First off, I agree with the single word "hi" or "hide". Second off, to Xanzdoe...then how do you explain evp where the unexlained voices respond to specific questions? Delve deeper into studying this phenomenon, and my guess is you might begin to turn your skepticism into believeing. There is some incredible evp out there. Personally, I think that we're tapping into the purgatory or "bardo" realms.

i think humans have a wonderful imagination. We often hear what we want to hear. The prevalence of electronics, electronic noise of all kinds, can be interpreted any way one wishes, but it is no proof to me that spirits are speaking, and why would they wish more to heard by a recorder than by the human ears present at the time?

i think these (and all EVPs) are environmental, electronic interference or an artifact of the tape or recording device. The simplest explanation is usually correct.
