On this date in 1982 {Feb. 13th} "Make A Move On Me" entered Billboard's Hot Top 100; eventually it peak at No. 5 and spent 14 weeks in the Top 100...
Was ranked 84th on Billboard's Year-End Hot 100 Singles of 1982 chart...
It broke the string of 2 straight records by Olivia Newton-John that peak at No. 1; "Magic" {for 4 weeks} and Physical {for 10 weeks}...
OMG OMG ONJ - WOW ! she started the 80's fashion craze ! OMG ! (wink) I love OLIVA then and now. Wonderful lady. Met her in 1989 in Austin, TX and then saw her finally in concert in 2001 (3 days before 9-11), when she performed with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. Paid 70 dollars for ticket. I wore a suit. Had to. Near the end of concert, audience was all hush a polite and I screamed out "I LOVE YOU", (true story), she then ended concert with I HONESTLY LOVE YOU. I'll never forget it.
Olivia was at her absolute hottest in the early '80s. She never looked more beautiful. She looked so hot in this video (Possibly from an episode of "Solid Gold" but I can't confirm that.) that I am willing to forgive her for dressing like a gay pirate.
Immediately after her performance ,...the clothes Olivia wore for her performance TURNED UP MISSING......it was later discovered that ADAM ANT stole them for his video 'Goody two shoes"
She can sing alright but as for the dancing. Fuck god sucks. He is cruel but the little moves at 1:53 rock! God still sucks. Do not haste, he will answer to me shortly.
olivia is gifted with its natural shine, beautiful inside and out, no need for eternal youth to please her admirers and fans, because when he smiles and sings...enchants! but ... always has a young and lively way
Thanks for uploading...the last time I saw this I was a teenager in Los Angeles, CA. This is from a television awards show....either the Grammy Awards or the American Music Awards. I believe all in all, Olivia won 4 Grammy Awards, and close to 10 Favorite Female Artist Awards for consecutive years in the 70s and 80s at the American Music Awards. Those were good times! Unforgettable!!!!
She (or he) went from looking lovely, with some semblance of "natural", warped in an artfully crafted (err, peroxide) nearly angelic fair-haired-gal, projecting a refined, intelligent and sincere image.... to effectively repelling her fan base in an ill-advised bid to remain "relevant" and current, repackaged in 1980s "material girl" loud-brassy-tackiness .... with a whole lot of ... err ... dyke tossed into the mix .... right? Wow -- what a waste ... a nightmare course in self-debasement.
There is no way.. NO WAY you would ever see a "wardrobe malfunction" from an artist of this caliber. As I see it, the more "shock value" you see from today's artists, the less talent said artist has. Olivia is hands down a better artist than most others. Better talent, more class, sweeter personality, more genuine, and a great voice. Too bad we don't have more idols like Olivia! She didn't last long enough. thx 4 the memories O.
@cabeef Absolutely right ! She was ahead of every other female pop star. Adopting such a New Romantic image (Adam Ant, early Duran Duran, Bow Wow Wow). Olivia's hairdo was as hot as popular. Never well regarded, Olivia was pioneer in video-album concept also.
@digiprod1 You are SO RIGHT. LOL. I freakin' LOVE her hair here. I wanted that cut so bad when I was in Jr. High--Mama said , "No way Baby Girl". Dang.
@digiprod1 It comes down the the difference between "pretty" and classic beauty. Don't get me wrong, I think Markie is a spectaculalry attractive woman and is why I watch Night Court in reruns, but Olivia has a more enduring and classic look to her. Her features are better balanced and more "mature" than Markie's. Even as Olivia has aged that beauty has always been there without the need for excessive make-up or other show-biz tricks to keep her looking great. She is "A Natural"!!
@amilheim this was the time when the album physical and greatest hits 2 came out. i think the mullet look looked great on olivia. best hairdo was when she was on the live concert.
@sign84 I made a somehwat similar post on another ONJ video. Mostly the hair style I think as Markie's face is a bit more drawn that Olivia's but nevertheless similar features as well.
@sportshooter101 I think many of us blondes had that same haircut back in those days, LOL. I know I did. It was a bitch growing it out when that trend was over.
This is one of my favorite ONJ songs, and she looks so beautiful here. She was always gorgeous, but I think the whole "Physical"-era look was very good for her.
Olivia is not my fave singer, but this knocked me out. Commercially and artistically, it ws a powerful follow-on to "Physical." Top-five US, where I thought it would hit #1. If there's one lesson to be had in the history of rock-n'-roll, it's that when you're hot you're hot, and when you're not, you're not.
