This was just a "proto-version" they had barrels simulating passangers for testing purposes only.. the plane got seats just not this testing version of the a380.

Despite of you getting quite some thumbs down, I agree with you 110%. It looks like a pregnant whale! It's the nose section that makes this plane so ugly.
this plan will not be as weight restricted as previous 747 usiing the rolls royce engines...those engines were heavier and less powerful than this new one...also the ER and non ER engines on the 747 have nothing on this
Let me guess, you are European? Airbus makes damn good planes. I really enjoyed flying on the A340. Unlike you, I don't let nationalistic idiocy get in the way of appreciating a good product. By the way, the Boeing 787 has outsold the A380 by over two to one.
To be fair your posts are comparing the A380 to the 20 year old 747-400. If you look at the numbers on the 747-8 and 787-9 they are both more efficient per seat mile than the A380. Personally I prefer not to fly with 500+ pass. Have you ever waited to board even a 747? I would take the 787-9 over either, which is more efficient than both in the 290 seat config and still the A380 in the 250 seat. 787-9 is not just a mid range aircraft either with an 8000nm range, same as the A380 and 747-8.
Heute 15.Oktober 2007 liefert Airbus den ersten A380 an den Startkunden Singapore Airlines aus. Ende Oktober soll das weltgrößte Passagierflugzeug in den Dienst gehen. :-)
Wonderful! Let's see that PERFECT plane, a real beauty in service! :-)

The A380 Is just a disaster waiting to happen! Few will be in operation for a while but the companys will get tired of paying the bill to operate this huge aircraft. Airlines are better of buyng the Boeing 787. Those of you who think boeing will close its doors dont think so soon not even one airline is operating one yet!
I agree. The A380 is just a money waster. It will not be full of people because it is too big therefore it is just a money waster. It will be smarter to fly 2 or 3 787s than 1 a380. I can already foresee Airbus's deserted factories in Toulose.
so how do you explain that it is full of people on the flights it is being used for?? and yes of course it is not filled if u try and run it on flights within the US, but itsnt made for it, so think outside of ur own place for once.
foolish forecast. both aircrafts will have a share of their OWN individual market. hgigh density and long haul flights will serve the A380 well will more sparsely populated flights in the u.s and other areas being served by the 787 (+ dense mid-range flights). Im curious, where are u from? is this just bigotry or actual thought.
Go to Wikipedia (dot) com search Airbus A380 and scroll down to where it says airport compatibility in bold letters. Then read the first senetence and feel stupid.
This is the first test aircraft and it is still being used for testing; there is a small business class-type seating area on the upper deck for crew. There are other test aircraft that have been outfitted with 3-class interiors for service testing, crew training, etc...
when you were getting on the plane, u stopped and turned to the right, and filmed the plane's left wing. it appeared to be JFK's control tower. i couldn't tell though.
i dont think a380 is a good idea, becuase of +++ weight from adding more passengers, you cause a plane to do this( more weight= powerfull engines, x4= more fuel, and that means more problems with the earth...
That's good thinking, and it's absolutely true, but think about this--The a380 is what you might call mass transit. It's better to ferry 515 passengers (the max amt. in the new a380) at a time then let them each take their own Citation jet over. The more people are taken on each trip, the better it is for the enviornment. Also, a380s get more distance per galleon of fuel. I'm not sure how they did it, but it's true.
Yes thats true also it offers more room then previos widebodys even for economy class. They achieved that throug more then 20% composites, new efficient engines, new materials like GLARE,new Aerodynamics.

The new Rolls Royce engines are actually very fuel efficient compared to other large aircraft. This in fact is a "green airplane".

Why does this airplane have to be so ugly? It has nothing of the pleasing lines of the A340-600 or the B747.

Realisically... with the price of jet fuel... is such a large aircraft practicle?
syntaur 3 years ago
with this aircraft yes....though bigger the aircraft is much more efficient than the older rolls royce and general electric engines

realistically...can an a380 be fully occupied..all of its 550+ seats..
