Why I need good Pocketwizards

Ok, I'll add my two cents. I bought 3 poverty wizards second hand made the battery mod and receiver antenna mod, installed new batteries and they work like a charm. I have mad range, over 100' and maybe one misfire out of a hundred. Why do I need to spend all that money on another piece of equipment that does the same thing? Just to say I have what the "pros" use? The industry counts on our vanity and competitive side to shake us down for our hard earned loot. Don't fall for it!

dude you should look into CTR-301P on ebay, still inexpensive, but reliable

That sucks, you must have terrible luck with those things, I've bought about 6 and some of them have been dropped atleast 7 ft with a light stand attached, others wet, others have the cheap plastic on the side broke from over tightening but they still work.

Like the other fellow here, gotta give you cudos for making me laugh :) Point of notice though...one PW will probably not do you any good except messing up other photographers shoots in a vengance attack haha Two PW's on the other hand will get you so much more.

Personally I wire and slave my setup. PW's are way to expensive in my opinion. Here in Norway for the prize of 4 PW's (which I "need") I get appx 10 receivers and one transmitter if I buy Skylinks instead...

I know, I know, sometimes or most of the time the cheap ends up really expensive, already saving my cash for one of those pocketwizard!!!

not sure where the antenna is, I made two more and they work just fine, I think it was damaged or I broke it, I don't see anything strange on it besides the circular contact that connects it with the hot shoe a bit bended down.

Did it work before you did the mod? Maybe it's covering the antenna.
