The lyrics are something like "Baba ninajua kupenda wewe," which means "Father, I know that I love you." "Kupenda," the word they keep repeating means to love in Kiswahili. "Wewe" means you.
@EricRSmyth I'm sure the villagers would appreciate nothing more than a pudgy, well-to-do Westerner stumbling around their village going duuuuuuuuuude! Please Eric, dude, bro, braaaaaaahhhhh, ask your parents for the money, it's either this or Cancun, no, really, spread the kindness of the kind bud for these poor villagers who are waiting for their messiah, the white monkey God who will come in flip flips and board shorts, chanting to sound of eternity, duuuude, duuuuude...
My grandaughter and I love this music and song. When she visit on a Sunday we almost always play it. We have very small 5 prong African paino which I bought in Africa about 40 years ago and we try to sing and play along. The children look sad and serious in this video. Not many smiles, but I expect that is because it was a church group and they take worship seriously.
That is so beautiful! Thanks for posting it. I'm a bit intrigued as to why musicanddrums is annoyed by it? If it's so annoying why is she/he on youtube searching for clips!? I have also been filmed playing percussion in 'foreign' countries. If you are playing in a public space you can't be too concerned about the attention ;P
you're right. They look & sound really annoyed. In all seriousness though, some people may never get the chance to enjoy this kinda moment in real life, so let the youtube culture enjoy what they can.
yeah yur right i guess. But i was once photographed in costa rica cuz they thought i was some kind od native i guess but anyways its really annoying.... so i know from first hand
This looks more like some sort of ethnomusicologist having a song performed for him than some random tourist sneaking into their town and taking pictures of them....
Yes! All those traditional instruments like the kalimba(sanza, likembe) and string instruments are the heart of soukous music, along with a nice dose of latin influence too. GREAT video, thank you very much!

Great! In time I will invest my own money into these talented artists...This is only a fraction of the best they could do under the right conditions.
