  • btw, you should know that if you use a single image, the file (so the streaming) is more efficient

it takes hours to "download" your stupid animation where it should normaly go fast if you used 1 single image (do that with the teletubies, or bieber, next time)

btw it does exists on the net without the animation

so, of course pepole get mad, they are always astounded by other's stupidity

what a waste of time for fuck sake

    way to go fucking looser

  • usual music, animation, ... the only thing that matters is the message

i can't believe, some are so bored that they end up wasting their time doing this

    nice, but, honestly, fucking useless.....

  • THIS is truth

  • pineal gland...

  • kinda creepy

  • eno..:)

  • Don't not be silly! Or do.Don't not be,or don't.

  • i dont like it when he tries to make his followers giggle later in his life cuz it's like he is preaching to the choir to try to keep his guru status - that's why i prefer the black and white vids when he was young--even if the topic is the same--cuz he seems serious in trying to spread his ideas to the world... or maybe im being too critical

  • @mephatboi what you're noticing is the point in which Alan Watts gave up "preaching". He did make an active decision to change his approach because he began to view himself as more of an entertainer than any sort of "guru" or "teacher". He's explained many times that he didn't want to be seen as such, and so by making his guests laugh, he is merely accomplishing exactly what he set out to do.

  • a dragonhuman, with courage and wisdom. He is like me.

  • I think if this was a radio broadcast, it would have a greater impact.(Like the difference between a book & movie)

  • audio i mean.. fag

  • for fucks sake where the original video you homo?

  • Why does EVERY UPLOADER *INSIST* on adding crappy music?

Not only is Alan having to work with words when Silence is the best method of relaying these things, but now you've added more noise on top of it. It's a distraction.

  • He gets me with "the root of an enormous amount of trouble" being that of our interference with what will healthely, and spontaneously, happen by itself. His message is clear, truthful and must be, I think, something he discovered spontaneously, without trying, without racking his brain with useless knowledge until he couldn't think, and this is why we should listen to him. It's good to hear a voice that found itself...

  • i started out in a half laugh half genuine cry when he said "The universe is playful. There is no necessity for it." Because I remembered it all again.

  • Have the guts to be creative without having to piggy back on other genius.

  • @amethod75 this wasn't an effort to be "creative", I simply wanted to play around with some software. You ought to be more thoughtful before making some pretty crude accusations.

  • @jesslafleur Criticism is an important part of art.

  • @amethod75 that wasn't criticism, it was an assumption. Criticism would have been commenting on the poor quality of the animation, or the volume of the music over the original audio. Your comment wasn't criticism.

  • @jesslafleur On my planet it is...

    noun

    1. the act of passing judgment as to the merits of anything.

  • Ah, but there is the problem, you've quoted a definition you weren't using. You specified this in a artistic context using the words "art" and "creative". Your use was such: "the act or art of analyzing and evaluating or judging the quality of a literary or artistic work, musical performance, art exhibit, dramatic production, etc." However, it simply was not meant to be an "artistic work". Your use of criticism is simply invalid based on what you said. You've already established what you meant.

  • @jesslafleur Fact is, without Alan behind it no one would watch the video. People come here to hear him speak, the title implies no modification, and we get a crappy edit instead. If you are going to put so little thought into constructing your video, be prepared for the comments.

  • @amethod75 I have no problem with comments, I could have disabled them. There was infact no editing done, only the addition of a background soundtrack. The lecture was given to me in three pieces so I have not changed that. So the fact it's "crappy" can be chalked up to someone else :) (except the music, which is by all means "my doing") The REASONS there is anything at all is the fault of Alan's son. He prohibits the raw uploading of his father's work, so animations/music is necessary. Ask him.

  • @jesslafleur If he was going to give it away, he would post it himself on his own channel -- I actually think he should; I would subscribe. Regardless, ive said my piece, good luck.

  • Lol I like the way you have done this mate well done I really liked like this peace be with u all

  • The music destrys the video

  • This background music is pissing me off, I'm trying to pay attention to what he says but all i hear is that music

  • where is part 3?? wtf, my day is ruined, no part 3.

  • this guy is pretty smart

  • @mrzack888 thats right

  • lol

  • I love Alan Watts and his message, and I also think the animation is cool!!!! Nice work jesslafleur ... Alan himself would definitely dig it!!!!!!! Yes, it's possible to speak for the deceased if you know them well. Alan was a real hipster, a groovy cat, a psychedelic psychonaut.

  • this is a good lecture. but the added music track and the facial animation seriously detract from Watts' words.

  • Brian Eno!!

  • 28 days music

  • I just scrolled down and listened to the audio. It's a good call...

  • I for one think the animation is cool...It's cool because it's not perfect, and there's some humor in it...I hope i'm getting the point across lol

  • Alan Watts changed my life. (27 y/o)

I've been an atheist all my life, and realized it when I was about 9. I was anti-authority at a very young age. Being this way, I was subject to the brute force of the authorities at home and school(I was never bad). When I was finally fed up of being beat down and outcast, I decided to give in. I became very popular and successful, but it was driven by anger. After the marines, addiction, PTSD, anxiety depr...

Alan Watts helped me rediscover happiness.

  • @jasonqlwilliams Same here. Same here.

  • the chinese believe change and flow are essential features of nature and that there are patterns in these changes to be observed by men and women. the sage recognizes these patterns and directs his actions according to them. don't interfere or hold on to fixed things, ideas, and beliefs. decay is inherent in all compounded things, strive on with diligence. this is a great video, "we have a strange anxiety in us that if we dont interfere, it wont happen." thats so true in so many ways, brilliant

  • Great videos! I personally enjoyed the animation, but equally it's nice to just shut your eyes and listen to Alan's wise words. I find Alan Watts very inspirational and have written a few songs inspired by his ideas, feel free to visit my channel to listen.

    Thanks for these videos!

  • I think that Alan Watts would applause this video because of the creativity as you should all do and pay more attention to what the man has to say, because this my friends is the voice of the highest power to me personaly.

  • i wish i knew how to let go

  • Spelling policeman pulls jeffbriggs1987 for failing to capitilise the intial letter of a sentence and ommitting a full stop, then he looks closely at jeffbriggs and he drops his ticket book and the pencil too and he pokes out his tongue and chuckles at his own behaviour and realising he is being facetious beyond the call of duty he looks at the sky and he says "My God, it's full of stars, . . . :)

  • It's like that story, when a centipede was asked how can she walk with so many legs? She said I don't know, I just do. Then she gave it a thought, started thinking how does she manage, she got so messed up she never walked again.

  • I personally am thankful that the maker of this video took the time to make the animation, though it's a bit creepy. That being said, it's still pretty neat.

The background music however not so much since it's louder than Alan.

  • If you don't like the animation, minimize the page and just listen to it. I think Alan Watts would be impressed by the advances in technology, as well as amused by the effects of its current limitations. Eventually these animations will be very lifelike and difficult to tell they are not actually films of the person talking.

  • @MagiMysteryTour So eventually the global elites will be able to rewrite history without having to buy off historians. They may finally suppress education 100%?

  • @deceiver123m Those who manufacture "history" and control "education" have been doing it for a very long time. Advanced technologies merely give them additional tools. The alleged tapes and videos of bin laden for years didn't even have to be very good forgeries for the majority of people to accept them as genuine. Welcome to 1984.

  • The first couple of times I watched this, the animation was off-putting, but the more I watched this clip, the more I liked it. It was done with great affection for the subject and it's speaker.

  • Uggh. THIS MUSIC IS ANNOYING!!!!

  • @pythongrip I disagree, a good soundtrack always draws me into this type of higher-level thinking

  • @SlugChristie Well, maybe a GOOD soundtrack would help. But the monologue really stands on its own.

Welp! It is just an opinion and I am sure glad that you like it and that it works for you.

  • this dude is a straight G

  • People, you can't let something as simple as an animation get you this frustrated

    Don't be silly

  • @MissLucyBoomer im going insane because of this animation, and im extremely upset .. i was going to know myself, but instead this animation destroyed me

  • @MissLucyBoomer

I ain't frustrated, I'm frightened beyond all comprehensible belief.

  • I can't take this rant seriously watching that recorded Garry-mode project, lol

    staring at the sky helps...

  • Please upload again with a still image, or slideshow.

The animation is very distracting and takes away from the message a great deal.

    Thank You.

  • Thnx a lot for uploading the talk. The animation thing wasn't necessary imo.

  • is the music boards of canada? sounds like some familiar ambient music...

  • @silatguy

    it's Brian Eno's ....An Ending

  • @phillintheuk1 thanks phill

  • alan watts is a genius but this little animation im not so fond of..STILL GONNA THUMBS UP THO!

  • There is nothing wrong with the animations! It brings it to life. IDC what others say I love it and I love this guy.

Peace love and truth to all!

  • I think it's fucking hilarious that his eyes keep bugging out. But I think some chillin pics would fit the mood better. Because I'm caught between trying to listen to and understand this awesome bit of advice, and laughing my ass off.

  • I find the animation quite interesting. Never saw anything like it.

  • please dont rocket fish alan ever again.

  • Creepy? Absolutely!!! Yet, strangely compelling. If it overwhelms you, read the comments or type a comment while the audio plays. Now, if the music was fucked up, which it isn't, (I would play Eno or Steve Roach who put all the spiritual fakers to shame) then there would be no reason for this clip to exist.

  • @CoffeePatron why would he be appalied i think your right he would get a laugh out of it

people shouldnt get so hype over small things

  • the animation is brilliant, whether or not you car for it. it's rude to disparage someone's work like that. respect, brother...

  • I too found the animation distracting, though not the music. This probably speaks to my reluctance or relative inability to tune out visual stimuli in preference to the message.

The fact that the user who posted this has let the criticism of the tertiary content stand tells me they really hear Watts' message.

Meticulous animation is an act of love and meditation. Animate likewise a picture of the bust of Socrates or of your favorite teacher or thinker. Is their message clearer to you?

  • It's interesting how people are reacting with different parts of the video and the message is left in the background. In fact the emotions that are being felt are just as interesting as the video itself. This is humanity arguing and offending itself. Don't feel offended. Don't argue about the music, or animations. Just feel the message.

  • @fkritter Totally agree. Just hear the message, people. I'm minimizing this & just listening to it while I work. I love listening to this man.

  • @fkritter I agree, but the video would be better wthout the animation and music.

  • @fkritter you are wise.

  • @fkritter Don't dictate, Just let it flow.

  • @SloppyManwich Hypocrite.

  • @fkritter Twat

  • @fkritter The animations are pretty distracting, it's kinda freaking me out.

  • NO MUSIC YOU FUCKER omg

    i can't believe that

  • @SwissHardstyle

just because you do not like the music you insult people? congratulations!

  • @nycballer4life

Nah, on the contrary, I like the music. But I was searching material for a song, where I can use the voice. Don't take it seriously ;-)

    Good video actually

  • Alan would find this funny. Don't miss the point. life is play. have fun in all you do even watching this video if its creepy than laugh at it and enjoy its delivery of the message. All are one, so you're really speaking to yourself, criticizing yourself, comforting yourself, whatever you do, so lighten up.. Peace and love to the many versions of the "I" (me).

  • Wow, this is creepy.

  • the music n stuff has to be there for legal purposes

  • This animation is distracting and the background music is really annoying

  • ahh oh god why have you done this

  • anyone know the name of the song used in the background of the video ? i completetly forgot...the song or album name had something to do with the moon...

  • Brilliant animation..thanks

  • I think it's wonderful and I think you did an incredible job. It's delightful and strange.

  • Returning to the earth with men like Alan watts is beautiful in itself.

  • I can't wait to return to the earth with men like Alan watts. Thus life has been such a beautiful thing.

  • This video is the bees knees. Thanks brah.

  • This background music really blows shit...what moron plays music in the bg when someone is giving a lecture?

  • This is just beautiful. We are just beautiful. I am just beautiful.

  • can anybody tell me what the background song is?????

  • so many people with no sense of humour. let go of your ego and just enjoy life for a change

  • what an amazing man :)

  • AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

  • disrespecting someone is disrespecting yourself.

Love the eternally real and be divine.

"Growth" is going through the lessons by which we see go through opposites which is the illusion of the greater whole and the subtle centre by which we should grasp to but many of us do not because of the knowledge we are given and believe in from our peers/ media/ education.

  • hey bro, nice upload. may i ask what software did you use for this? its awsome.

  • I DARE YOU TO WATCH THIS ON MAGIC MUSHROOMzzzzz

  • wow how can you hate on Alan Watts...ignore them into nothingness...lol. give it some space....to breath for the existence of their negativity is the existence of your positive enlightenment.

  • how did you do that to the picture?

  • Alan watts is an amazing guy! Wonderful choice of music as well.

  • HAHAHAHAHHAHAHH THATS FUNNY SHIT (the talkin picture)

  • everything in the universe is energy. God is simply positive energy or love! evil, Satan, killing another human being, hate etc = negative energy, wat elite believe. Jesus, even if just a story, lived love - put forth positive energy - which is why he was God in the flesh! The story should b remembered 4 all of us 2 put forth positive energy the way Jesus taught us. Constantine & the roman empire -the elite -all infiltrated / created religions, the bible & Quran. PAGAN.

    truthknowledge. Com

  • I dissagree, good and bad can be seen as purley perception. you must remember that satan was created by god, you cannot escape god it is in everything. you are god, i am god, all is god. and all i wrote is bull!@#T cos i do not know. its just my opinion.

  • Positive energy, negative energy and neutral energy are all part of the same whole. División is evil.

  • Nice video !!!

  • It really doesn't need the music or animation, I'd rather have a blank screen and just the audio of his voice. Someone really doesn't get it.

  • Well, since you're ignorant I guess I'll enlighten you. Mark Watts doesn't want people uploading blank screens with his father's work on it.

    He sells that stuff.

But he does however allow for artistic efforts that utilize his father's work. So, in an effort to SPREAD THE WORDS of Alan Watts, this is what I've done.

You're the one who didn't "get it" but if you had taken any time to research it you'd have known before embarrassing yourself.

  • @jesslafleur I couldn't give a toss what Mark Watts says. You think Alan would actually want his words to be diluted with this shit? Its nauseous and off-putting, and I'm afraid for you, most people agree with me.

  • Actually I don't think Alan Watts would have cared at all, stuff like this didn't bother him.

That said, my point is its either like this, or not at all. Take your pick. If you don't like it, how unfortunate, but it really doesn't matter because obviously you're taking this way too seriously. And if you understood Watts at all you'd realise what kind of mistake you're making.

You're still the one who doesn't get it.

  • @jesslafleur The animation I can take or leave, I can scroll down or whatever. However the music makes it sound like some kind of healing tape you'd buy at some rip-off middle-class spiritual fair. It cheapens it I'm afraid, and it doesn't need it.

  • I don't think you can cheapen something that costs you nothing.

Does it need it? No, but again, I felt it was necessary given the requirements to have uploaded this in the first place.

If you want to hear this so bad as it was recorded then you're more than welcome to purchase the tapes from Mark.

I get your point, honestly I do, but my point is merely that you get what you pay for, and I don't feel that complaining has served you or I any benefit given that I've done no new vids for years.

  • months rather, though it feels like years.

  • @bugglm its brian fucking eno you cretinous imbecile

  • @jesslafleur "Well, since you're ignorant I guess I'll enlighten you?." What a pompous thing to say? You fancy yourself some kind of enlightened artist wizard do you? You're an embarassment. But you're right about one thing, Alan Watts wouldn't give a crap about the crappy work you've done. You're about as artistic as a wet noodle. My apologies to the noodle.

  • You're hilarious. You've obviously taken what I've said some some degree of seriousness. That seriousness is much too ill placed. I never dared call myself an artist! That alone is an interesting accusation!

The phrase you quoted of me was meant to be a bit of fun at his expense. Your hilarious attempts at an insult based off your own miscomprehended interpretation amuses me too.

My point was that he was "ignorant" of the reason I had put these videos together. There was no real "pomp" intended

  • Comment removed

  • @jesslafleur You think humiliating another person is a "bit of fun"? You think that's OK? You think that's normal? That's sociopathic! But of course I'm just misinterpreting and miscomprehending you, right? Don't kid yourself, you're as pompous as they come. But the irony is, you have to live with yourself don't you.

  • You don't get it either. I didn't use the word "enlighten" in a spiritual context, it was because he failed to understand or even attempt to inquire as to why I put the videos up as they were. And still you're granting this with a far too heavy dose of seriousness, which is a failure to the utmost degree in my and Alan Watt's opinion. You're revealing yourself just as ignorant for misinterpreting what and why I said what I did. Congratulations for wasting even more of my time.

  • @jesslafleur Congratulations for wasting your own time I would say. I don't think your keyboard typed that involuntarily. You interfered with it.

  • @jesslafleur Stop it both of you, do you not see that you are both doing negatives. You are both devine no matter your actions. Please, your accusations only embed, they do not remove problems. If you think that by saying someone is wrong makes you right. Only you can wake up, stop trying to wake others up. I am pushing myself to type this. Language is a barrier, take what you may for you are God. I pick my words, you pick the meaning, now go out and play!

  • I've always respected Alan Watts. Read his books. Listened to his MEA recordings late at night in the 70s. But here I find he's become Max Headroom!

  • lol. i love the animation!

  • I just scrolled down and listenend. Very soothing.

  • I don't like animation - period! But, I appreciate that some people do and acknowledge the contrast that the uploader provides for those that do and don't - and don't and do!

Have to be honest - I discovered Alan Watts, via YouTube about 3 hrs ago and I'm enjoying the discovery and peoples uploadings of his work - in all their forms:-)

A new learner... journeying, learning and playing:-) Thanks

  • then look up gregg braden and bruce lypton they will blow your mind.

    Happines to you

    Namaste

  • Thanks boomerskr3w:-)

I've watched a couple videos of Gregg Braden and he is mindblowing, plus really enjoyable and easy to listen to and explains easily his teachings without jargon and too much scientific-speak:-)

I'd vaguely heard of Bruce Lypton and now you've gave me a Universal Nudge, I shall go and find him too :-)

    Namaste fellow Be-ing:-)

    Seth

  • thank you very much.

  • alan would love this video .. the fact that people are watching would bring joy to his spirit..

    cheers 2 all..

  • reminds me of sealab

  • play the game existence to the end of the beginning of the beginning of the beginning

  • Fucking terrifying

  • I think that Mr. Watts would be appalled at this creepy (in Zappa-speak)) animation. It's extremely distracting - try some still photos. Peace, Brother...

  • @skydoglp1 agreed, but it is only a animation. Also, the last thing the dead would worry about would be a youtube video brotha.

  • Part 3?

  • everyone has a mind and choices its you who makes you who you are directly and indirectly you contribute to the whole universe

people need to move forward be one with the universe thats how it works theres no stopping it

it just keeps going so embrace it

if you cant beat it join it

  • I can hear now!

  • Why do you think it is necessary to animate a picture of Alan Watts? It is unnecessary, and a simple picture would have worked.

  • Eno and Watts...whoever posted this, we'd get along. Very Cool. What track is this?....If anyone wants another good Eno tune, "Drift" is great for late-night walking. It's the soundtrack to the universe, I swear. haha

  • An Ending (Ascent)

  • killing the animal or smashing the rock is just as sacred, in your reasoning, as giving birth or making love, all things being equal

  • freaking geniuses Eno and Watts!!!

  • I am man. I am one man and I am all man. I am God and the Universe as are you, as is the tree outside your window, as is your neighbor's dog who won't shut the fuck up, as is the bird and her baby chicks nesting in the forementioned tree.

  • 'Alan, you never really left us.' jesslafleur, that is a wonderful statement.

  • All this shit makes sense but i still think its a little kookoo

  • Of course it's kookoo. It's complete kookoo. So is Buddhism. I'm a Zen Buddhist, and you won't find anyone more kookoo than me.

  • ahh i see. Yes, you are right. When it comes down to it there is neither bad nor good, simply an experience that is determined by human beings to be either favorable or unfavorable. I do not accept the idea of a spiritual "good vs. evil" war that is raging throughout the Universe.

  • However, the entire Universe itself could be considered a place of many different games. In the broadest sense, the only non-game is "Being vs. Non-being"

  • This is a game of causes and effects. If you kill others, then there will be repercussions (either psychologically, physical, or otherwise). I wouldn't kill another because I would always have that memory of killing for the rest of my life. Most people choose to be good (or somewhere between good and evil) in the game of life.

  • mainly because I am not a sociopath but also because killing people . Also because killing people would probably, in the concept of this construct, be against the "rules" of the game.

What does treating life as a game, work as a game, everything as an enjoyable game, have to do with morality in any case? Why don't you kill people now?

  • treating it like a game means having fun with it and not getting too bent out of shape when things don't work out your way. Breathing and going with the flow. A different perspective.

  • I disagree, i have noticed in many things, that the less i think about them, the easier they are and the better I do at them. Especially when things are treated like a game.

  • thumbs up

  • i think it may have been chopra that said it can take 3 minutes or 30 years...

  • This is also the basic key to meditation- once you lose the idea that you're meditating because you ought to be doing it, then you really begin to meditate... sounds simple, but it can take years...

  • My TEACHER! thank you!!

  • It's driving me nuts, what is the music playing in the background? I know I recognize it from somewhere... But WHERE...?

  • Brian Eno - An Ending (Ascent)

Anyone who tells you differently is mistaken.

  • I think the "Sunshine" movie sound track has it

  • YES! very cool vid :)

  • great stuff thx for the upload its very appreciated
