He must have been thinking a gay man was going to use that butt butter on him...nervous laughter and all. And what about that question about straights men possibly riding. Smacked of HOMOPHOBE from the beginning. No his was not cool. As usual, Scott was gentleman through it all.
@Zipemova1 well... the disease is currently affecting more people in the gay and black communities than any other... that's why it is refereed to as a "gay disease" which isnt totally incorrect, but not the best choice of words.
As someone who has had severe heat rash due to running years ago, that I don't care what the product is called, if it can prevent friction rash & or heat rash from cycling or running, especially the long distances Scott was traveling, use it. You can get even get an infection if your skin breaks open, due to all the bacteria that grows in your sweaty shorts & underwear, in no time when riding running for a long distance. The same goes for your shoes, I'd use a spray & those baking soda balls.

Now if someone tries to force themselves on you, then that's no different than a guy trying to force himself on a women, & I'd expect a women to defend herself, so why shouldn't a guy. The camera man wasn't very respectful, and frankly annoying. I am gay and when I'm talking to straight guys I DON'T FLIRT WITH THEM. I just took him as disrespectful. But Scott, you handled it very well.

However that reporter/camera man, was focusing more on the sexuality of the people riding than the actual reason why people were riding...pulling back to show your bike tights and saying.."that's dandy dude..that dandy". Wow, You only trained for 20 mile before your ride? I know how that is, brother. I don't ride now, but as little as 5 years ago, I was riding centuries every weekend. My first long ride was the MS150 Houston to Austin. And like you, I didn't train much. I had the strength, especially the legs, for the ride. But the SADDLE TIME is what you can't skimp on. So, I rode it through...175 miles, with a bleeding ummm...part. Sounds worse than it was, though. And after that, riding was easy!
Scott, you are a great ally, and your gay fans recognize what you do for us. Thanks a million. You'll never know the true reach of your advocacy because it will ripple beyond just the men who look up to you.
