i have to say allowing the taliban to take back afganistan would be unthinkable to allow the fascists to terrorize the afgan people again is horrible.. if you could get a strong afgan government with enough troops to deal with the treat then you can get nato out of there. hopefully that's an achievable aim within the next few years but allowing the country to slip back to the way it was is not a good answer.....
Remember conscription... My god we have to get out of the rest of the world's problems and stop supporting the US's pathetic adventures to secure more oil reserves and protect a wilting reserve currency (Saddam and Iraq and WMD, 2005).

this women aint doing a good job answering questions, obama's agenda and the military's agenda in this war needs to be looked at closer, i think its pretty clear that alot of this has got to do with laying oil pipe lines in Afghan. Clearly not enough clarity on this issue from any source
She sourced Washington Post....She herself is a Pentagon Correspondent.............maybe Pentagon has no transparency that you're complaining about....!
I'm sure they want long-term bases, to have a presence in the region, near Iran, in the former USSR where the US has been seeking increasing influence since they've been able to do so.
The fundamental reasoning has been lost. Why is the United States killing random human beings on the other side of the world when we can't even have a reputable investigation as to what really happened on 911? Why do we continue to murder innocent people for an indecent that was very likely instigated by our own government? This whole thing is preposterous. They are literally getting away with murder. Fuck the United States and fuck the pawn of the military.
@WellIAMScottish wow conspiracy theorists ye are fucking every where i am really sick of ye your not contributing anything productive to the debate... i have had conversations with a lot of ye and it's the same bulllshit. ye there was a conspiracy 17 muslim fundamentalists highjacked planes and flew them into buildings deal with it.
I think that these 'media debates' are choreographed and for public consumption only. The Pentagon are functionaries of the geopolitical strategists, as is Obama. This is smoke and mirrors.
military = big business, hence the more war, the more money that weapons, logistics, aircraft, defense, etc contractors make... and who doesn't wanna profit off the blood of poor people?
oh great, Obama is mulling two options, slaughter people with troops or slaughter people with drones by remote control .
what about the obvious and sane option, withdraw now!!!!! there is no "victory" here, just like there wasn't in Iraq, these wars are just to sell more helicopters he military industrial complex, and to dump american taxpayers money in the ocean so they can't get to it .

1) Full control of the land, including all natural and man-made (or harvested) resources.
2) Population reduction
3) Long term bases
Nuff said.

The US plan for Afghanistan is to prolong the so-called 'war' for as long as possible.
The purpose of the 'war' is not to win, rather spend.
And oh yes what a spend fest it has been indeed, Iraq as well.
It is for this reason that we have been in Afghanistan for 8 years with absolutely nothing to show for it.
In addition, Afghanistan is important to the CIA as this is where the CIA's opium comes from. Opium the CIA uses as part of their operating budget.
Afghanistan for the win!!!
