  • lol its funny because its so unbelievable

  • Zout-alors! 6 French-frog dislikes methinks! hehe

  • Im taking creative liberty. Harris and hagman didnt die. they moved to ireland with Patric and Hagmans girl and are all living happily on a farm somewhere. Hagman will still sing beautifully and they hold village parties and get very drunk while Harris quotes Shakespeare!

  • Today truly is a day for celebration!

    Sean Bean's character wasn't killed! It's a miracle!

  • "HOW YORKSHIRE WON THE BATTLE OF WATERLOO"

    I told ya'!!

  • 9:40 One of the most epic moments of the Sharpe series.

  • Been watching all the episodes of Sharpe, very entertaning. Thank you for uploading this!

It's been maybe 3 (?) "big battles" and during that time the French army havn't fired a single round? They proberly have orders to stay like 50 yards away from the british since they have enough time to fire like 5 rounds. Then they just run away, so that's why Napoleon lost the war?

  • @Revexz, don't mistake these videos as "history"

the French famously march in a dense column, and they usually use their formation to crash through the line formations of the enemy. They used the bayonet more often than using their muskets.

  • God I love these films.

  • @johnnybriggs118, one of the things I like the most is the quality of villain/antagonist, Paul Bettany and Pete Postlethwaite for example.

  • silk stocking full of shit lol love it

  • Er... watching this episode leaves me with one central question:

did the author or the guys responsible for that episode read ANY book, report or military documentation about the battles of Quatre Bras, Ligny and Waterloo?

What is this? Rule-Britannia-cockery? Complete history faking?

Gosh - nice seeing some Napoleonic era guys battling around, but from the historical point of view, this is complete nonsense.

  • @Heartoftheclock To answer your central question, probably not, the sharp stories are quit good for historical accuracy (apart from the fact that most of the characters and some of the battles are fictional) however this one is probably the worst for inaccuracy (until the ones set in Indra) as it was conceived more to end the run and send him out in a blase of glory rather than to educate people about Waterloo. No one's ever lamed these books and films are anything more then swashbuckling fun.

  • @Heartoftheclock bernard cornwell's sharpe novels are historically accurate. The dramatisations, however, are not.

  • @Heartoftheclock for the most part, that is. He does include a historical note at the end of each book to apologise for any liberties or discrepancies

  • SOUTH ESSEX!!!!!!!

  • the only thing that I didn`t like is when hagman and harris died. my 2 favourite caracters.

  • How kind, those French: they make way for HRH to pass through them :D

  • @KingOfNormans what an ass btw. I hope he wasn`t really that bad, I`d be a shamed to be duch.

  • NO. NO. NO! This is an outrage!!!!!

The line is not "l'Garde Reclue!", it's:

"The Old Guard may die, but it will never surrender."

or if you prefer it, "Merde!"

  • @johnamarante8888 Outrage? What outrage? The quote you talk about is at the last moment of Waterloo, when Cambronne formed the last square to defend. In this part, the french are attacking, not defending. Cambronne says his famous word at another moment of the battle, but it isn't showed here. It's as simple. Anyway, many other important moments aren't showed neither: Blutcher's arrival for example.

  • @johnamarante8888 I meant "Blücher", not Blutcher.

  • Why did he thank McDuff?

  • @Deathcanliveinlife cause he knows McDuff. he know he wont tell..

  • This i s underwhelming. Does not even capture the scope and size of the real battle. And the field does not even look like Waterloo.

  • @rylege YEAH BUT iT WAS A SUPER SMALL BUDGET BUT THEY DID GREAT WITH IT excuse caps I didnt realise I had it on and im to lazy to retype

  • I'm with Pat. Aim for his belly. My viscious side wants this turkey to die miserably for killing Hagman. The sweet singer and my favorite of the Chosen. Too bad he didn't finish the job. How the kid lived so long without his troops killing him I don't know. Probably for the writer to prolong the episode. I think Pat leaves because he knows Sharpe is going to die. He has a family. He loves Sharpe but will not go on to be killed. What do you al think?

  • Thank you Shinigami for taking the time and making the effort to share this with us. :) Songs

  • Why in the world does Harris throw away musket and bayonet? Does he plan to rescue Hagman barehanded?

  • NOOOOO! HAGMAN! HARRIS! The rest of the Sharpe films must be rubbish without those two =[

  • I Love how he says" the Princ-,." and cuts himself off before shouting the old name "SOUTH ESSEX".

  • lol prince of orange, is all like "open the gates, charge them with bayonets." as if he was going for a glorious death and then runs off.

  • YOU SIR ARE A SILK STOCKING FULL OF SHIT !!!

  • hagman and harris's ending brings a single man tear to the eye each time...

  • wheres part 11???

  • WTF is Harris' first name?

  • @Thebradycarroll I've read that Harris' first name was never mentioned anywhere, but that the character was named in tribute to Benjamin Randell Harris of the 95th Rifles, whose memoir about his experiences during the peninsular campaign, was a major source for Cornwell's original research for the Sharpe novels.

  • lol they totally ripped off the original waterloo film. wow

  • Its great watching the French get owned by us British! Well, its a common sight actually LOL!

  • @mwillis1000

France were anything but a joke at this time peroid. The only time when they weren't complete push overs.

  • @GrawrawrLPs

Well they still managed to get owned by us on several continents.

  • @GrawrawrLPs "The only time when they weren't complete push overs." France has had many glorious moments besides the Napoleonic Era. The armies of Louis XIV destroyed their enemies in many wars.

  • LIke I said before, you guys who downed my comments don't know real history. Don't watch the Sharpe series to learn history. Read a book.

  • @expertstrategy Before I saw the Sharpe series I'd never heard of Wellington/Wellsley. So I have learnt something historical from Sharpe

  • What a glorious sight!!!

  • @expertstrategy The old Guard were sent you daft ejit.

  • @LordWellington15, just read any history book about Waterloo and you'll know what i said is correct. It was the Middle Guard of the 3rd and 4th Chasseurs. It's history, deal with it! If you don't believe me then read about it. Even British historians know the truth and acknowledge it without hesitation. Maitland only fought against the Chasseurs and not the grenadiers.

  • @LordWellington15

You are only embarrassing yourself clinging to that myth of Old Guard attacking Wellington.

I have a question for you..... which regiments of the Imperial Guard attacked Wellington?

You should know that both Ney and Napoleon referred to the 'Middle Guard' attacking Wellington in their memoirs.

  • @LordWellington15 No, no. Middle Guard.

  • @LordWellington15

The old Question here: Old or middle guard? The simple answer:

Napoleon sent batallions of the Middle Guard to break Wellington's lines and also three Old Guard batallions as a reserve or backbone, that didn't directly attack the lines.

Yes, I know, history is often more complicated than shown in action movies. We have to accept that. I recommend to read the battle description on wikipedia, not only the chapter "attack of the Imperial Guard".

  • Who the fuck is gonna sing now

  • DUTCH BASTARD I WOULD HAVE SHOT FOR HIS HEAD JUST THE NORMAL HISTORY OF ASSHOLES GIVING ORDERS 1600S 1700S 1800S WHEN WILL IT ALL END

  • @TheSpiritof45 Wow you are clinically insane aren't you?

  • @jamesdeguerre MILDLY PERHAPS BUT MANAGABLE AT THIS TIME "LEADERS" WILL ALWAYS SEND THE FODDER BUT I WOULD LOVED ASHOT THAT STOCKING FULL OF SHITE

  • Is the guy at 0:40 supposed to be Price? I thought he was killed by Hakeswill trying to defend Teresa.

  • NO! no no no no no

  • i cant believe that hagman and the gignerr one died... i almost cried when i saw that bit. :'(

  • What i really hate is how the world complains about america "world police" yet deep down you all truly expect us to be. Some atrocity happens somewhere everyone says "whats america going to do about it?" and if we mistake and f up (more than not) youre all so quick to hate and chastise us. We give so much world aid and even those we help hate our guts. Truth be told, without america this world would be a lot more fucked up then it already is.

  • @duckhunt1045 What the fuck are you even talking about? What does that have to do with anything? Honestly, you sound like a daft twat.

  • @duckhunt1045 That's irrelevant and Americans are fat. So ha!

  • @duckhunt1045 YEAH 100% BUT FUCKED UP WITHOUT ALL YOUR COVERT UNDERHAND IGNORANCE IF IT WAS NOT FOR US THICK BASTARDS YOUR LOVELY LAND WOULD STILL BELONG TO THE REAL OWNERS AND WOULD NOW BE CLOSER TO PARADISE NOT THE TIME B*MB IT IS SORT THINGS OUT YEAH YOUR INVOLVED I ACCEPT THAT BUT DONT YOU EVER FOGET THE SAS YOU HAVE NOTHING TO COMPARE

  • @duckhunt1045 NO FORGET MY POLITE COMMENT YOU LOT ARE THE PROBLEM STAR SPANGLE WE ARE RIGHT VIETNAM[GODBLESS THE FALLEN] SUEZ GRENADDA WW2 TOO LATE STAYED HERE TOOK ADVANTAGE WHAT A GREAT NATION YOU ARE BUT I WILLL NOT TOLERATE THE JIHAD WANKERS THEY RIDE WITH THE DEVIL AND WILL REMAIN WITH THE DEVIL SAS VRS GREEN BERRETS NAVY SEALS THE ULTIMATE YOU CAN OFFER WHO DARES WINS NO CONTEST

  • @duckhunt1045 you're making america out to be one entity, when it's actually made up of millions of different people. the richer more powerful countries should indeed help out, because they can. while that does happen, there are still the rich and greedy few, who use their power for personal gain at the expense of others. sometimes that manifests in the form of war (not that war is inherently bad), covert operations, or political/economic control/pressure. that's what people don't like.

    -yank

  • NOOOO hagman and harris. I really liked harris. Cant believe they had to die. Much respect for most countries around the world, but I notice a lot of "yanks" haters on here. Just know that if it really came down to it america could completely and utterly fuck your country up be it the brits the germans whatever and you know it.

  • @duckhunt1045 if england were to withdraw all of its forces and invade america by the time all of your army's had got back it would be taken over ( this is theoretical btw)

  • I always wondered why the powerful Napoleon was finally beatten... now I know its because Sharpe

  • I like it how the french never stop to shoot in Sharpe, they just keep walking foward, gets shot and then fall back.... If they had actually done that in history, Napoleon wouldn´t have won a single battle lol...

  • @hherlevdk That is the tactic Napoleon used...he would concentrate a column of troops at a single point on the line, accepting that the front would take bad losses (although the range of muskets made this a short time). At perhaps 25meteres or less they (may) give a volley and smash into the line, using the weight of the column to smash it, then roll it up. Funnily enough, Nelson used a similar tactic at Trafalgar against the French Navy.

  • I don't understand. Did Sharp die?

  • Wellington one word..... Legend.

  • Hagman and Harris...nooooooooooo!

  • napoleon was the best damn general ever

  • Is it me, or.....looking at Napoleon riding off on his horse, is the tail of the horse in the colour's of the French Flag, because it certainly looks so. Blue, White and then Red :)

  • @Dippers85 Bloody hell, you're right :D

  • @Dippers85

Good pick up Dipper, I have seen this episode many times,, but now that you mention it. You are correct Sir.

  • @flembag32 Aye, eyesight sharp as a Rifleman's so it is!!! Swift and Bold!! :D

  • @Dippers85 Yes, it is there.

  • I actually cried when Dan and Harris got killed, they were the last of the Chosen Men :(

  • did anyone else notice that when the South Essex is firing, when it shows the French getting shot, sometimes they're the Old Guard and sometimes they're just random French (parts from Talavera in Eagle)?

  • What are the Imperial Guard chanting?

  • @YeOldeGrandma Vive l'empreuer (long live the emperor)

  • @VivaLaRaza2006 Badass...

  • @VivaLaRaza2006 VIVE LE SHARPE L'EMPREUR EST UN GRANDE MERD PARDONE MOI JE EST ECOSE JE DETESTE L,ANGLAIS VIVE LA FRANCIAS I AM SORRY FOR ANY OFFENCE I WAS ONLY JOKING THIS WAS A GREAT SERIES OF PRORAMES I ENJOYED WATCHING BUT A SUPPORTER OF THE FRENCH ALWAYS GOD BLESS THE "AULD ALLIANCE"

  • There was a few footages taken from "Sharpe's eagle".

  • The premise

    Is the worst commander ever

  • When sharpe saw Napoleon Napoleon was thinking the same thing as sharpe

  • Just wondering was the price of orange shot or is that a Sharpe twist

  • @uglow10 he was injured in the real battle but survived, also in real life he was a good general. but baking him bad makes for a good story

  • @stormer55 Wellington in a report said that he was a bad general (why do you think they called him Silly Billy?) but only because he was inexperienced. He only said that because he couldn't bad mouth the Prince of Orange

  • @SixFootBabyStudios dam it, after checking this it appears you are correct.

  • Orange Order anyone?

  • Comment removed

  • @LordWellington15 That's the style of the Baker rifle bayonet. You see them hanging on the 95th soldiers kit in other shots. They're actually shaped more like small straight cutlass. Google Baker Rifle bayonet. You'll see what I mean. Well spotted though, it does look very similar.

  • @dom1940 Ah, I see, I did not know that, cheers for the info

  • Comment removed

  • I remember when this aired, I wept buckets when Harris and Hagman died like dogs for a prince's vanity. RIP

  • ...did anyone see that poor bugger get stomped at 0.18? Hope he got good pay for that gag.

  • @mrspringheeledjack1 haha he got stomped on twice

  • So THAT''s how the bastard got wounded!

  • as if the british alone made the french guard retreat... lol... in reality it was prussian 50 000 men arrival on the flank and rear of napoleon army and guard who made them retreats... but great tv show... I love the riffle men...

  • @Rostokouban what the same as the americans think they won thier independance by themselves and slate the french LOL, or the fact they think they won ww2 by themselves lol, we all are the same ....

  • "Why do we do this? Why? Why?why...?" ;).....So,when did Ducos take of the south essex ?

  • what IS harris first name??

  • NOOOO not dan and harris RIP :'(

  • Fucking Dutch bastard got Dan and Harris killed the fucking god damn bastard and now I hate the French and I am quarter French................fuck.

  • @nounever, this movie isn't reality, and the Dutch proved to be quite useful. In fact, it was the Dutch artillery that bombarded the Imperial Guard to devastation, and Dutch infantry used a bayonet charge that routed the flank of the French Middle Guard.

" now I hate the French and I am quarter French................fuck"

be proud of your roots. You remind me of Hitler who renounced his Austrian nationality. I'm part German, Danish, and 1/8 British and I love them all.

  • @expertstrategy Well I do not doubt the Dutch actions or deeds in anyway, I am very proud this made me temporarily angry, William was quite like this in real life however he was wounded at Waterloo, the semi fictional one in Sharpe is a bastard though.

  • @expertstrategy

well said. one mans actions don t make a country, but the people in it ;)

  • @koppsr, too true.

  • The Old Guard was never sent, that is just old propaganda to further glorify the Allies.

  • RIP my favorite soldiers, and the best shots in the army...

  • now this is a series which you done want to end but has to because nothing happens for a few hundred years :D

  • open the gates and charge them with bayonet??? wow even i knew better than that when i was 13 playing age of empires 3 lol

  • danial should have stayed with Sally

  • why are some of them wearing aprons, like the beard guy at the farm

  • @declantheamazing french pioneers wear apron and axe

  • @Werdernator why? they have guns, but presumably the axe is for close quarters?

  • what is this movie called?

  • That is what Hagman and Harris get for being little bitches and betraying Sharpe. Glad they died.

  • Harper is so chillax here.

  • 0:20 that poor stuntman got more than he bargained for

  • HAHAHA!!! 9:40 - Dramatic Wellington "GO ON SHARPE!!!"

  • is this the last part of the episode or is there another video?

  • @11esure. You talk about England being the greatest empire ever. Now let's go over a list of territories: the falkland islands, no wait! Argentina claims those sorry, and a bunch of tiny islands. All of that land And the British isles add up to about the size of Nevada. Talk about being so grate now

  • @PrinceOfNetherlands after the napoleonic wars the british empire expanded to a quater of the globe it was the biggest empire to ever exist it contained over a quarter of the worlds population

  • @PrinceOfNetherlands Well the English empire isn't what it used to be obviously, but at least they can spell, unlike you retard.

  • America won WW2 single handed?

No, America made the most movies about it. There's actually a very large difference.

I am not doubting the major contribution it made, I'm simply knocking the inherent arrogance. Go back to sticking your thumbs up your fat arses and scoffing apple pie, and creating enemies where there are none.

  • bastard prince of orange.. the bugger killed hagman... ;'(

  • this is brutal... and wtf is with the random explosions throughout the entire fing episode

  • Those that our saying it's unfair on this country and not fair on this country... Remember it's a fictional book for one and also it's SHARPE'S Waterloo. Not the Prussian or the Dutch Waterloo... Sharpe's. It shows his fictional story through Waterloo also if anyone has read the book Mr Cornwell writes all about the ficition he writes in this and why he did it. Also last of all... Leave WW2 out of it, I'm English and everyones contribution won the war, not one army or the other...

  • this is very realistic...the french are actually fighting...

  • Yuilen

You talk some shit, America have NEVER won a war by themself not 1, korea, iraq, afrgan, Vietnam, all a total disaster.

We have the greatest ever empire ever. and the biggest

    Love the British

  • @11esure mexican-american war, spanish-american war, these are both wars won by the americans by them selves, and i wouldnt say korea was a disaster, we (un task force)did win

  • another moron yank...read some history dipshit.

  • @BadEarthMonkey Lol, a yank reading? fat chance :D

  • damn what happend to sharpe and lucille? the ending is short...not satisfied.....oh and rip harris and dan

  • english scum

  • @SouthDownIPLO oh quit whining

  • @SouthDownIPLO ENGLISH SCUM AND PROUD. You call us scum when you bomb pubs and other local places full of civilians, full of children, who is the real scum? Im 1/4 Irish, and due to bastards like you, im ashamed of it.

  • @MrGezamo enGAYlish scum. there is nothing to be proud of

  • @MrS5099 Nothing to be proud of that insult either lol, please next time anwser back to be with something that wont make me burst out laughing.

  • @MrS5099 What a clever statement , you sure you aren't the one with no reason to be proud?.

  • lol@varelion dont forget it versus the french. Any other nation it owuld be impossible.

  • english pigs

  • @SouthDownIPLO Irish drunkard

  • "The Guard dies, it does not surrender"

    lol

  • Comment removed

  • I swear some of those scenes during the final battle are shots from the final battle in Sharpe's eagle.....

  • Got to laugh at this thread, some of you take things faaar too serious, its a piece of entertainment for gods sake, anyone with an interest in the napoleonic wars knows what really happened, this is SHARPES waterloo! and why do i get the feeling i could watch a video about absolutely anything on here, and loads of americans will be banging on about WW2 and how they won it? bemusing..

  • @Yuilen If you actually look at WW2 then you'll realise that the Americans were very limited in their success. To take D-Day as an example: First most of the US Paratroops were dropped in the wrong place whilst the British, French and Canadians dropped where they were meant to, then in the beach landings the US contributed less troops and only one of their landings was a real sucess - Utah. Omaha took 3 days to achieve it's original objectives, the other forces all succeeded on the first day.

  • @Yuilen If anyone really won the war it was the Russians. But of course America can't admit that. Russia contributed more men and resources and were the ones who reached Berlin and ultimately forced Germany to surrender even though, out of pride more than anything else, Germany surrendered on the Western Front first.

  • @Yuilen AHAHAH USA won the war? If it was not for the allies and the USSR you would'nt of stood a chance, Germany and Japan would of destroyed youre navy, and eventually would of destroyed your economy. And shit country? You forget that you come from these isles, boy.

After Stalingrad, Germany stood no chance, and the battle of Britain was over, in the end of the day, you may of shortened the war, but you did not win it on your own. Even though im a Brit and proud, it was the Russians who won

  • @Yuilen LOL been watching Hollywood movies as a source for American WW2 history I see....

England, in the first 2-3 years successfully defended ITS OWN SHORES against the Germans & allies. Until 1942 you sat on your fat arses and just sold us materials. On D-Day you provided less than 20% of the invading force, CANADA turned up with more troops that you did, and in the hedges of Normandy your kill/death ratios were 25:1 against the German soldiers.

Why? because they were better than you....

  • @chapmasi

I don't know to whom or what you were replying, but I'll ask forgiveness if it was a stupid American. Still (speaking as an American and a teacher of history), we shouldn't be arguing over who contributed how much. Both sides spilled a lot of their blood. The British held their shore, but they were also driven from Dunkirk back to Britain. And yes, the Americans waited far too long to get involved; but the tide didn't turn until the Americans drove the Germans (Africa / Italy).

  • @hoosierteacher We were driven back by sheer force of numbers, but as said, we defended our own shores from the South and East for the first 2 or 3 years. I agree that no one should argue who contributed how much, but when some of your ignorant countrymen spout their ill informed Hollywood fed "facts" all over Youtube it needs addressing

America came in at the end and lost far more soldiers than they should have done, mainly due to Eisenhower/Patton just blindly throwing troops at conflicts

  • @hoosierteacher: Credit where it's properly due, fella. The British 8th Army won the African campaign in the western desert, and chased the Afrika Korps all the way to Tunisia. And then *all* of the western allied powers (incl. British Commonwealth forces) drove the Germans out of Algeria/Tunisia and Italy. Emphatically not just the Americans as you claim, especially considering their poor performance at Sidi Bou Zid and Kasserine Pass.

  • @bnipmnaa Not exactly. The "poor performance" - the US II Corps was under the British 1st Army. Patton arrived, put MG Fredendall in charge, and the allies advanced. I'm not saying the US was the sole reason for the defeat of the Axis. The British have valid claims that the US was late to arrive. But the British and Americans fought together to achieve a joint victory. Those who overstate American or British glory forget that is was a partnership that won the day. We won as allies.

  • Comment removed

  • @hoosierteacher: Yes exactly. Fredenhall presided over US defeats at both Sidi Bou Zid and Kasserine Pass. The US forces were over-confident in North Africa, but tbf they learnt from their initial mistakes – although one might argue that their commanders (especially Patton) valued their own personal prestige more than the lives of their men.

My comment was mainly aimed at addressing your claim that the *Americans* drove the Germans out of Africa/Italy. Untrue.

  • @hoosierteacher

just want to add, if we had not had world war 1, the circumstances of world war 2 would not have arouse

i think the Americans did a good job in what they did do even before joining the war, if they had not helped the Germans before 1929 then the germans would have gone to war alot earlier

  • @bookloverholic the germans would not of gone to war prior to 1929...... 1933 is when the nazi's took power and it took them 6 years of preparing to be ready for war! can everyone please read this.... DO NOT DEBATE HISTORY UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR TALKING ABOUT. I always see totally incorrect arguements on history instead of pretending you know or just making stuff up just pick up a book and read it.

  • @Yuilen: don't be silly. You sold material to the allies on credit for a few years (whilst simultaneously trading with the German Reichsbank via intermediaries in Switzerland, ffs!), then joined the war only after Hitler declared war on you. Not that you'd know that, if you rely on Hollywood for your information.

  • Its awfull whe Harris and Dan die, bloody shame it is.

  • NO! Dan and Harris!

  • this reminds me of empire total war

  • 7:0) He goes to say the prince of ... Damn it, and says the south essex.... why is this? wasn't it re-named the price of wales's own volunteers?

  • Comment removed

  • @coolcraignvodka I guess he was used to calling them that when he was in command. Back in command of them he made the mistake.

  • @coolcraignvodka

The Prince of Wales was a twat too iirc.

  • RIP Harris & Hagman :(

  • Why is it the french never fire back?

  • @OfficialFearClan, this was the imperial guard. They prefer to fight with their bayonets than shoot their muskets. You've got to have a lot of balls to march into a volley of flying lead.

  • The Prince of Orange was a dangerous idiot responsible for the deaths of many men through his tactical ineptitude. I know you Dutch need some hero for your miniscule little nation, but hey, it's fun to see your tears.
