@Deangist i have a 525d e61 from 2004 and it poke's the redline to but with mine i have to push the throttle and the last bit give a click and than it revs till red line

@Deangist That hasn't got too much to do with the gearbox.

The thing is though, that most car manufacturers will display a redline at 8000 rpm while the engine can i.e. max rev at 6500 rpm. Just selling points.
