Hey brother, you can sure play guitar with some wicked style too, great vid bud... And thanks for subscribing to my channel I'm super honored! Take care and keep ripping!
I'm confused .I'm looking for LONESOME ROAD BLUES TAB and there it IS NOT COINCIDENCE with brad EXECUTION , someone able to direct? I know the left hand
It's a Merill: one of the finest pre-war Martin reproductions ever made. The pickup is an LR Baggs, (I believe a Ribbon,) which I think has been replaced by the Element.
Baggs make great, great stuff.
Brad now mainly uses Takamine Flatpicker guitars, which were copied from the Merrill, and have a state-of-the-art pickup system. They're about 1/3 to 1/4 the cost of a Merrill and have the pickup installed. They sound and play incredibly well, and are handmade.
Brad Great picking!.Please understand one thing the negative comment trolls are ALWAYS present on You Tube some JERK made one about CHET!. You could put a Video of Jesus walking on water some Butthole would say,"Yeah well the stride he's using is ALL WRONG,I also don't like his Sandals, looks like he may need a haircut also, then give Jesus a 2 or 3 rating. I chalk it up to JEALOUS Syndrome!.Most that make comments have NO Videos so We can comment on them,NO Pictures just RIDICULE!,Thanks!Great!
I understand that Brad truly is a guitar guru, but I must agree with several on here and say that this is simply hybrid picking - possibly 'chicken pickin' is another term for hybrid? I don't know, but this technique is hugely popular within the acoustic disciplines, I don't see whats special about it (apart from Brad's wonderful demo!)
NOT all all surprised WHO ran you down?,A LIMEY!.There would be a SWASTIKA in the Old Union Jack if not for us. Brits Ridicule EVERYONE!,for definition see SIMON COWELL:)
That's not chicken pickin. That is indeed Hybrid picking.
Chicken picken is "a technique involving choking notes to produce a percussive snap tat conjurs up the sound of a chicken clucking"
Example. pick a note with your first finger and then pluck the same note again with your pick but with your first finger right behind it on the same string to mute it.
Im having a hell of a time getting this technique down. Hybrind and chicken pickin are not the same.
sorry accidently hit enter.but this is traditional "chicken pickin'...for the record, for anyone learning...placing your finger behind the note your hitting is in no way going to "mute" the note.thats only relevant in slide or dobro playing..chickin pickin' is all about right hand technique.the term comes from the fact that it copy's the banjo "clawhammer" style..hence "chicken"...this is no way intended to put down "ming746"...just to let others know...thanks brad!!
Sorry but that is not true. No one has to or should take my words as gosspel. All I can suggest is you cosult legitment country musical sources. Books or interviews with the real deals. james Burton, Albert Lee, Ricky SKaggs, Ray FLacke..etc..etc. I can assure you the books and those gentleman I mentioned will confirm what I have said.
ok first for you to say "real deal"..bro you need to realize who's page your on.just cause you dont see brad on tv,or magazines.he is a badass and knows his shit.secondly,my point was that you can confuse ppl when you talk about something YOU dont know how to relate.the "muting" can be done in a number of ways i.e. palm, lifting finger(not to the note behind it,that is a pull-off)or dropping another finger of the fretting hand onto the played string.i put up a vid to show what i mean

Ok, that was very nice!! But I wanna see the scales that the guy made!!! Stop givin' too many importance to the fingering and let us know more 'bout the scales that are made! That would be a nice better touch...
Great lesson but I'd love it if he had run through a few of the things he was doing with his left hand. Anyone have any idea what he was doing from 0.46 to about 0.55? Sounded super cool.

Hi Brad. Do you have an instructional DVD for the Chickin'Pickin Method? If not should make one. I have been playing since I was six with no formal training. My Father taught me 4 chords and I went on from there. I only dream of being as great as you. Thanks again you are a great inspiration.
