Snipes being cast as BLADE was epic for one reason, HE WAS A REAL MARTIAL ARTIST!!! and a pretty decent actor that could carry a movie, that's why anyone else playing Blade is an automatic fail, the only other actor that could play Blade and make it work is Micheal Jai White.

...but I think this series tried to push an element and say that "Blade is getting older" and is thus becoming less effective.

I only watched the pilot, and wasn't really feeling it. The swordplay is the thing that let the series down for me, too slow, they should've got people in that can fight with swords properly. good guy kicks ass then gets disarmed and starts to lose. starts to win again after disarming his opponent. bad guy delivers a devastating blow, turning the tables. as good guy's about to die (after having his ass KICKED), he grabs sword etc and kills the bastard (could also snap neck/back, or rip head off).

Wesley Snipes was a superb Blade to be sure. But I think Kirk Jones did a superb job with his rendition of Blade....Much like the KEATON vs BALE debate over who was the best Batman...its not really fair to say that one is better than the other because its a totally different version of the material...and the BEST doesnt mean the others were useless or not entertaining.

One season was not a fair trial. It was fun and graphic and simplisitc but also had a complex multilayered story. Much like the show LOST. As the story evolves and more of each characters past is revealed makes them interesting. Its a shame as I know fans wanted more seasons because there was so much more to learn. Vampire Clans, The history of Shen, The history of Chase, as well as all the more established characters, crossovers with other marvel characters etc.
