Dear Born Again Pagan Celts of the Nomadic Free World, lets celebrate (((March 17th and the 18th))) as (((Celtic Pagan Liberation Day))). On March 17th and on 18th wear all Green if you are Proud to be a Born Again Pagan Celt. Sincerely in the remembrance of The Hill of Tara's Royal Druid Government.
This is just so bad!!!! But good on him for having the balls to go public with it! Still not as bad as Tom Cruise and he gets paid shed loads to be bad.
@irishfella1987 No they weren't, the Irish took to them with the 19th century re-invention of Irish culture, the Irish played flutes and wore long Yellow shirts with Brats and Lieanne, then Saffron coloured attire in the 18th century.
@irishfella1987 You should add, that the "Irish Warpipes" are a modern construct, as there are no original or ancient examples in existence, unlike Scottish pipes.
"Essentially it is based on the 19th century Scottish "GHB". The "Gaelic Revival" Bagpipe has the LOOK of Pipe illustrations from the late Middle Ages.
This Configuration was developed during the "Gaelic Revival" ( approx.1890 -1914 ). The Gaelic Athletic Association (G.A.A) revived Hurling, Gaelic Football, etc. Pipe Bands were.
That's true. Though technically, bagpipes originated in the Middle East. The Scots just perfected them. ;-) And to the best of my knowledge, the Irish also use bagpipes and kilts, just not the degree that the Scots are famous for. Thanks for watching!
@leonaprime01 The instruments you're talking about are completely different looking and sounding from the Scottish Pipes, the very sound of the pipes are Scottish and nothing else in the world at any time in history sounded like it, the sound is what makes it Scottish.
That hat is a Scottish Tam O' Shanter, and it's supposed to be bigger than that also.
You Yanks should really stop copying Scottish stuff and uploading it and re-branding it as Irish, it's partly why folk see the Yanks as dumb.
Also, you would be in good company. The attempts to fashion a distinctively, "Irish" version of the Scottish bagpipe, have not proven popular with the people who really matter, the pipers themselves, over here! So invariably, they have gone back to using the Scottish GHB, probably because those are the most evolved, and frankly nothing else sounds like them!
Attempts to make an Irish version, "reverse evolved" from the Scots GHB, were stupidly political.
@gingerrfc1 well, the kilt has been used all over the brittisg isles, but the scotts are the ones who have been using it the most the last 100-200 years. Even the english king uses a kilt sometimes, I do believe.
