's a decidedly non-Pigua tanginess which I find unsettling. Neat nonetheless.

  • sorry but fail no flow strange pauses work on it

  • @spikemore The hell would you know...? Post some videos of yourself flawlessly executing a form before going around casually pronouncing "fail" on other people's vids.

  • Is it tongbei pigua from master Guo Dafa?

  • very nice. i can see that your form is fairly solid. not having much experience with pigua, i must ask: i saw much emphasis on attack and little on defense, is that how pigua works?

  • It looks like you're just waving your hands everywhere.... do you fight with a form like this or is it to loosen your shoulders or what?

  • This is Helena's fighting style in DOA

  • Lei Wulong style from tekken is Zui Quan (Drunken Boxing) and 5 Form Kung Fu

  • could anyone tell me where I could learn pi qua quan. :D

  • pigua = tongbei

  • Not true, Pigua and Tongbei are often taught together. Same with Pigua and Baji. Still not the same style.

  • the more i look at this i can't stop thinking of that cop from tekken the video games.

  • Lei Wulong.

But Ling uses Piguaquan and Baguazhang.

  • Yeah he does use Piguaquan (Witch is like Baguazhang to me) and many many more fighting styles but this still looks like Pi Qua Quan.

  • Is this Pi Qua Quan

  • This is Pi Qua Quan with some Ba Ji Quan, as the two are complementary and go together.

  • i see thank you

  • Pi Qua Quan is legendary..

and it looks like their is baji quan put into the form even though the styles are their own seperate branches of kungfu. I guess since Baji Quan is good for short range, if they are complementary; it sort of implies Pi Qua Quan is longer range and just about everything Baji Quan isn't... or complete each other in stats

As of right now, I only do Baji Quan by itself.

  • nice moves! I learned a bit of pigua-quan myself, but forgot most of it when I moved away from that teacher :-( This whole "secret" around Gongfu is ridiculous. Of course all these forms are made for show-purpose. If you want to fight nowadays, you just use a gun. (sorry to all romanticists who like to think it's different). The second and even more important purpose is to improve your health, that's what gongfu is good for. So keep going.

  • who says guns aren't a part of the martial arts? martial means pertaining to war. Art means self expression. martial arts means a soldier or warrior who expresses themselves through war. I think gun training should be part of martial arts curriculum also.

  • forms like this aren't shown to the public.

  • Where are you learning at? hong kong ?taiwan?

  • U.S. actually. I don't think i've learned anything that can't be shown to other people. I was always under the impression that forms like this are pretty much for demonstration purposes.

  • your hips ,feet and hands end at the same time. shoulders are relaxed and not hunched like how people here in America do plus people like to physically force it thinking they have more power.. i know for a fact that the how you are taught is not shown to the public unless you are chinese or you are lucky.

  • @ace52387 Interesting video. I'm a karate-ka and this is definately different than what I do. Doesn't make either style good or bad, though. One thing that I noticed is that you move behind your techniques i.e. not leading with your chin. Another thing I saw were your weight shifts moving your center off the line of attack before you advance in as well as aggressiveness in dealing with a threat. It's amazing what similarities can be found between two vastly different styles of martial art.

  • dude i like this style but how do you get your hand or palm so hard ace52387?

  • very good form- thanks for posting.

  • Why did you slap the floor?

  • I wonder if Ba Gua and Pi Gua can fuse i wonder what the result will be?

  • The fact that you posted the comment suggests that you already know the awnser.

Pi Gua and Baji Quan were orignally two parts of the same style, however, they were disbanded.

The two arts are supposed to be merged.

  • Bagua is not Baji Quan though, 14mm2. Perhaps maybe jhamp06 ment to write bajiquan, as baji and pigua indeed go together and are still practised in northeast China.

Bagua (Meaning: 8 corners) however is a completely different form of Shaolin Qigong, if I'm not mistaken. Of course they do go together as all gongfu in the end enhances the flow of qi in our body.

  • I've also often wondered if Ba Gua (8-Trigrams) and Pi Gua (Axe-hitch) can be merged... it does seem that Ba Gua emphasizes circling on a vertical plane, while Ba Gua ephasizes circling on the horizontal plane, so maybe it could work out after all. The stancing is totally different though, probably need to put in alot of thought to modify the stancing so that the practitioner doesen't fall over because of faulty balance.

  • Oops, I meant "Pi Gua seems to emphasize circling on a vertical plane"

  • wow... whats with the arm flapping, are you trying to fly?

  • omg soo good!

it reminds me of ling xiaoyu from tekken.=)

    love it!

  • actually it looks exactly like Helena's demo from doa 2: hardcore when she is doing her fight demo which to unlock you have to restart the game several times to get the demos from leifang genfu and then helena

  • ok that too LOL

  • haha i remind you of a 16 yr old girl? That's so flattering.

  • Oooh...I'm gonna sound like a total douche right now but it must be said. I /LOVED/ the flail-y bits :D And you used that move you taught me!

    <--LOVES IT-->

  • Thanks! Pigua is pretty cool, but i doubt it'll help you any in San Da. With the gloves and shuai emphasis, a Pigua like body/arm isn't too useful. I think CLF and pigua do resemble each other, but there's the classical north-south difference. Pigua is wilder, more committed, while CLF is more formed and balanced.

  • hah, that's pretty nice dude. I do CLF myself. I do want to learn Pigua though to get a higher amount of arm flexibility.

  • Who's guy in this video? He's so cool in performing martial arts. Pigua quan is my favorite art. I would like to know this guy. (and the one who catched this video) Hope you post more videos about Pigua Quan... I rated this 5 stars as well.

  • Looks similiar to TongBei.

  • that's awesome stuff man. pigua is definatley one of the coolest styles out there.

  • Yay.... "The way of chop-hanging fist".

I wish I could do that but I can't. Hmm.... what will happen if Pigua Zhang is mixed with Hakkyoku-ken? They say that it would be catastrophic but I haven't seen the real thing in motion

  • It's one of those exaggerated hooks :p. Hakkyokuken is Baji in Chinese, and a lot (i want to say most but i'm afraid to) of people practice them together. So in reality, this is pigua with a baji flavor. Those wuxia like poems about how certain principles or styles of martial arts can conquer the heavens really shouldn't be taken too seriously.

  • Lol... I practiced this style with my friend's uncle for about a month but I stopped since it demands greatly on flexibility and it ain't my thing. I practice Tai Ji now and although they don't resemble much of each other.. I regret that I stopped training this style.

  • Those movements require alot of flexbility an angulation.

  • good brother, their movements have grace.

    please post more your progress

    cheers brother, keeping practice

    sorry for my poor english

  • andy?

  • Your movement is splendid, and it has inadvertently gazed!

  • looks pretty good

  • :3 Very nice

  • I need a trainer for PI QUA QUAN in the west midlands area, does anyone know of someone? I can't seem to find anyone at all
