My friends and I have almost completed the easter egg, (we had spikemores, shrink ray, ray gun, and everything else you need), but then my friend with the shrink ray had to leave. BUT while in this game i noticed something. The gongs are not worthless, they make the poles with the orbs on the buildings glow and when you shoot those with a shrink ray, that's what makes the meteor shrink... that is like one of the last steps though.

Who knows, maybe the meteorite is the same meteorite in which Dr Maxis first collected Element 115 for the zombies, and thus when Rictofen took it, he stopped Maxis from discovering element 115, and thus stopping the whole chain of events that sent them back in time in the first place.
