And Ys 7 is set to be released on June 25, 2009, so I am currently laughing out loud at your statement. YsF is Ys 3, but with some twists in the storyline. Bear in mind, there is an earlier version of Ys I and II in another platform before the PC versions came out.

Check Wikipedia (not always reliable source). The author also indicated that Ys 3 = YsF. The Japanese community also agreed that Ys 3 = YsF. One of the file names from Falcom, for YsF, is labelled as Ys3F.
