i think this is about Louis the XVI, the lyrics match what happened to him; also it would give more meaning to the cover artwork of the album (a painting signifying lady liberty during the french revolution)

@mbaicu I got it. But what's the thing with Jerusalem? I guess he's talking about crusades that happened centuries before French Revolution and which are not related to what happened to Louis XVI (not the XVI ;) )

French revolution was based on social and political revendications.

I think the theme of the song can be larger, about ambitions, power and decline.

But I really love that song, probably their best one so far.

I think it could more match Napoleon's life, talking about ambitions.

How a powerful king who can can rise sea when he gave his word,with his fragile life where a minute he held key,next the walls were closed on him and revolutionaries wait his head on a silver plate, but still he has passion to struggle his life with his sword and shield(somehow it's not remind me to Napoleon but Return of the King movie^^)

@Janforth04 It's about napoleon. Look at the cover of the album and it shows the ever famous picture depicting the French Revolution. The people overthrew the king, and Napoleon soon came into power. He would ultimately lose power after conquering most of Europe. If you look at the lyrics, you'll definitely see this.
