Gotta love Koichi Sugiyami. Never heard this one before, but I knew it was his within 2 seconds. Reminds me especially of the overworld themes for Chapters 2 and 5 (before you get the wagon) of DQ:IV.

In DQ6, there're two world map themes, the present and the past ones... one is slower, in a lower tone and has more depth... this one is more adventurous...

Oh my. I didn't know this song's actually from Dragon Quest 6. It's just that I've played Dragon Quest Monsters, and one of the close-to-boss maps is this. I guess DQM must have borrowed some DQ songs for the game.

Yeah all of the "close-to-boss" map BGMS are taken directly from the normal overworld map themes of the other Dragon Quest games. Depending on the song it played, the boss monster was from whichever game the song was taken from. So for example, in all of the maps that had this theme, the boss monster was from Dragon Quest 6

Why does nobody post the Dragon Quest VI battle theme? It's by far the hardest and best of the entire series when it comes to battle tunes.

Ah, gotta love Toriyama's lack of originality, he's been making money drawing combinations of the same 10-15 characters for decades. Not to say that he's a bad designer, his characters are great... but definitely repetitive.

I think it's mostly that he doesn't concentrate on hair and facial features and instead differentiates his characters by their clothing.

Akira Toriyama, creator of DB, is the one who designs the look of the characters in I believe all the Dragon Quest/Warrior games. It appears there has to be at least one "Dragon" somewhere in the title for him to do his work.

I love that song. It was reused in the DQ Monster series, and maybe even in other DQ games, but I'm not sure.
