  • drums are amazing in this song

  • ¡ Tocas excelente !...felicidades y saludos desde México.

  • @tiekoe It is.

  • which mahavishnu record is this song....???

  • @steldrums87 It's not Mahavishnu; it's Jerry Goodman who was in Mahavishnu.

  • @steldrums87 From Jerry Goodman's Ariel album.

  • TODD SUCHERMAN CLINIC This event is planned to start at 7:00 pm on Apr 1, 2010 at Bienes Center for the Arts at St. Thomas Aquinas High School. Ft lauderdale . DRUMMERS IN SOUTH FLORIDA .DON'T MISS THIS ONE.

  • was this kingston?

  • I can see my white shoes from the on-stage camera, when Todd moves he head out of the way. I'm hiding behind his left china... Hmmm.. Todd's still my favorite.

  • its just not quite the same without the cool room :-p

  • It is a paradiddle

  • Haha, well things change :p Its a nice paradiddle tho!

  • I hate that theres no way to get this song. if there is please tell me!!!!!

  • the festival was awesome, his performance was one of a kind, thks for sending this, cool

    :)

  • Wow.. First i heard he playing "tears of joy" just one thing that i want to say, SO BEAUTIFUL SONG! .. Is it tears of joy made of todd sucherman?,todd skill so brilliant i very enjoy to watch him play drum ^^

  • No Tears Of Joy is a Jerry Goodman song.

  • he played this at the modern drummer festival. most beatiful peice of music i've heard.

  • All of Todd's influences are amazing too (Steve Smith,Gary Novak,Vinnie Colaiuta,Bonham) ...thats what musicians forget to do these days....they never research their favorite musicians influences....when I started to do that my musical vocabulary became huge because I thought Dennis Chambers and Dana Hawkins was the ish then they told me about their influences and their influences, influences and so on!

  • 5:59-6:04 I can't get over that part, damn...

  • the hi hat and tom groove? I LOVE that as well! hah

  • isn't that almost like he's saying..... "watch this!" :)

  • @paradiddle1 Its one of my favorite fills from this clip.

  • His Flams!!!! OMG!!!!

  • (psst, he shows the most unbelievable flam excersices on his DVD.. i was FLOORED).

  • Hi!

    13/16 i meant... sorry.

  • Thats right- He explains this timing in his new DVD, but says 2 bars of 4/4 and a bar of 5/4.. so same thing!

  • Wow, sounds more like a 7 and a 6 if you try to count it...driving me nuts! :)

  • Hi!

I think it´s 13/8 at least in the verse part..

    4+4+5..

  • Yes! Glad someone else can decipher. It took me about 20 seconds to figure it out. And it's 13/16 throughout - no change in time.

  • Well, it's actually a bar of syncopated 7/8 followed by a swung 6/8, which can be the same at 13/16 if 8th's are 16th notes.

  • Todd said on MD Fest 2008 that the whole song remained in 13/8, and said to think of it as a bar of 7, and a bar of 6, a bar of 7, etc. and the B section as a bar of 6 and then a bar of 7

  • hey anyone knows what timing this is in? can't seem to count shit

  • did styx write this song?

  • no, Jerry Goodman did. a former violin player of the Mahavishnu Orchestra.

  • ok. I see. Thats why I didn't have it on record:p

    Thanks

  • Hi, can you give me the album info this piece is on? Thanks.....

  • Jerry Goodman - Alive

  • Hi, well, I found it on Amazon and it is an album called Ariel also ......

  • @metzilla

Get the original version. Ariel is the name of the album and I believe Amazon has it.

  • If you liked Todd, you should check out Gavin Harrison

  • wow. this is very astonishing. ive never seen anybody do this and by far this is the most amazing drummer ive ever seen.i thought joey jordison was trhe best until i saw this. wow. i am litterly amazed. i dont get how that is possible though ugh anyway i am amazed

  • Im glad you saw through all the metal music fame thing. There really is no definitive best drummer, except in my opinion its Buddy Rich (check his shit out). But Todd Sucherman and Danny Carey are my 2 favorite drummers. Never once did Joey Jordisons talent marvel me, because hes just as good.. as well.. a typical drummer!

  • i dont know hes fast and all but not as skilled. i think my favortie drummers now are neal peart and todd sucherman

  • hahaha I like to hear that!

    But you want fast?

    Derek Roddy- check him out

  • fast metal that is...

  • i know derek roddy. he is preety good but yet again still neal peart and todd sucherman are my fav haha any way thank you for posting this video. alot of drummers need to see this video so it will open their eyes to a new kind of style drummer im gonna embed this on my myspace page

  • Check chad walls. "torches of nero"

  • I totally agree dude! Buddy Rich is the Godfather of drumming! There's still a lot of stuff that he did that nobody has figured out to this day! i mean it took awhile until the Push/Pull technique was official, something Buddy had done for years looong before that!

  • kwl

  • Jeden z najlepsich songov!!! delo!

  • Absolutely amazing!

Can't find the track, though.. :/

  • Nice playing man! Keep on the good work =)

  • fuckin awesome
