The Amiga is coming back! Except, it isn't an Amiga, it's a totally different computer which the makers have called The Amiga. It could be a new vacuum cleaner for all the name means. Oh yes, and another thing... nobody cares.

+Operating systems take years to mature in the real-world. The likelihood of somebody bringing out a new hardware / OS combination which competes with what's already here is very, very slim.

Actually, PowerPC is being used daily by everyone, in our Cars for example, they are embedded CPU's. Likewise, if you look at Amiga x1000 motherboard, you will realize that PowerPC architecture still has advantages, that one is even today, still unable to get in the mainstream x86 world. If you were unaware, this motherboard has an expansion slot, allowing an Amiga user to add an Additions 256 cores to the one motherboard. Dont believe me, just read up on the A-Eon website. AmigaOS only works on the PowerPC architecture. I rather doubt that it will ever gain popularity, what with PowerPC pretty much dead and Intel and AMD dominating the microprocessor market (as they have for the last 20 years). If Hyperion wants their OS to spread, they will have to make it more portable.

typing this on AmigaOS4.1u2 right now so I guess the future is now ! looking forward to new PPC hardware coming soon..X1000 and Sam460ex :-)
