I loved the game, but am I the only person who thinks that the Southerland level (where you meet Nizzente) is one of the most insanely, frustratingly, impossibly difficult levels ever? One fall-- start over. One hit-- knocked back-- fall off a platform-- start over. And so forth. I hate it when games give you a life bar and then promptly ignore it. Bottomless pits and instant-death falls should be abolished from the annals of videogaming. And having to start over if you fail at the boss!!!
A very good game. Japanese voice acting is awesome, American translation is TERRIBLE. Play it with Magic Engine and find the cheats online so you don't drive yourself crazy!
The voice acting is horrible (as was the case with nearly every American-ported TurboGrafx CD-ROM game of the early 90s). I am glad I got the Japanese version.
Wow, us Sega fans got the shaft here. It's faster, AND longer. DAMMIT!

This looks a lot faster than the Sega version.

@reztoc Ys Book I & II, at least for its time had some rather good voice acting compared to what everyone else put out there.

I don't understand timers in platforming games unless it has something to do with the plot.

@DynasticHero i always thought that was stupid concept of games.
ValisHD 10 months ago
@DynasticHero Well, some games let you farm power ups from respawning enemies, others are much easier if you play methodically at a slower pace.
