When the director told Alex Mercer to act like an angry badass, I think he took it a little too far. Well, he got the "badass" part nailed, because he's Alex motherfucking Mercer, but the "angry" part needs serious work.

The reason Alex is so mad at TAGGGAAAART is because Taggart was the one who wanted to nuke Manhattan immediately. He also sent all his men to be killed by Mercer so he could escape, all those choppers being decoys.

General Randall didn't want to nuke Manhattan, but Taggart gave him the means and as a last ditch effort was forced to.

If it weren't for the game's poor way of explaining things you would know Taggart is probably the most fucked up person in the entire game.

Alex Mercer, or at least the avatar of Alex the virus reanimated, has gained a sense of morality over the course of the game, so he doesn't take kindly to the many evil things that Blackwatch does. Taggart in particular had stationed U.S Marines to protect him while he escaped, Alex didn't like that good men who had no part in Blackwatch's scheme were being forced to protect one of their officials, he has to kill Marines to get to Taggart and he isn't happy about it hence his outburst.
