  • Hi your rabbit is so cute X i am getting a lop eared rabbit on the 31 of sep 2011 and if you have any advice on makeing the rabbit comfortable in its new home on its first day that will be very helpful Xxx thank you

  • great! thanks so much. Im planning on going shopping this weekend so I can pick up a small pan from the petstore then. I also have to get a usb cord so I can post some videos of Emmett on here!! I swear he looks exactly like lou but littler lol well thanks 4 the help!

  • err.. could you tell me how you trained your bunnies to use a box? thxx luv lou and ellie they're adorable!!

  • @xXxBunnieCrazyxXx : Hi! There are a couple of tricks you can use to litter train a rabbit. but really you just have to find what works for you. FIrst step though is figuring out where rabbits typically WANT to pee.. rabbits will usually back up against a wall or pick a specific corner to pee in... once you see that put a litter pan in that spot... try putting the pan in right away and then move it to suite where the rabbit is peeing. *continued....

  • @xXxBunnieCrazyxXx step 2.. put food (hay etc) near or even IN the litter pan.. Rabbits love to eat where they poo... in other words.. eat WHILE they poop... they proccess food and poop as a result SO fast that its a pain to have to go back and forth.. so alot of them wont. so put their food RIGHT in their litter pan .. kibble and water can stay in a bowl since it'll just get mixed in.. but hay.. IN the pan is the way to go! :) *continued.

  • @xXxBunnieCrazyxXx ONce you start training.. STAY on it... put a few little shavings in the bottom of their cage or newspapers down in their area if you've already got them out of their cage... and when the pee OUTSIDE the box.. gather up the droppings and wet materials and put them IN the pan.. and then take vinigar and wipe up any puddles or smells OUTSIDE of the litter pan.. Eventaully they'll start going in there. Some rabbbits take longer but they can all be trained! even adults! g'luck!

  • @xXxBunnieCrazyxXx : ONE last thing... dont put too much other "stuff" around the litter pan... you want the pan and the area around the pan to be very different so that its most comfortable to pee IN the pan. so if you are still using a large cage.. only put a FEW shavings in around the corners to absorb a bit of spare pee... but dont fill the bottom of the cage otherwise its tough for them to tell the where the edges of the pan are. Any more questions dont hesitate to ask me :)

  • how do you littertrain them? plzz tell me how thx :) i love lou

  • Ellie is so lucky to have you! :-)

  • ellie trained up really fast...but not quite as quick as lou because she already had bad habbits... Lou was a baby when i got him and he took about 2 weeks to master it... Ellie took maybe about a month and a bit. ,but that was not only because she was previously a stray.. but because she was exhibition territorial tendencies because of lou... 2 months she was totally solid with it... I've been trying to get a new video done of my buns.. but havent had time... soon i hope! :)

  • to the owner how long did it take to train the rabbit to go into the box and did he pee on our floor

  • We've got an interesting bonding situation in our house. We've got our mature, laid-back 15 lb. French Lop and we got a young, gregarious 5.2 lb. Havana at the shelter 10 days ago. They're going to meet nose-to-nose through the little guy's hutch wires and then it is off to the vet on Thursday for his neutering.

The little guy seems like he was hutch-bound and lonely most of his life so far. It has taken days for him to be outside the hutch and be able to actually calm down.

  • That sounds awesome! good luck bonding them. Its a tough process but worth it. I've been lucky to have ellie groom lou 3 times now.... but most of the rest of the time has been full of fighting or wary staring contests. Ellie is booked for her spaying appointment tomorrow morning at 7:30 am and i hoping that once she's healed things might go a bit easier. The problem is that my other bun Lou.. is a bit of a jerk! :) he tends to rush and scratch first and ask questions later...

  • A cute little fart! Definitely a Holland, I am certain of that. She is more white than Mog but has a similar shape. To think somebody probably dumped her. Beautiful bunny. Good luck bonding them, hope it works.

  • Thanks... we're off to a bit of a shaky start.... I was laying next to ellie's cage when lou came over to check her out... the response i got from him was a whine.. a thump... and total look of betrayal. Ellie has a few bad manners... she's not litter trained and she tends to nip... but she's picked up VERY well.. no struggle at all. I'm betting the previous owners just got sick of her peeing on everything and didnt want to make the effort to train her.

  • Actually she looks like a holland lop and english spot mix. English spots are my favorite breed and I've considered breeding them with lops because the lop ears are just too darn cute. Ellie is a beautiful girl!
