I've got a Satellite Toshiba L-670 i5, I had been tolad it was a DUAL CORE but when I see is the performances I see cpu 460, 2,67 Ghz 4 TIMES ! So I'm lost as I saw yesterday the i5 had 4 physical core... Is that different to a QUad CORE?

@G30RG3GR Something is bottlenecking your CPU, the processor itself is good, but that's bad. A program is bottlenecking your computer, definately bad.

Pointless CPU... No reason to exist... It costs almost $200 by the way every cheaper AMD Phenom II X4 can beat it... It's Dual Core and the Intel Graphics are shit! :P

And before people saying: "Wow such good FPS at gaming", think that it's clocked at 4,3 GHz...

And what is the difference between Intel Core i5 660 and Core i5 661? Nothing... :P

This would have been a MUCH better review if the chip had been used with no video card on an H55 based board. IMnsHO, of course. The P55/HD 5770 testbed completely misses the point of the i3/i5 architecture, and especially this chip which has the faster internal GPU.

The ideal scenario for me would have been a comparison between the i5-661 and another low-cost system with a discrete GPU. The key question is whether the added cost of the GPU is offset by the lack of need for a card.

What's up with Intels new name scheme? We all thought Core i3 was Dual Core and Core i5 was Quad Core and now they come out with Core i5 Dual Cores? Core i3 has the integrated GPU and HT (IIRC) so what's the point in calling this one an i5?

@MN12BIRD, the main difference is i3's dont have Turbo boost. The i5's have a higher range of clock speeds overall than the i3's.

Some have good performance but don't nearly exuse the insane cost and if you recommend such stuff, it gets really misleading for future buyers. PC WizKid.. plz don't go that way.

I don't think you can call a pc for HD.

Your screen size can be in HD format, if it at least 720 pixel vertically (HD), or 1080 pixel vertically (full HD).

Ex. my screen is 1680x1050, so i got 720p HD (not 1080p full HD).

...Just for Fun Overclock the Gpu on the Overclocked CPU and see if it games at all ,.... 4.3 ghz is a conservative Over clock , I've read 4.5+ on air...

@mrjamesb56 , oh I know I can go higher to 4.5+Ghz, but people raise the voltage way too high which is inase for this type of CPU. This is a CPU which you need to OC keeping the volates as low as possible, and even at 1.3volts I thought it was too high.

@ CPU: The auto-overclocking thing is a really good idea but it does only really work well if one core is nearly sleeping which hardly ever happens (because of the OS). The length of this comment is limited but (in short) the score does not blast me away...

It should be automatic as far as I know, aka when you are f.x playing a game where it only needs one theard it will activate the turbo boost.

If you try and open up CPU-> you can see the speed changes almost all the time. Its really nice!
