Boxer wants international laws to apply to US Courts, especially when it comes to the treatment of children. I had the same interest rate for 4 years, one co had even lower my rate till the CCA went into effect. My CC co always notified me of any changes in advance. I guess that is what happens when bills are paid on time and READ the Contract. You mean the interest rate of 21% back in the 70's to even buy a home? Student Loan Program is set to loose 13,000 jobs, 2,100 in SallyMae alone.

Congress knew full well that banks would increase the rates before the law became into effect as the banks informed them that this is what would happen. The HC bill was hasty? It was in deliberation for a year! We sure as heck didn't get any time to revise any of the bill rammed though by the Bush administration.
Fortunately, now CC companies are limited as to how much they can raise rates. Its unfortunate that companies saw it fit to try and ilk as much cash out of consumers at the 11th hour, but in case you haven't noticed those companies aren't exactly struggling to stay in the black.

11111110 The HC Law was hasty. Congress left the details to the H&H Secretary to work out the details instead of having firm guidelines. Why do you think people have a hard time explaining the Law? I was not defending the Banks. I was pointing out Chuck Schumer's favorite phrase "Law of Unintended Consequences", which this Law is full of and being revealed more each day.

The public has been considering and arguing about every line of the bill for the past year. Congress has had more than enough time and pressure to scrutinize every policy, and to clear the record on every out-of-context measure that media outlets and healtcare lobbyists have tried to run a story with.
