While Zen Buddhism is, indeed, associated with Buddhism, Zen is universal. The great masters, Bankei and Hakuin warn that "anyone who says that Zen is a school of Buddhism is a heretic in danger of hell." Zen is for anyone seeking to awaken the mind...period. My spiritual path began with Christ, and Christ also taught One Mind and singleness of focus. Mind and Spirit are not the same. There ius no contradiction. Read my book Soul to Soul: Harnessing the Power of Your Mind. Zen is faith in Mind.
Thank you for your observation. All my demonstrations are filmed by third parties and later passed on to me. If these abiliies are not universal and possible for all men, why do we practice and teach. The Disciple must have faith in the teachings to become like The Master. I simply believe
Great Display of Inner Power...There is nobody oulling any ropes, you can see it for yourself! Just look in the mirrow on the video, the only person you can see besides Master and his Desciple is a women who is recording the video...
People with no faith must always and will always find an excuse for not believing. The demonstration was in the dojo of Grandmaster E.R. Spruiell, a Tenth Dan in Juijitsu and the current Senior Masters Champion in US Open Judo. If you care to explore, you will find that nearly all of my feats are in the presence of ranked masters and experts. No one is going to make me look good. The purpose of this mission is solely to teach what is possible for you. The lost is , sadly, yours.
The "Zen Punch" you feature looks staged. It's obvious that the impetus for his flying backwards comes from being pulled rather than thrown back by a punch. I imagine a thin rope was used, the same way it is done as a special effect in movies. His rear end is the first thing to move back, not his upper body as would be the case if he was knocked backwards by a punch.
So then, its not a secret that it's being staged? Look at the way the waist goes back forcefully before the student is "thrown back," and the fact that the pad where the punch lands is not thrown back, but dragged by the person holding it.
If the punch had propelled him backward, the force would have transferred from his fist, through the mat, into the students arms and upper body. As you can see in the clip, he was actually dragged back by his waist, and the mat only followed because he as holding onto it.
Careful observation. The transfer of power in his left shoulder, and he lost balance. His waist first, because he would rather land on it than his head.
However, if the student wishes, he can be in preparation for the strike and not fall down.
People believe what makes them happy, student are very happy to have a strong master. If he can, he will even lie to himself and believe.
Christian Zen master? What's that mean?

There is no intent to deceive with "Zen Punch".
However, perhaps students do not care to stand up.

Of course, the student will drag mat, he is heavier. Do not know how good your understanding of physics is.
Punch knocked out of balance, but student did not attempt to stand. You can prepare for a strike this easy to see, but student did not.
However, not to deceive us.

Look "kiai master vs MMA" for example.
No need for "thin rope"
