  • To this day, I've never heard this song sung better (sorry Bernadette) :)

  • I love Barbara Cook...but Dorothy Collins will always be the definitive Sally.

  • There's something so magical about Barbara Cook's presence. She is so genuine and kind.

  • Wow...that last note was really risky and brave...any singer would really think twice before doing something that could backfire so spectacularly, and yet she makes it so effortless!

  • Made me cry.

Is she reallyt in her 80s here? I find that amazing and inspiring :)

Hope I'm singing like that in my 60s, never mind my 80s.

  • @pianomags She's only about 58 here. She's 84 now!

  • absolute perfection

singing of not getting older-with the voice of a new discovery

  • In our eyes Barbara is still beautiful too!

  • How old is Patinkin in this?

  • @MinervasGarden Mandy was 33.

  • Isn't it amazing how Stephen Sondheim can make such a simple collection of notes into such an incredibly deep sentiment? It sounds so complex, but it's really not. How beautiful.

  • bravo amazing she sings amazing and she is 82 wow wow

  • 3:27!! Damn it!

  • what a lovely voice, i rented this video years ago. it was nice, but i too wish they'd shown the whole show.

  • Barbara Cook has one of the best voices to ever grace the Broadway stage. Period. And, she starred in of one of the most thrilling episodes ever in the "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" series. Look it up, it was a gas.

  • Wonderful wonderful wonderful...

  • look at the way Lee Remick watches Barbara Cook...she's just rapt by her...

  • Thanks so much for posting! But to the day I die I won't understand why they never issued a DVD of the whole concert...

  • It was shot by a BBC camera crew who didn't really know who was important in terms of Broadway history. That's why we have lots and lots of Lee Remick (who the British public knew) and only half of Carol Burnett's "I'm Still Here". I also don't think they had the resources to shoot the whole show.

  • Elaine being ever so classy at 2:23.

  • I've never seen Elaine (offstage) when she didn't behave exactly like that ---- a fidgety child.

  • So random ... I can't help thinking how much George Hearn looks like Murray Hewitt / Rhys Darby from "Flight of the Conchords" at 1:09.

  • I just totally thought the same thing...

  • Nobody, so far as i know, can sing that song as she does. Thank You so much for putting it back up. I've missed it.

  • Is 2:04 Mandy Patinkin????

  • Yes...
