Sigh.. anime isn't the same without it's original voice overs... why can't people just stop being lazy and read the subs in their respective language?
I really don't get it. I could never watch One Piece in spanish for example, my mind just wouldn't allow it. I gues it lacks the original feelings. That's what our voices transmit to each other.. our emotions are not only in our hearts, minds or faces, but in our voices too and i guess that way, changing the original voices just kills the anime.

And then I listened it again and it was already good one. Has everyone already noticed how Nami's tatoo changes to the more detailed version whenever her past is brought up. Other than that it is a simpler design.
@tee2pot It's just a different tattoo isn't it? The one arlong gave her is the one in the past. Then she had that one removed and had the one with the tangerine and windmill tattooed on her after arlong was beaten.
A couple times a year me and my brothers will stay up all night and beat video games from start to finish. We put on One Piece in Funimation english since it be hard to watch it and play games while subbed. Obviously i didn't like it at first, but as i watched more of it I found it actually enjoyable, the voices didn't seem as bad (by the way, I watched the series subbed first). I've seen East Blue, Drum and Arabasta in english, And found that I like it.
Whenever I want someone to get interested in One Piece, I tell them the gist of this story arc. Seven times out of ten, I get the person hooked on One Piece.

This is definitely one of the best OP amv, and its quite emotional. I'm surprised though, that you could find such a good amv about Nami, but I can't seem to find a good one about Robin, and lets face it, out of the whole crew her story is the saddest.
dub version just sounds too scripted for my liking. Like it doesn't sound like they're having a conversation they're just reading words off of paper. WHERES THE EMOTION IN IT!!!
@Rider4Z Yeah, some dubs work really well. The Death Note one's not bad, though I still prefer subbed. I do think you did the right thing with this AMV though, the Japanese wouldn't fit with the song properly
I agree, I prefer watching the subbed version of most (if not, all) anime, but I personally think that Funimation does an amazing job dubbing One Piece the way it should be. Heck, i might even start watching the dubbed version to see how well they did. However, something that really bugs me is how a lot of people (obviously, not everyone) go into a fanatically radical level as to refer Funimation as the "Great Funimation" and flaming anyone who says their dubs are "ok" or decent.
@RedSpiderZero I have a problem with how some words are lost in the translation, like namaka was a word Oda semi made up it is more than just "friends" its the people who you unconditionally love the most. But besides that i agree.
@forgotm Unfortunately, there's no other word in English that can mean something closer than friend...it's just language difference...I don't know if there's anything we can do about that...but what bothers me most is sometimes Funimation for some reason don't keep the original conversation, they change it to something completely different...

@hateisstrength100 thank you for your support. i understand both sides tho. i have no problem with the japanese dub at all, i'm just a big funimation supporter because of their effort and heart to remain as true to the original meanings as possible. from what i understand there's no word in the english language that exactly matches nakama. so it turns a couple people off.

I've never been more impressed with an amv before. It captures the elements of the aarlong episodes perfectly and matched seamlessly with the music. I teared up a little while watching.

robin right off the bat lost everything and was hunted by the marine since she was 8
choper never was accepted neither by his familly neither by the humans and when he finally found some1 he could be happy with he died (those episodes made tear up)
but nothing made me cry as much as broks past when every1 on his crew was dying while singing for the last time for laboon really moved...but namis is sad as hell too
i have watched lors of animes, some were funny some were sad, one piece has scenes that make me think i would cry, the scene when they walk of is legendary to me and from when i was a kid i always remembering him gong 'nami you'll always be my friend'. this amv is one of the best ive seen in a long time, they should use the scene they walk of to fght from ths and put it in the actual anime, its my favourite.
@NSZ951LIZS Watchcartoononline. It has megavideo, facebook and another one i cant remember in dubbed for one piece.Funimation and the official one piece website has them as well with Hulu but some episodes are missing for some wierd reason.
This Captures the best of One Piece, i mean its so brilliant how the characters get tied to you and then when something happens to them, you feel either upset or happy depending if its good or bad :]

understanding this deeper meaning of attachment is easy to see why the characters react the way they do when the term is used in this matter they are not simply crewmates or companions nor they are just good friends they are much more than this and yet not in a romantic matter. this is nakama and being changed to "friend" doesnt make justice to the meaning they put in the series and thats why on the subs it is not translated since episode 38.
@Rider4Z it is more general and it changes in emphasis according to the situation one piece's nakama can either mean "comrade, ally crew member" "friend/ mate/ partner"
for this arc, and generally for luffy usage of the word through the entire series to talk about a nakama
is to talk about someone who is both cared deeply for and who shares the same road in life.it has a double
meaning of best friend and partnership and is therefore, difficult to translate.

This is such a beautiful AMV. It makes me want to cry. One Piece has such deep meaning. In Nami's arc and what the Strawhats did for her isa sign of everlasting friendship and it makes me want to cry ;u;

@vallgron Okay... Well dubbing doesn't matter in a amv does it? Cause typically amvs do not have the sounds of the original product playing at the same time, if only to add effect. Just appreciate it for what it is.
@Garylisk you're half right. it is a common trick, but it wasn't used in that scene. that's raw animation. it does look like more effort was put into animating the movements tho, especially cuz of the angle..

i have watched lors of animes, some were funny some were sad, one piece has scenes that make me think i would cry, the scene when they walk of is legendary to me and from when i was a kid i always remembering him gong 'nami you'll always be my friend'. this amv is one of the best ive seen in a long time, they should use the scene they walk of to fght from ths and put it in the actual anime, its my favourite.

@NSZ951LIZS Watchcartoononline. It has megavideo, facebook and another one i cant remember in dubbed for one piece.Funimation and the official one piece website has them as well with Hulu but some episodes are missing for some wierd reason.

This Captures the best of One Piece, i mean its so brilliant how the characters get tied to you and then when something happens to them, you feel either upset or happy depending if its good or bad :]

@Rider4Z im used to hear luffy in japanese cuz...u know thats the original voice of luffy and i dont really like sentimental amv but i think this one is very appropriated and its pretty good too i just think that if he had used the original voice it would have been better

there have been plenty of people who didn't like the dub but were respectful and thorough in their comments. so i gave them respect back and accepted their opinion. those who say "the dub sux" (or whatever) without anything constructive is idiotic and bias.

understanding this deeper meaning of attachment is easy to see why the characters react the way they do when the term is used in this matter they are not simply crewmates or companions nor they are just good friends they are much more than this and yet not in a romantic matter. this is nakama and being changed to "friend" doesnt make justice to the meaning they put in the series and thats why on the subs it is not translated since episode 38.

@Rider4Z it is more general and it changes in emphasis according to the situation one piece's nakama can either mean "comrade, ally crew member" "friend/ mate/ partner"
for this arc, and generally for luffy usage of the word through the entire series to talk about a nakama
is to talk about someone who is both cared deeply for and who shares the same road in life.it has a double
meaning of best friend and partnership and is therefore, difficult to translate.

nakama is a very important word in the world of one piece, on the dub it is translated as "friend"
a normal dictionary would translate it as "a company, met, group, party, cricle, gang,companion, fellow
mate, college, associate etc."
to say "the tiger belongs to the cat familly" you can use nakama in japanese
in one piece the meaning is not strict to any of the proper definitions.

@vallgron Okay... Well dubbing doesn't matter in a amv does it? Cause typically amvs do not have the sounds of the original product playing at the same time, if only to add effect. Just appreciate it for what it is.

@Garylisk you're half right. it is a common trick, but it wasn't used in that scene. that's raw animation. it does look like more effort was put into animating the movements tho, especially cuz of the angle..
