  • It is said that they are released during this time where it is 2550 years since Buddha's Enlightenment to fulfill prophecy. They will perform their duties as Asuras, Demons which may assume human forms, to cause havoc on Earth. They could be anybody who practice low Dhamma as they could not assume in humans who practice high Dhamma. That is all I have. Please take this at your discretion for we only have life's experiences to guide us. Taking part in Magha Puja help us earn Merits, benefiting us

  • So, one may see Bamboos exist mainly in Asia as Buddhism is most prominent in Asia. However, the other half of Buddha's deciples did not listen to Buddha's words to help spread Dhamma to save people. They have hatred toward Buddha and threw the Bamboos down the river. Instead of helping spread Dhamma, they spread evil and hatred toward Buddha. At the end of their lives, they are born in the deepest level of hell to serve their sentences as due to their karma. It is said that they are released ..

  • There was an Assembly of 5,000 monks ordained by Buddha. I assume it is in this Bamboo Grove as Bamboos are mentioned in this story I heard. Buddha had asked His deciples to go in all directions and spread His Dhamma. As proof, they will take the Bamboo segments and plant them where ever they have expounded Buddha's Dhamma in obedience to Teacher's orders. Out of 5,000 deciples only 2,250 (1/2?) did what Buddha had asked. They planted Bamboos and Bamboos flourish where ever Dhamma exist...

  • Venerable Sir! Please forgive me for sharing my understanding in this regard. I wish not to harm, but to share knowledge so that one may be aware. I have high belief that in coming times, we will be threatened and when our minds are not in checked with Teacher's guidelines, we will be harmed. This is the story I have heard through my parents who have heard it through Lok Ta, whom I am promoting as the next Buddha. Again, please forgive me for any imposition as I may relate further...

  • Dear Venerable Sir! Thank you for this video gift of Dhamma. May I ask as to when are the dates of these events? What are the things one must prepare for the observances? Thank you so much for your enlightenment, Sir! I love the poetic recital of the Sutra very much. I must admit, I would have a hard time understanding without the captions as I am not used to listening to Sutra in recitals, and which they are filled with profound Pali words. Your gift has further expand my knowledge in this...

  • Dhamma Sister reksmay, you are welcome and I am happy you get some more understanding from this video. The Magha Puja Day will be celebrated on Thursday, February 21, the day after tomorrow, every Buddhist Temple and some some of worshiping place such as Buddha stupa...

  • On the Full Moon night of Magha Month (Khae meak in our language) the Buddhist followers bring flowers, candles, incenses and beverage to the temple to pay respect to the Lord Buddha and offer the beverage to the Buddhist Monks. You can go to the temple which is located close to your place.

  • There have many special programs in that night, such as paying respect to the Triple Gem and undertake the Five or Eight Precepts, the Monks chant Paritta, offering the worshiping followers or other worshiping things to the Lord Buddha. and will have singing the sacred song (soth thor bort or soth bort saraphanh) too.

  • Thank you,Sir! I am hindered as there is no Khmer Buddhist temple near where I live. I will observe these events at home and hope for the best. When is the next date, Venerable Sir? Thank you again. :)

  • I am not sure what you ask about, Dhamma Sister. The next date of Magha Puja will be on Full Moon of Magha month next year. This year there have one other important Buddhist Events, it's Visakha Puja will be observed in the next three month from the Magha Puja Day.
