I saw this movie a few years ago and wanna see it again lol i almost cried for godzilla thinking he was going to die (i was 6 or 7 years old) lol so i'm confused he get's owned and blood is quirting from his neck then he appears at a volcano that confuses me.
It may not be the best, but it definitely has the best battles in the showa series. The end battle is one of the greatest monster fights in the history of the universe (if not THE greatest)!!
@baranguirus I must agree. The final battle was really epic and showed off more of Mecha Godzilla's weapons and abilities! And his all-out attack is definatley what I call an arsenal of weapons. And he even got Godzillla to lost tons of blood! Gigan was the first to get blood out of Godzilla but that was only a bit compared to here.I say this and the final battle of Terror of Mecha Godzilla are the best battles of the 70s really (:
I think Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla (1974) is the best Godzilla movie ever made second only to Ghidorah the Three-Headed Monster (1964). And damn !, wasn't Fake Godzilla's beat-down of Anguirus the meanest and most viscious beat-down you ever seen ?! I think MG along with Destroyah has been Godzilla's greatest opponent yet.
This was an International trailer created for other English language speaking countries. It was probably created at the same time as the film was released in Japan; 1974. It wasn't until much later (late 80's or early 90's) that Toho began standardizing the monster names in the U.S, which would explain the spelling here. One of the changes was "King Seesar" being changed to "King Caesar". "Angillas" being changed to "Anguirus" is another notable change in this particular film.
I used to watch this movie everyday when I was a kid. I really want to see it again, but I'm fearing that it may not be easy to find now. Is that the case?
certainly not - after the 1998 godzilla remake flopped- toho not only re-released all their older pree 1985 godzilla films but all the ones that were NEVER released here in the USA such as godzilla vs. spacegodzilla to godzilla vs. destroyah and so on.
Certainly not! Sony released a dual-language, anamorphic widescreen edition in 2004. It's bare bones special features-wise, but the movie looks stunning. It's still available in most video stores.

is this a new movie? must be, i wasnt aware we had special fx this advanced yet. are the monsters CG? i dont see how, they look extremely realistic, as if they are actually living creatures of some sort, perhaps wearing some kind of material that makes them look like 'monsters.'
Nope! The film was made in 1974 and uses the fantastic technique of "suitamation", which involves actors wearing latex monster suits. Sounds corny on paper, but these films have so much heart that you take everything for what it is, and end up loving it .
Great trailer, great Godzilla film. Bravo to the uploader of this video for finding such a rarity.
Not jus that but the entire set pieces and effect shots as well see Toho's staff and crew but there hearts and souls into making these fabulous hand-crafted effects and they should be proud of it. They have done things Hollywood could only dream to do.
Sweet memories of childhood are returning ;( I remember that I was always scaried of that movie, when I was a kid because it was so bloody and it had scary music good coupled/reaching with the moments. Through this film I began to see the landscapes of clouds :D
My mommy always loved me, I can tell you that. But one thing she taught me well was to never like people with excessive pride. So I suggest you take your made-up stories of the past and shove it because no one cares. It's a simple fact, ask anyone.
Anyone who tries to pull you into a spamer- discussion (on a vid-channel) is nothing else but worth consultant. So I do not even have to read what did you rite :)
The only anus I see here is you. Great Godzilla movie ever? Spoken like somebody who doesn't know too much. Godzilla hardly appears in this movie. This was like the second to last Godzilla movie and the last didn't well financially. King Caesar was so good we didn't see him for what thirty years? LOL Next time try to come up with an argument without looking like a tool.
There just wasn't enough Godzilla in it for me, and the side story with aliens is far too long and boring unlike Godzilla vs. Monster Zero which to me was more entertaining. Great finale though.
My favorite part is Miyarabi's Prayer, when she is singing to awaken King Cezar. I was three when I first saw it, I'm 21 now and I still pop it in the VCR whenever I get the urge.
i love this godzilla vs mecha godzilla 1974 i have the 6 inch bandai movie monster series toys of godzilla, King seesar, and mechagodzilla 1974 and fake godzilla i have three copies of the movie and the trailer. Best movie in the world. I am a godzilla i have over 50 godzilla toys including onne big 20 inch toy of godzilla cool!!!!!!!!!!!!
Some of these scenes that some of you are referring to, like Fake Godzilla transforming during the day were used just for the trailer alone. It's fairly obvious by it's presentation. The scene of King Caesar and MG fighting was however, cut out.
This trailer uses the original Japanese trailer as it's source, and simply translates (or attempts to)the Japanese characters that were on screen before.
I have this Movie on TriStar 50th Aniversary Edition. High Quality. I would put on YouTube for you Godzilla's Fan if I knew how to rip it off the disc and if YouTube never had the CopyRight contract.
I don't remember the scene with the fake godzilla and real godzilla boxing or the scene with fake godzilla transforming into mechagodzilla at daytime but it could be I don't remember the first scene because I haven't seen the movie in a long time but I'm positive the scene with fake godzilla transforming at daytime isn't in the movie because in the movie he transforms at night at a refinery. So some of these scenes may be deleted scenes.
Yeah, most of them are, but the cool camera angles of the fight on the oier were cut out, and the music is different in this trailer in the movie. This was disapointing because it was replaced with a "Big Band" soundtrack. They could have at LEAST used Akira Ifikubes original compositions1
Japanese Version of the Showa Series of Godzilla have all scene. English Version of the Showa Series of Godzilla deleted some scene that weren't needed or weren't very important to the main plot. I know cause I saw Godzilla V.S. Megalon in both versions.
This is the best video on YouTube.
