  • Why not just build a fire?

  • very impressed.' can i buy one in england?.

  • Gee. I wonder what their website is.

  • @BarnabasFrid hard to imagine, isnt it. :)

  • The fact that the Volcano features a damper, indicates that incomplete combustion will occur. Surely, in an emergency, maximum fuel efficiency is the watch-word. Incomplete combustion is the enemy of efficiency. Why waste fuel, when waste isn't necessary? Or is that the American way?

  • 'Volcano stoves are the most efficient ...stoves on the market today' - Would you backup that marketing-speak with figures?

Because whether it's fuel-efficiency, combustion efficiency, or energy efficiency, it is unlikely. Figures please.

  • @pseudotruth Yeah, actually I can. I just got word from CSA that is one of the cleanest burning stoves they have ever seen. When the entire CSA process is done (which I dont see the Lucia stove doing) I will post the comments from CSA on the website.

  • Must have one of these!

  • the Japanese need these stoves, there is plenty of wood debris that could be used for fuel

  • @Romedeiros First.. The cooking surface of the Lucia is less than 6" in diameter. This means that your efficiency begins to drop as you go to larger cooking containers. So, how long, with a 6" Lucia, will it take to cook a meal in a 12" dutch oven? How do you use real briquettes in a Lucia? I didnt see that in the demo, either. Send me 1.. Ill compare it side by side and post the results..

  • @VolcanoStove So, the claim that the Volcano burns wood 3X more efficiently is based on no actual tests?

By the way, the Lucia is made in different sizes depending on the local cooking traditions. The charitable work helps economically depressed people.

I do not mean to knock the Volcano. It may be a great stove. I simply wanted to know what the 3X was compared to. If you mean compared to a camp fire, I'll believe that and say kudos.

  • @romedeiros70 I actually contacted World.. but as of yet have heard nothing. Would be fun to see what they can do, side by side, although I think that they each serve a different market segment. So, if you have some connections there.. have them get a hold of me. :)

  • @VolcanoStove The people at WorldStove are currently in Haiti, volunteering in refuge camps that need stoves for cooking and sterilizing drinking water. Give them some time.

Again, I am sure the Volcano is great, but my scientific background makes the 3X claim hard to believe. By the way, you two are in different markets.

If I get my hands on a Volcano, I'll be glad to build a Lucia type stove of similar capacity and test them both, although I cannot produce one as efficient as WorldStove.

  • Wtf i can cook whatever i want over an open fire, and i need only 2 pans. You don't need all that stuff to go outdoors. Try make things simple, and your life will lift up.

  • Backpack that monster!!

  • I bought my volcano 2 and the lid on the website 2 weeks ago, and had a chance to use it this weekend!!!! :-) BEST GRILL OUT THERE!!!!! cooking with wood is my favorite so far.

  • pretty cool burning wood

  • what happened to the website?

  • @tigerbody1 the new site is volcanogrills. We went to a cleaner format.

  • wow thats like carrying a bag of cat litter around 20 pounds is a lot

  • I saw one of these for sale at Costso for $99.99 I am thinking of getting one.

  • @Christopher711 I missed it! Wish they could be a regular item in Costco. ~0_0~

  • I just received one for Christmas. I can't wait to try it out!

  • Actually you are incorrect. The stove can collapse to 5" However, it has a patented heat chamber that burns fuel up to 3X more efficiently than ANY other stove. It is also the ONLY tri-fuel stove available. Wood, Charcoal or Propane; it's your choice.

  • @VolcanoStove Do you have any proof that it can burn wood 3 times more efficiently than a Lucia Stove from World Stove? I call that bluff.

  • @romedeiros70 @Romedeiros First.. The cooking surface of the Lucia is less than 6" in diameter. This means that your efficiency begins to drop as you go to larger cooking containers.
