  • if i were to remove the cat on my 93 ford f150, (which i alreaday had to mess with it once) would it affect anything you know like important??? i dont care about sound. it already is a piece o' crap. would the check engine light come on?

  • Thanks for the video, now i understand why a secondary air pump (or smog pump) is required

  • @yourtube1234567 if you do some real research you'll find that's b.s. they remove certain chemicals but create much worse chemicals as well

  • In other words it could be that me using 87 octane where 91 octane is recommended could have made the catalyst go bad?????

  • @rauldsc1 no but if your car calls for premium only it isnt good on your engine because it is factory set for that type of gas only

  • Cats suck I gut em or just scrap them what a fucking joke

  • @cammingchevy

How can they suck if they convert dangerous gas into non dangerous things?

  • 0:49 it's actually pretty interesting.

  • cuold small dealer sell car if there is a problem on the catalytic coverter?

  • Note: if you follow tunastrike's "advice", you break the law, so you will have to put a working cat back in for every annual emissions test. If the cops pull you in for anything, they can ask to see proof that the vehicle reaches emissions standards, you are prosecuted if you don't. They can smell your exhaust, it's not difficult. If you have a crash, you are uninsured, because you have modified the vehicle.

So don't. It could save you a dollar a week until it costs you thousands.

  • smash the guts out of the cat never have a problem again.

  • Aye. Don't let the dealer just replace your cat. Tell them to do a check on the car, because you got something else going on that caused the cat to fail. Especially if your car is under 70k miles and your cat fails, your engine has to be troubleshooted, because they shouldn't go bad that early.

  • Smashing good video. meets a very high standard of explanation even for the informed technician. The storing and releasing of oxygen as needed is a big factor in the unit becoming modular and not needing additional hookups. I am always encouraged by the extent to which a specialty manufacturer could improve a factory brand item and create a new product that becomes the standard. besides vehicular operational problems i have found that impact damage is a frequent reason for converter failures
