I just got done watching the 9 videos of "2 weeks in Hell" for the green beret. This looks tough but man the green beret training makes this look like a walk in the park!!!

Ranger School has toned down a bit since this video. During the Water Phase, the Ranger Candidates can now where life vests when they climb up the balancing beam and go down the slide for life. They can also run with sneakers instead of boots now. Other than that, it's still very difficult.
I don't understand why the US Army feels the need to have so many different Special Forces organizations. Surely 2 or 3 would be enough. Can anyone explain?

@LeoTheLion00 It's not as easy as they make it sound. Transferring services is very complicated, and puts you at risk for hazing. Being a Marine won't necessarily prepare you, if you can't make it in the Marines, you won't make it as a Ranger.

@SuperKaratemaster Completely different job description altogether. Different training, different set of skills. The green berets are SF, special forces. Unconventional warfare, long beards and 1911's, you name it.
Anyone know for sure if rapper/actor Ice-T was an actual Ranger when he was in the Army? Or if he tried Ranger's school but couldn't complete the training? I've heard different stories about that. He was in the Army for sure for four years, that part is easily verifiable, it's the Ranger part that's iffy.
So when a Ranger got captured, the instructors would put them through a mock interrogation/torture session. First they stripped the man naked, rubbed tar on his pubes, then lowered him into a hole in the ground that was full of rattlesnakes. The snakes had been defanged, but they didn't know this. They would tell the Rangers "you think this is rough? Wait till the VC or NVA capture you in Vietnam."
This was late 60's when the rules were probably more relaxed. Nowadays I doubt it would fly.
My dad was in the 1st Cav Airmobile in Vietnam ('66-'67). After he got out of Vietnam, he still had time left so they sent him and some other vets to Ranger school as "aggressors." That is, they would act as the enemy for the Rangers. This was in Fort Walton, FL, I think.
Ranger school is by far the most intense school in the US military!! And sorry but BUD/S is just a lot of physical fitness! This is hell within a hell within another deeper hell!!!!! Although Sith warrior is still probably the most brutal!!!
But how to Instructors manage to to this course day after day or after another batch and still continue? Or they do shifting or rotation? Or they can really do this daily because their body got used to it already.
I'm sorry but they are. The reason why they are is that rm have a 32 basic training and then they can specialise which is a further 9 week course. That's 41 weeks of training before they go into active service. I don't know about us army but in gb services if you are not on tour or leave you will be training with your unit constantly.

Anyone know for sure if rapper/actor Ice-T was an actual Ranger when he was in the Army? Or if he tried Ranger's school but couldn't complete the training? I've heard different stories about that. He was in the Army for sure for four years, that part is easily verifiable, it's the Ranger part that's iffy.

So when a Ranger got captured, the instructors would put them through a mock interrogation/torture session. First they stripped the man naked, rubbed tar on his pubes, then lowered him into a hole in the ground that was full of rattlesnakes. The snakes had been defanged, but they didn't know this. They would tell the Rangers "you think this is rough? Wait till the VC or NVA capture you in Vietnam."
This was late 60's when the rules were probably more relaxed. Nowadays I doubt it would fly.

My dad was in the 1st Cav Airmobile in Vietnam ('66-'67). After he got out of Vietnam, he still had time left so they sent him and some other vets to Ranger school as "aggressors." That is, they would act as the enemy for the Rangers. This was in Fort Walton, FL, I think.

I'm sorry but they are. The reason why they are is that rm have a 32 basic training and then they can specialise which is a further 9 week course. That's 41 weeks of training before they go into active service. I don't know about us army but in gb services if you are not on tour or leave you will be training with your unit constantly.

I grew up all over the world and never went with out. 32 on my ACT, graduated highschool with a 4.0 and enlisted in the USMC. Some people join because of some macho mentality but they do their four years a leave. I went straight through ranger school with ease. That fagget marine wasnt the only person to go through ranger school. You dont have a tab so shut the fuck up.
