@XuShoe no actually in the VERY beginning there was always a backboard because it was just a peach basket bolted up against a concrete rafter, a guy would stand in the rafter and if points were made he would reach down grab the ball and throw it back down to the players eventually to speed up the game and save the "extra guy" time and effort a hole was cut into the bottom of the basket

I think he actually gets punished for the fact that he's such a great dunker. NBA GM's get it in their head that all he can do is dunk so they don't even get him a chance. The first college that basketball was introduced was the university of kansas. The Jayhawks were the first to be exposed to this wonderful sport. What city, town, or state was he a resident when he invented the sport? Maybe he was canadian but then why is the NBA more successful than canadian pro basketball?

@mumsdawerd basketball was invented in canada by a gym teacher who wanted his students to stay active during the bitterly cold winter months he invented the indoor sport of basketball originally the basket didnt even have a hole in the bottom of it someone would be in the rafters and pick the ball out of the basket and throw it back down to the court...eventually they just cut a hole in the basket
