  • my grnadfather fought on this beach as an american soldier and all his brothers were killed about five feet away from him and when he took me here he fell to his knees and began to cry. Long live the veterans of world war 2

  • Rommel let the allies in at D-day, he was responsible for the defense of the Atlantic wall.

That's why he's a hero today and had to pay with his life.

He didn't believe in Hitler anymore, the theory Germany push the Allies back to the ocean and deal with Russian's after.

Normandy beaches purposely left weak for the Allies to attack.

  • @szaki rommel left to go celebrate his wifes birthday on dday. he was an amazing general though

  • @CardShark989

That's why, he didn't care about it and Hitler's insanity.

He learned it in N-Africa, how H betrayed him!

Rommel was also part of the H assassination plot.

Allies were surprised , at some of the beaches of Normandy the big guns never been installed.

If I remember right, only 40 thousand defenders, mostly Eastern Europeans not Germans were placed at Normandy!

Without Rommel, hole Europe would have been concord by the Soviets.

  • It's a sad business...lets hope we never have another one like this. Unfortunately it's human nature..

  • @MrGlenk

the problem is that its in the hands of just a few people to make war...

"Older men declare war. But it is youth that must fight and die." – Herbert Hoover

  • I want to say scerw hitler

  • @MrConservative95 thank you

  • Those who took the pictures. They have the balls of adamantium that not even Wolverine's Blade could destroy. No man would be able to take pictures this clear, while under heavy fire. Salute to them and all the soldiers. Nobody deserves to be treated any worse.

  • They starved to death growing up in the American Depression, then once they were old enough to get away with lieing about their age...they joined up. They lived, they slugged it out and they died. God bless them for what they did. Truly, they never got a break and now we whine and complain about the smallest inconvenience...sometimes for their memory..we should just shut up and say ..."thanks brothers!!!"...God Bless....Gianni

  • These young men saved the world . . .

  • I'm half American and half German. I wouldn't know which side to take if I was in WW2. Probably German because I love being on the bad side :P

  • @VessUnless Yeah, well your not cute saying that. And your chances of living would be pretty low.

  • " Let us not forget these, Brave few soul's. Whom without their selfish sacrifice and courage, do we owe our very existence. Never. In the whole of human sacrifice and warfare, have so many, perished on one battlefield. Been owed such a debt of gratitude. That we, even now must lower our head's and pray to God. That they did not Die in vain and that the Memory of their eternal sacrifice will live on in the heart's and mind's of every Man, Woman and Child, born here after. "

  • Who the hell would dislike this video -_-

  • I hate when people say that the germans were bad

But every country who' has been involved in the ww2 . Did horrible things . And both sides soldiers wer just following orders. Rest in peace for the ones on the beaches and the defenders.

(srry for my english i'm dutch)

  • my grandpa was a flame thrower in the war on D-Day he told me he said to his freind think your already dead and thats how he lived threw the war he says but he said his buddy never mad it the grenade that hit them both only hit his neck and killed his freind

  • @luvgamesmorethanu That seems very similar to what a certain Lieutenant says on the move Band Of Brothers.

  • poor paratroupers they parachuted at midnight

  • RIP for my grandfather. he left the house one day and never came .and we got a letter saying he was dead. I miss him so much :'(

  • i have family living in the us 3 of them are veterans one day i said to one of them lets go to normandy he agreed we stopped and walked to the beach he walked to the beach and he started crying and fel on the ground he grabbed the sand and looked at it i said to him 'what is it? he answered.'i landed here. he took out his cross and buried it he said to me then. 'pray with me for the brave young men who died for freedom and liberty we called the names of the US soldiers how didny make it RIP

  • Anyone who thinks school, life, or work is hard, they dont know anything of the meaning of hard. These brave, courageous young men awoke at 5am to travel many miles just to wade in knee high deep water, faced by dozens of pillboxes, fierce MG 42 fire, artillary raining down hell, high cliffs invested with German marksmen, fortified bunkers, and pure death, destruction, and demise. Just remember when you think you did something hard, you didnt walk into Nazi Machine gun fire at 6:00am.

  • @flowingwolfpack Waking up at 5a.m. isnt really that hard. I have to be at work at 4a.m. But the rest is pretty unreal.

  • the group of nazi killed many inocent people...T_T

  • My friends grand parents were both German. The grand father was forced to side with the americans while the grand mother was forced to fight for the Reich. On day in the battle for the Reichstag the found each other in the Reichstag and went on to kill eachother

  • Brave young chaps.

  • brave lads.

  • my grandfather who had served ww2 rest his sould had always told me he hated them german bastards however he also said " war is a terrible thing" now I can realted to that

  • thank you .....for letting us have another day of freedom...thank you

  • Things always look better in B&W.

  • AMERICA IS GAY HEY HEY HEY

oh i hob so angst vor nem grünen

  • @Rukia8681

    einverstanden

  • My grandparent was on the axis side, he was captured by the Russians and put into a labor camp. He never did anything wrong he was just a soldier made to fight he had family and he was human just like everyone else. That's why I hate war, it makes you think the enemy isn't human and doesn't deserve to live.

  • @SlickyDave Same here my Grandfather was also on the axis side and was in Russia to. But that was Hitlers mistake causing a two front war if he didn't attack Russia our grandparents would have to invade Briton and this is what most people don't know but yeah I also hate war too because of that and even today people still hate Germans not as much and its because of Hitler.

  • @SlickyDave I agree 100%. Sometimes when I see a German soldier die in a WWII movie I don't think HA BAD GUY DOWN. I think about if that guy was conscripted or not.

  • @SlickyDave I'm sorry but some of the nazi's were just barely human and they did not deserve to live. Like Mengele...people like that need to die. I mean absolutely no disrespect to your grandparents though, but I would just like to make it clear that some Nazi's did not deserve to live.

  • @SlickyDave i disagree.... although i can't say for sure because i've never fought in a war. yes, some people act as if the enemy are animals, but there are a number of soldiers who respect their enemy. with war, it's kill or be killed. there's no time to empathize for the soldiers you're shooting at. but that doesn't mean that people enjoy killing other people. i think many veterans from WW2 (or any war) are filled with guilt for the people they killed. you're right though, war is awful.

  • @F50a84 Rapper is talking shit about u must watch Thats your upload ad your 84 ? hey go fuck yoruself You need a life and stay the fuck off other peoples

  • @paintballkid545 why would a man lie about being there? I appreciate all the sacrifice our military and our allies gave to stop Hitlers war machine. Remember If you can read this thank a teacher, if you can read it in english thank a vet

  • I went to Normandy and visited Omaha beach as a part of my officer training back at the RMAS. I felt really strong presence of the war though it was over may years ago, but I honestly could Imagine the scenes that took place there. I also went to the Normandy grave yard and read the names on the graves there, Americans, British, French, Christians, Jews, and believe it or not even Muslims. Just being there id an honor for me.

  • @jozeaphe many* (line 3) , is* (last line).

  • i had 2 family members in omaha. both lived. but they never talked about it. 3 years before one died he said" remmember that movie saving private ryan, i was in the beach in the beginning, i will never forget that day." Bod bless him and his fellow men in that beach that day. and to all US military troops.

  • @F50a84 Based on your viewing history you have the maturity of a 16 year old boy not an atleast 85-90 year old man. You did not serve there and if you did what was your rank, serial number, and division?

  • I went to the American grave in Normandy well done all you brave soldiers R.I.P

  • @F50a84 what was your rank

  • My great uncle was I'n ss he through babies into oven

  • @annabatarowicz i know hes your family but are you ashamed of him? i sure would be.

  • @drumgd41 im fukin proud man not many people can say that they,ve go a ss family member.. a.k.a cool as fuck

  • @annabatarowicz- What makes you think SS didn't have family like any other soldier. Lots of decendants of SS and other german military all over the world.

  • 300 german soldiers defending Omaha Beach to 34.000 Gi´s.

  • There would be a lot more pictures documenting this landing, but the developer developed them too quickly and ruined almost all of them.

  • @jeffo2448

Capa was hero, engineer who developed them too quickly is an arse ;-/ he set the dryer too high and melted the pictures.Capa took over 100 pics and i think only 11 "survived" Think that man for a second. He was in second assault squad or"wave" in Omaha.Equipped only with CAMERA., two of them.:-/ Holy shit....And he was first with U.S. 1st para to jump in germany WESEL other side of the river Rhine.Only with hes Cameras Respect to him TOO, so we can see history. R.I.P ALL OF YOU boys

  • just think of the age of the boys of men who gave their lifes for freedom. (which most us take for granted now)the were usally around the ages of 17-20.nor did they now what hell they were about to land on and yet they fought through it for us.just think about that.

  • Most of the pictures are not from Omaha. sorry to break it, but check out the background in "most" pictures, some are from the other beaches

  • In the USSR at that time, the battle went many times greater than on how many people, technology and inflame the fighting. And people perished many times more.

  • this was also during the events of call of duty2

  • some pics are from the italian front :)

  • Both of my grandfathers and my uncle were at D- day. My uncle was in the 101 first airbourn, the other two were at omaha and utah. My grandfather saw the movie saving private ryan and he said it was exactly the same, and the water was red from blood.

  • I really wish i fought with the men in WWII i really wish i could have

  • wow imagine the bravery of these men for real, what would we "internet generation" do here?

  • zieg hail

  • to me,this is the best battle in WW2 history

  • @godjason12 Not now asshole, we have real stories here, not "like my comment cause i lack moral sensebility for certain topics".

  • @spartans114s ummmm what?

  • My great grandfather was at omaha beach after he got back he told us stories about how a small bible in a pocket on his chest saved him about 3 bullets hit the bible and not him. He died in 09.

  • @noobsfearme no they call that hideing in a fox hole till the battle is over.

  • @21Blitz So what if he did? I wouldn't know I wasn't there. Even if he did he and everyone else there deserved to be honored. It must have been hell for those men watching some of there brothers and best friends getting blown up right in thier face. I don't see you fighting at omaha. I doubt you have even the slightest clue what they went through.

  • @noobsfearme yea war is hell that's why we like it so much.Whats with the"I don't see you fighting at omaha" comment. Well duh! you dickhead. I still think WW1 was still a blood bath. I rememeber reading storys about soilders forced to drink water in the trenches, with your best friends, dead next to you with there guts hanging out. And to wonder why people weren't the same comming back, if they came back....

  • @21Blitz What is your problem? have some respect for the lad

  • @noobsfearme Respect to you man!

  • @noobsfearme

    Bullshit,

    A bible cant stand 3 x 7,92 x 57 mm Mauser bullets.. wich is the mg42 bullet,

    Or else a mauser kar98k 3 x 7,92 mm bullets..

  • @rapefaceFTW It was a thick pocket bible made with black leather I have it in my attic somewhere maybe when I find it ill post some of my own pictures. Why can't you just show some respect for someone who fought in WW2? I didn't expect to get so much hate for trying to honor our troops.... jeez

  • @noobsfearme

    Ich ehre seines Großvaters Feind,

And dident say it as a "hate comment, just saying, its rather unlikely that the three bullets do hit the same bible.. and a bible is like 4x4cm?

And the bible would be torn to pieces from the first shot so..

  • @noobsfearme

I want picture of the bible, what was the company which he was on?? I pay respect to the "boys"...but i cant stand "gimme a finger up from this comment" guys, .... not saying you are but some details would be nice...starting company of yer grandpa and picture of the bible...??? May he and other rest in peace, knowing, they are not forgotten!!!!

  • @mynthon11 Ill find it in my grandmothers attic next time I go to visit her. Maybe you can find him online? His name was Edward Mahoney. No idea what division he was in either. My grandmother knows all this crap ill have to ask her.

  • @mynthon11 Also i didn't ask to get top comment i just tried to show some respect.

  • @rapefaceFTW Maybe it was a hardback ;)

  • @noobsfearme Was the bible made out of steel?

  • @BigMek456 no its called the POWA OF JESUS lol

  • @noobsfearme Respect and Hohnor

  • @noobsfearme 6th Liverpool Rifles. Cpl Richards He was shot but the bible saved his life David Knapp, a Korean War veteran, said a bullet hole in a Bible was

his testimony of God's protection.Patrick Caruso fought at Iwo Jima during WWII bookmark in the Bible carried in his

pocket over his heart, had been hit by a bullet. The Bible and its

    bookmark had saved his life

  • @noobsfearme 3 bullets failed to penetrate a book?

  • Thank God my father landed on Utah Beach on D+2. The bravery of the men who landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day is unimaginable! Before I die, I have to go to the cemeteries there and pay for my respects to those young men.

  • @lyvjab Glad your dad made it home. I visited Omaha and Utah beaches, the cemeteries, Pointe du Hoc, Ste Mer Eglise, etc., in '07. A very sobering experience, but very glad I went.

  • @lyvjab thank god they diddnt know before what was happening otherwise the army would have no soldiers xD

  • @lyvjab

Pay your respect to the young soldiers of germany, too ;)

    they deserve it

  • Pictures of heroes that started the road toward victory. None of us can thank you enough for what all of you did to keep our world free.

  • 3:27 picture is in our history book!

  • Does anyone where i can get high resolution versions of those grand pictures like the one at 4:40 ? Especially that one is just amazing!

  • @Danteii55 Yes. Search for "normandy landings" on Google. and take pictures (of course). You will see it there ;)

  • some pics taken from saving private ryan too

  • @sinhil Ehmm? which pictures?

  • Half of these men in the higgens boats could all have been killed that day thanked you for sharing these pictures

  • so,as it seems, the movies are showing it wrong.in real life, they seem to go where they want to without enemies firing at them.they are relaxed.but in saving pvt ryan,A LOT of shit happen!

  • @TheGreekSniperZ This looks to be a day or 2 after the main invasion.

  • @shananagans5 oooh ok thanks for replying!!

  • @TheGreekSniperZ It was a very rough landing & they moved men & supplies in for days after. My grandfather was an engineer & he went in on day 3 or 4 & the few photos he has look very similar to these.

  • @shananagans5 ah so ur grandfather fought.ur grandfather is a hero!my grandfather fought with the greek side and he got shot in the head by the germans.those who went on day 3 and 4 on omaha beach must have been lucky !!

  • @TheGreekSniperZ So you think they have time to take photos in battle?

  • @Voddgreen sorry man i didnt know it...

  • @TheGreekSniperZ No need to say sorry ;)

  • @Voddgreen :)

  • No it starts in 1998 showing Private ryan visiting the cementary in normady!
