  • ppl who have the blackscreen of death cant get into windows via normal or safe mode so how are thye going to change these setting you moron....

  • wow

    do u play silkroad?

  • @MrAlpha7 oh lol good eye. i played it for like a week and didnt like it. this video was made almost 4 years ago. dont know what its like now

  • @ProjectZro i still play sro but i have this problem...the monitor goes says "Power saving mode " but the PC doesn`t shut down...maybe in sleep mode, can u help me please ?:)

  • So, let me get this clear. When I cannon start Windows Vista because of the Black Screen of Death, I have to make some power setting changes from inside Windows Vista.

And then you tell me that if this doesn't fix it, it's a hardware fault and should go back to the manufacturer. I managed to fix this with the extreme method of formatting. NO HARDWARE FAULT.

I bet your mother thinks you are SPECIAL!!

  • um i cant see the video :/

  • hello

  • How am I supost to fix this problem if I cant watch the video that tells me how to fix it?

  • You a bleach fan?

  • @TheKenoProduction how did you guess? lol

  • @ProjectZro Im one myself!

  • When I saw this, I was like no way this would solve it. So I tried it, and it actually worked! :D Thx a lot for this fix.

  • Wow.. I can't believe it actually worked. I tried everything on the net to fix the crashes on a Gateway and then found this easy fix. This solved it thanks!

  • @AvilAlite im glad this helped your problem. i found out recently its from a defective CPU that for some reason has to be underclocked to work properly instead of what it is rated for. i found if you try and tweek it by even .001 GHz it crashes even in windows 7.

  • @ProjectZro Yeah by now it was a temporary fix. Black screen is acting up again now but less frequently. I'll try underclocking.

  • @AvilAlite try looking for a bios update from the manufacturer site

  • Hey. I was downloading a game for my brother and I got a blue screen of death followed by a reboot of the system. Now when it boots I get a black screen with the cursor. I tried recovery but it doesn't work, should I just keep trying? I can get into Safe mode though (which is how I'm typing this right now).

  • @Namurashi I think your hard disk is broken because it also happend to me and my hard disk was broken .

  • What's unbuntu? An how would I do that?

  • @ProjectZro are u serious? There's no other fix? WTF am I going to do about all my stuff????????

  • @randy7027 i suggest an external hard drive and ubuntu to retrieve your stuff

  • @ProjectZro ok I turned it on hit safe mood and its still doing it. :|

  • @randy7027 looks like you need to reinstall. sorry :-/

  • @ProjectZro yeah when i boot up it does everything normally but right before the welcome screen with the user names and all that good stuff the screen just stays black, u can tell there's a backlight and the cursor still..idk what it is..I come gone from a friends get on and it was like that, tried restarting didn't help. Idk who did what or why it's happening.

  • @randy7027 ok boot into safe mode by pressing F8 while booting click on safe mode and let it boot. if you get to your desktop click on your start orb and in the search type "Recovery" and roll back your computer to when you know it was working. sounds like an update broke it. it does it to me all the time

  • This video is a fail...how am I supposed to do anything u said if my screen goes black before the login screen.....

  • @randy7027 because this addresses bios issue that occurs after the login screen, about 20-30 minutes of use then it goes black. your problem is unrelated. but to me it sounds like your video card may have died, do you still see the backlight on and or here the normal boot up sounds?

  • I don't think anyone has this but if i play games that i downloaded and i play and sometimes the screen is flickering and there are white stripes in the screen is this fixable i got vista

  • @Jiglojay123 yes get windows 7 lol. but try messing around with the video settings of the games or updating your video drivers.

  • does this work for when im on my laptop and in middle when i been on there for while it just turns black and i have to restart it.

  • @stellarkartfan16 yes this is for that specific problem. but this was a fix for toshiba computers so its not 100%

  • wooo go bleach!

  • my computer goes into sleep mode as soon as i start it up. wtf!! help somebody.

  • @TheSKYizFalling hmmm havnt herd of that one. boot into safe mode and check your power setting

  • nothing works and i dont have the disk, ive been using my desktop for the last 3 days.

my deskyp is a windows xp,and my laptop is vista home basic,64gbit.

crt, alt, del, just takes me back to rite when u first boot the computer up.

    crt,alt,esc does nothing at all.

so,what can i do. Plz help me,im not great at techonlogy terms,so try to keep it simple. If i absolutely need to get the disc, then I will, but that is a last resort.

Please any help would be appericated.

  • @Playlists4Ever well unfortunitly getting the disk is your only option. i suggest surfing the piratebay for a vista home basic 64 bit disk to download for the product key underneath should still work but only for that version. if you cant then goto the manufacturers website and they should offer a reinstall disk for some were around $20

  • @ProjectZro

    thanks 4 the help.

  • can any1 help me, same problem but with XP. and i can get past login screen

  • @danieldvs100 when u get the prob solved pls tell me , ill add u now . if i got it first i tell u ;D

  • @N3lim k, i accepted ur invite. i herd of one way but i didn't work 4 me but w/e. they said to go into bios (press delete alot) when ur pc turns on, go to the boot tab. then go the boot options. select ROM-DVD/CD/DVD then if you have it, put the installation DVD in.

  • Just tried it nothing happens

  • HELP!!! I've got the black screen of death and all I can see is the cursor. I'm running windows 7 and I can't ctrl alt dlt. Any suggestions. Ps don't have any disk what so ever! :'-(

  • @Jonesjc219 unfortunitly i cant help you there for i have not had this problem with 7. try Ctrl Alt Esc instead. if not windows key + R

  • k i have black screen of death. I have a very low volume and only this thing is showing. Can anyone help me get rid of it? please i really need my computer to get fix. I have tried all of it but it didnt work. I have no start bar and no toolbar. PLease some help me =(

  • @0895julio hit ctrl+alt+esc and click new task and type " explorer.exe " without the quotes. if that works go into your system updates and start to uninstall them one by one till the computer boot normally

  • @ProjectZro right, i can do it but the black screen keeps coming up and it is annoying since i have to do tht task manager thing evrytime i went to log in

  • @Martino010 ok start uninstalling updates till it works. best bet is till the time it stopped working then reupdate. chances are they fixed it and you didnt get it

  • what option did you select in edit plan settings/plan mode, my speakers dont work because i'm running in safe mode.

  • Problem : I cant do anything I turn my computer on, log in and the screen is black :S

  • @Twistiie does anything happen when you hit Ctrl+Alt+ESC ?

  • @Twistiie I have the same problem please help

  • i wish this worked in regards to The Sims 2... but it doesn't. Sad.

  • @thecapnmonmon change the resolution of the game might help

  • @ProjectZro everything from running in windowed mode to regedit - nothing. lower resolution was the first thing i tried. stumping the EA guys right now... lol.

  • @thecapnmonmon well damn. i think to get mine to work i had to run it in compatibility mode set to windows 2000

  • @ProjectZro awesome, will try.

  • thanks so much! I was looking on google and they were saying stuff about getting rid of drivers :S

  • @XDmarcsyoXD yah that is usually the first thing you do, uninstall and reinstall. but in my case it didnt help it was just windows vista, and toshiba fixed it with a Bios update. the worse thing was that it didnt do it in linux but at the time wifi didnt work (it does now) and windows 7 wasnt out yet, but it is now and im loving life.

  • @Paramorexgreenday your a bellend

  • it did and that is how i fixed it

  • @ProjectZro

i got this.. couldnt even turn on my comp just a blank black screen.. had to get fixed

  • This is happening to my Presario C500. When I start up it shows a black screen and I can only go into safe mode....

I even tried to do this "powercfg -h on" in safe mode command prompt but it says VgaSave driver is preventing me from hibernating. Please help

  • mine was set to 5% on windows 7 default settings

  • they all are this was for the toshiba satellite a215 bug wich was fixed with there new bios update

  • NOT TRUE NOOB

  • what isnt true?

  • hey i did the thing after a day wich is today it turned black again

  • goto the manufacturer website and see if they have a BIOS update for your particular model. sorry the video is out of date and i need to change it

  • Hey, how ca i open recovery mode during the instalation. i don't get it.

  • there should be an option before you install windows somewere i dont know where because it is different for OEM and retail disks.

  • do you know for the OEM? i have windows vista ultimate 32 bit OEM

  • i have no clue its different on each computer.

  • do you have msn you can easily explain to me, i don't get it

  • Hey, i have a problem with the black screen, during the installation of windows vista. When my my pc restart for the last time comes a black screen whit the text ''BOOTING WINDOWS VISYA'' ACPI LOADER 2.1.2 after 10 min the text goes away and there's only a black screen. do u have solutions for my problems?

  • try reinstalling, if you have and the problem keeps comming back goto the recoverymode of the install disk and pull up the camand prompt, type chkdsk and let it run to see if there are bad sectors if it comes back clean then check the disc for scratches and flaws. without an OS a disk drive can be very picky about scratches.

    Hope this helped

  • sorry this is the proper command chkdsk /f /r C:

  • @00dumboo You might want to find out what component is damaged first.

  • Comment removed

  • my xp hp gets a black screen the lights turn on for a sec and the disc drive works then shuts off how you fix this problem i bet they fucked all the xp hps so you have to go out and buy windows 7 hp booo

  • i dont think they would do that. but try popping in an xp disk if it wont allow that then it is a bios problem and the mother board needs to be sent in to be reflashed. also try removing the ram and clean it off with an eraser and replace it, if that didnt work then i go to the previous statement or the board is fried. it happened to mine before

  • when I start up my computer, it says the following:

"A disk read error has occured. Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete to restart"

And when I restart my computer, it just says the same thing.

Please help! How do I fix this?

  • it sounds like your hard drive is dead. try using your re-installation disk and if that didnt change anything then you need to get a new hard drive sorry to say.

  • @ProjectZro It could also be a problem with the disk controller.

  • my computer starts up but just beeps it does,t boot up nothing happens it just beeps what isd\ rong with it? i tried restarting but that didn't work nothing is helping.

  • try removing the ram cleaning the pins with an eraser and make sure the power cord and port on the computer dont have gunk in them

  • alright thx mate

  • I turn on my computer and it switched on but the screen is black it says its loading i leaved it for a day and it still didnt work..

How do i fix it? DO i just send it away to my computer administrator?

    Or my local Toshiba Company???

  • if its still under warranty take it back to the computer admin. if not send it to toshiba or if you have a installation disk do that cuz thats all there going to do

  • Buddy, Let me say something here. I am a US Army Blackhawk helicopter pilot. I am currently deployed in Iraq. I knew about the power management thing BUT I never noticed the advances link U directed me to and if I did I would have never have known about the setting. My Min and Max setting were both set to 5%. I have maxed them out to 100% likie U suggested. Now all I can do is see if it crashes again.

  • also look on the manufacturer web site for BIOS update. It didnt come out for toshiba A215 models till last year to fix this issue, that may be a better solution.

  • If I PLay A Game Like Gta on My Computer The Screen Goes back

how do i reapir my display driver

  • @ddssaa30 You can try reinstalling your video card drivers

  • I had this problem not too many days ago.. can I do this in Safe Mode? or do i need to be in normal mode? because my Vista 32-bit login screen doesn't even appear!!!

  • all man... it worked i was gonna get a mac too... huh i still might

  • Task Manager won t come out !! Do I use safe mode

  • it wont hurt

  • hey umm is this the solution to my problems?

some of my games *gunbound and 02jam*

has a black screen but i can hear the sounds?

im not on vista and im NVIDIA

  • no sorry. that sounds like either a driver problem, Direct X, or resolution issue. or try reinstalling the game with compatebility turned on ( right click on install file, click on compatebility tab, and check the box)

  • dont worry i have no idea how i did it but when i tried playing it

i can see it :D i think its because of the error message i have to be quick of canceling it and wala xD

    P.S. thanks anyway

  • i got on pc

  • i have a problem, but what i think i did wrong was that i put my laptop on hibernate, then i accidentally turned it off, and when i tried to turn it on, the screen was black, now if i was to look at my scrren really carefully, i can see, but its my back light that doesnt work anymore because of what i did, you think you kan help

  • you need the vista install disk to do a fresh install just put it in it should prompted you to press any key to boot from disk and use the recovery wizard. i dont know much further for im using a toshiba computer so the prosses is different

  • @kiddo646 you can try adjust the brightness settings, if that doesen't help you can try re-seating the cables between the backlight and the inverter

  • yow it ididnt work mann..i need ur help im tryin to play this game it keeps ackin out....mannn msg me.

  • someone plz help whenever i load the black screen comes up but i cant press ctrl-alt-delete nothing shows up someone plz help

  • i was haveing the same problem.. then i updated the client and it was fine try that maby? =3

  • look for a bios update for that computer. if you cant get into windows at all try finding a live version online. if you see nothing even from a cold boot take it back to the store.

  • i restored it to factory settings and now it works thanx

  • hi can you please tell me how u restored it to factory settings,

also will this delete evrythin i hve and start vista fresh?

im using a desktop pc :D

  • click ctrl atl delete then click new task then type explorer.exe and there you go.

But my problem is different i cant log on its black from when the bar with the green lines are passing then it goes black

  • oh i havnt even herd of that yet

  • well thats how you fix it but my problem is different and it freaking sucks

  • ty that helped me i was freaking out my computer is broken lol thank you so much

  • You're one fucking amazing dude 'joshrawks21' !! IT WORKED !! Thank you so much !!

  • Nope=/ didn't work...

  • this did not solve my problem plz messsage me back

  • im usng a Nvidia 9600 GeForce graphics card and windows vista 32 bit, I seem to get a black screen only when i play video games, its a fairly new graphics card also,

  • try messing with the graphics card settings or update the bios on your computer. also try to play in windowed mode . some times the computer doesnt like resetting the resolution and only gives you a black screen, or that resolution doesnt exist in the game Iv had that happen alot

  • cntrl alt delete

    task manager

    new task

    explorer.exe

every time after logoff or rs

  • try uninstalling some updates and see what happens if that wont work look on the manfacturer web site for a bios update but the updates may be the cause

  • Okay, If you try this and it doesnt work, probably the problem is not with your windows vista OS at all. If your computer Laptop or PC, has a NVIDIA graphic card, it is most likely that your VC is the problem. You see many NVIDIA cards even though they say they are compatible with Vista they arent, so when your video card NVIDIA needs to communicate with the OS (like for controlling the fans etc.) your OS does not respond to you VC requests.

  • no this is for ppl with ATI graphics cards on top of that its integrated so im sol without this fix. but ill look into it seeing as it works fine in linux. im still looking for an alternative so i can save my battery life

  • Your audio sucks

  • yah i was stuck using the built in sound

  • you're awesome because your background is Bleach =D

  • yea, I contacted my tech support guy and tried reseting the CMOS but that didn't help, then I discovered a red flashing light on the graphics card. It's not looking good :(

  • ahhh, my monitor was working relatively well except for the menu would pop up randomly. then it froze, so I rebooted and all I could get was an amber stand-by light.. I've switched it out with another monitor and am getting the same result? any advice?

  • sounds like the graphics card bit the dust

  • youuuu are pretty great you know.

    I applaud you.

    Let's get married.

    <3

  • what happens if nuthin shows up when i start vista (start menu, icons, wallpaper, etc.), only my documents shows up?

  • god i hate that, press ctrl+shift+esc press new task type explorer.exe wait for it to boot all the way and delete the updates from december. that should fix your problem.

  • thank you i was almost going to pay 100 dollars but thnx

  • Does that re boot your comp?

  • nm i got it but when i shut off my comp and restart it, it just does it again... :()

  • no but you should reboot after

  • Omfg, lmao

    Thanks alot man

I was freakin out a little

I downloaded a free ms generator and got fucked over

Imma fucking idiot, but thanks! :D

  • Dang man explorer.exe don't work.

  • if you are getting nothing but a black screen on boot up then you have a update conflict what you need to do is hit ctrl+Shift+esc and click new task and type explorer.exe and goto the update manager and start deleting your most resent updates until the problem goes away if its been happening since last year delete the december updates. if you cant even get explorer.exe to run with task manager then you may need to reinstall windows.

  • I fix this problem by uninstall the updates. That's the problem

  • hey thx that was life saver ecspecially durin a paper!! :D

    God Bless
