The issue wasn't that you killed Sook, the issue was that you applied your own rules arbitarily.

Given your rules, you had four options: both Zinaida and Sook die, both live, you abandon one Panzerklein to save either Sook or Zinaida, or you abandon two Panzerkleins to save them both.

The most useful thing about PK weapons like the HMG that Doug picks up, is the huge ammo boxes are sometimes compatible with regular rifles. That HMG uses 7.62x54R ammo, which stuff like the SVT-40 and AVS-36 use, full of 250 delicious rounds. Not to even mention the HMG that uses 300 round magazines of the common Mauser rifle round, all for the price of 4 inventory spaces. Drop one of those in someone's inventory, and you don't need to worry about ammo for a LONG time.
