  • Just curious, where exactly can I find the canned chicken in the grocery store? Would it be where the canned tuna is? I don't cook or grocery shop often, so I wanted to have an idea before I go. The recipe seems delicious and easy enough for me to follow. Thank you.

  • I have a question don't know if u have heard of it but would creole mayo be good in chicken salad for sandwiches

  • @brittneydargusch21 I think it would taste great! I haven't actually tried it, but I have used chipotle mayo in chicken salad, and the hot flavor is really good!

    --Betty :)

  • I just made this chicken salad....soooo yummy!!! Thanks for a great recipe! In place of the canned chicken, I used two boneless skinless chx. breasts boiled in water and oregano, then cooled and diced. Also, I used Miracle whip in place of the mayo. Your recipe is phenomenal!

  • @MsMahoganyQueen Thanks for your great feedback! I love your substitution of chicken breasts in water and oregano!

    --Betty :)

  • I'm cooking this tonight! Thank you!!!

  • @jaymeal123 I hope you enjoy it! Thanks for commenting!

    --Betty :)

  • As promised, went out to get what I needed to make this. It was just really good, the grapes brought a lot of flavor to it. Only substitution I made was the pecans. I used walnuts. (I like them better =D )

  • @Nytewhisper13 I am delighted that you liked the chicken salad. Walnuts sound great!

    --Betty :)

  • I've never seen grapes used in chicken salad, but I can see how that can add flavor, I think I'll go out tomorrow and get everything I need to make this. I'm a terrible cook, but this seems like an easy, tasty dish. Thanks!

  • @Nytewhisper13 It is easy. We had it in a restaurant and loved it! I hope you enjoy it! Thanks for commenting!

    --Betty :)

  • @Nytewhisper13 theyre awesome. i became obsessed with having some kind of fruit (prefereably not too strong like pineapple or something) in chicken salad ever since i had starbucks chicken salad sandwiches. theirs has cranberries. that one bit of sweetness makes it DELICIOUS!!!

  • i just did this recipe and it was good but i didnt put the celery in it..(i hate celery) and instead of pecans i use chopped almonds left over from my Chinese chicken salad...thanks betty

  • @dnbseg Thanks for your great feedback! You made some good substitutions--they sound great!

    --Betty :)

  • @47462vladi I love that idea! Thanks!

    --Betty :)

  • Betty! This is a wonderful Recipe! I like how you added grapes inside. I think I'm gonna try this soon. Chicken Salad at the grocery store is expensive. I hope this will cut down the cost. since it is one of my favorite foods!

    --Betty :)

  • @TheLawOfParsimony I hope you enjoy it!

    --Betty :)

  • Betty, do you think that Miracle Whip dressing would be ok to use instead of mayonesse? or would it be too sweet?

  • @stellaluna4u2 In this recipe, Miracle Whip would be perfect!

    --Betty :)

  • Im interested to know how muhc canned chicken is in the states. As here in UK they only sell one brand and its horribly expensive!!!xx

  • @dayamsta You can easily find canned chicken in grocery stores in the U.S. It comes in various brands.

    --Betty :)

  • That looks yummy!! but I don't really like grapes in chicken salad could I not use any fruit??

  • @carebears400 Yes, you may omit the fruit; some people like crushed pineapple in place of the grapes, but you do not need any type of fruit for this to taste great!

    --Betty :)

  • I sent this to my mother cause she wanted new ideas. Great tutorial! thanks a ton!

  • @TwentyTwelveee You are very welcome!

    --Betty :)

  • Also, can i substitute greek yogurt instead of the mayo? any suggestions

  • @mmkay0440 Yes, yogurt in place of the mayo will be wonderful!

    --Betty :)

  • What a great tutorial! Thanks Betty. I am a college student and that looks so simple :). Will definitely be making some tonight. Thanks for keeping it low fat.

  • Hi Betty, can I use walnuts instead of pecans? I'll have to use green grapes instead of red because I just bought a bag of it recently. This recipe looks delicious. Thank you.

  • @Chelle2u Walnuts and green grapes are both wonderful for this recipe.

    --Betty :)

  • Hi Betty, I have not tried this recipe. I do however, agree with the title of this recipe. Betty's elegant!!! My first recipe I tried of yours was your turkey for Thanksgiving last year. Best turkey we have ever had!!! I love your elegant style that you deliver in every recipe!!! Thank you ma'am!!!

  • Hi Betty, Unless it's the butter flavor you are wanting when toasting the bread, you can also use a thin layer of the same Mayo Free on the bread. It works just like the butter but obviously reduces calories, etc. I do that with lots of my sandwiches. :-) Thanks for the videos, you are awesome and I've picked up several good recipes that I want to try. Keep up the good work!!

  • Awesome! Yum!

  • I'm loving it.

  • Hey Betty, Could you possibly make fruitcake? I've been wondering how to make one haha....

  • @KHLover1234 I do have a fruitcake in bettyskitchen that I made for Christmas. Just search for fruitcake in bettyskitchen.

    --Betty :)

  • that looks like a good sandwich..

  • Hey Betty,

I would like to thank you for taking time in teaching us this survival technique. In your case, cooking. I appreciate your efforts, ma'am. As a full time student, living away from home and family, I look forward to your ideas, tips, that help me in making some quick homemade delicacies. I am sick of eating outside and those fast food restaurants don't appeal me anymore.

I am very grateful to you for your videos. I have tried your recipes and all I have to say is... I LOVE YOU!

  • @Desi4evah Thanks for your sweet comment! I am happy that you are finding some recipes that you enjoy! Thanks for watching!

    --Betty :)

  • I make this using a bit of low-fat, unflavored yogurt with the mayo (50/50). You get a nice crunch with water chestnuts, diced granny smith apples, red grapes, and then a bit of sweet with dark raisins. They serve this delicious chicken salad at First Watch restaurants...great stuff!

  • @CaledoniaJeanne That sounds great! Thanks for the wonderful tip!

    --Betty :)

  • Betty, you make those sandwiches , so tasty and easy to make..

dang..im going too try each snandwish you demo, each day of the week.

ty. are you a chef or a cert. cook..??

  • @wildshotsintheair Hi! Thanks for your lovely comment! No, I'm not a chef; however, I have been collecting, creating, and cooking recipes since I was about 12--so I have almost 50 years of experience (in mainly Southern cooking).

    --Betty :)

  • Betty I love you. But I love your kitchen more...

  • Betty....I love you! You are great. I have tried several of your dishes and they are great. Keep up the good work. Keep posting.

  • i dont know about canned chicken ;< )

  • @bradshaweric Canned chicken was just a suggestion. Of course, if you have leftover chicken, that's great! And, on any of my recipes, you can make ingredients from scratch, if having them quick and easy is not an issue. You can just grill some chicken before your assemble the salad, and you will be satisfied with it.

    --Betty :)

  • THIS LOOKS AMAZING. I CANT WAIT TO MAKE THIS. I HAVE WATCHED MANY VERSIONS, BUT YOURS IS THE BEST!!

  • @try2thyself Thanks for your lovely comment! I appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • I love to add slices of dill pickle to a chicken salad sandwich

  • @mandel233 I think dill pickles complement chicken salad and chicken sandwiches perfectly! Great tip!

    --Betty :)

    --Betty :)

  • ive had apples in chicken salad before but never grapes, cant wait to try this recipe!

  • @toriii987 If you like apples in chicken salad, I think you will really like grapes--and they are very convenient to prepare. Thanks for your lovely comment!

    --Betty :)

  • ur a really great host! actually i admit it looks tasty im not use to fruits with chiken, but this is convincing :) ill try it!!

  • I hope you really do try this. It is not uncommon around here for people to use pineapple or grapes in chicken salad, and it does taste very good! Thanks for your nice comment!

    --Betty :)

  • I want to make your recipe for a shower I'm hosting. How many sandwiches do you get from this recipe?

  • I think you would get 6 to 8 croissants worth from one recipe (depending on the size of croissant and how much you spread on them). Just multiply the recipe by 2 or 3 or whatever factor you need to make the number of sandwiches desired. Good luck with your shower! This is a nice food choice for it.

    --Betty :)

  • i grill some chicken breasts, dice it into nice pieces, add celery, grapes, and gala apples and toasted pecans to make my chicken salad and serve it on toasted honey wheatberry bread with butter lettuce its yummy

  • I like all of those ingredients! I will try it your way next time! Sounds very yummy! Thanks for the great tip!

    --Betty :)

  • YOU GO GIRL!

    --Betty :)

  • this reminded me of the napa almond chicken salad sandwich i had the other day at Panera's.. i just made this for lunch later but i tried it... AWESOME!! taste much better with the croissant.. thank you so much! ur simply the best! =)

  • Thanks for your wonderful comment! I really enjoy cooking for people like you!

    --Betty :)

  • hmm lovely recipe .

Ever made like something chinese? japanese? asian maybe? like chinese steamed dumplings or japanese cuisine?

  • Hi!

I have a few Asian-style dishes in bettyskitchen, but it's not my specialty! I will be trying some new things after the beginning of the new year! Thanks for your comment!

    --Betty :)

  • That's incredible! It definitely looks like a upscale restaurant recipe. I'll watching more of your recipes. Keep up the good work of sharing your ideas. Cheers.

  • Thanks! I love to go to nice restaurants and figure out the ingredients in a dish--or sometimes I will just ask! Thanks for you lovely comment!

    --Betty :)

  • Great video, Betty! I was searching youtube for a chicken salad recipe and came across your page. I look forward to checking out your other dishes.

  • Thank you! I hope you enjoy the chicken salad--and also more of my recipes!

    --Betty :)

  • hi once again, you really do explain things well. your three bean salad was great ty ~ n this one look like a great recipe too. Just wondering do you have a "Chicken Caesar salad mix for sandwich too ?__

  • Hi Laura,

I don't, but that's something I can work on. Thanks for your lovely comment, and thanks for viewing my channel!

    --Betty :)

  • This looks so delicious - I'm definately going to try this out but as I'm trying to watch the calories, then I think I will try it on wholemeal and also perhaps served as a salad on it's own. Thank you so much for sharing it!

  • Thanks! Your changes sound wonderful! I'm all for changing up recipes to meet your needs! I typically use whole grain bread for myself also, but need to change things up a bit to keep recipes interesting--you know you can always substitute in my recipes!!!

    --Betty :)

  • Wow! The sandwich looks wonderful. By the way, do you own every dish pattern Corelle makes...lol...your vidoes show a different pattern all the time.

  • You would think I was the Corelle Queen! Sometimes I am so rushed that I grab whatever will fit--so you will see a lot of different things--and a lot of the same thing!!! Thanks for your lovely comment!

    --Betty :)

  • This sandwich looks good, but it I think it would also be great if you replace the grapes with dried cranberries.

  • That sounds great to me, too! I hope everyone notices your suggestion!

    --Betty :)

  • how can chicken from a can be fresh?

  • I guess I used that phrase in the video--I would have meant from a freshly opened can of chicken. Obviously, its cooked!

    --Betty :)

  • love this! however if i wanted to use chicken breasts instead of canned chicken, how would you suggest to do it?

  • Either you will be buying cooked chicken or cooking it yourself. If you buy it in a supermarket, you can get it from the deli, cut into thick slices, which you can cut into cubes. Or, you can buy rotisserie chicken, and just pull the chicken from the bones. If you are starting with uncooked chicken breasts, just pan fry them in some oil or butter, until they are white when you cut into the middle. Then chunk them up and add them to the salad--this way is great! Thanks for asking!

    --Betty :)

  • the salad wont have a big difference if i dont use the pecanst right?

  • No--you may leave out the pecans--It will still taste great! Thanks for your question!

    --Betty :)

  • I am looking for a publisher for a "video cookbook." Does anyone out there have any ideas of how to go about getting such a publisher for a new genre?

    --Betty :)

  • What's it taste like :o

    Flavor-wise hehe

  • Imagine chunks of chicken with some mayo, flavored with celery, grapes, and pecans. It's really a good combination. Thanks for your question!

    --Betty :)

  • wow thatz wonderful your super talented i wonder how many recipes you have? i have never head some of your recipes im gonna try this out but i got a question. I only have the canned tuna that is what your supposed to use rit?

  • For this sandwich, it is canned chicken. You can use any kind of cooked chicken. Thanks for your compliments! I have no idea how many recipes I "have." I keep making them up, also! Thanks for your question!

    --Betty :)

  • What a great idea using the fat free mayo. Though i love regular mayo I been using fat free re-fried beans as a substitute, but I'll definitely get the fat free for this recipe.

  • What I have been doing for many years is to substitute fat-free and sugar-free, whenever it doesn't affect the outcome of the recipe. (Which doesn't mean that I can't have a super-sweet fatty dessert occasionally!) I think the overall lifestyle philosophy of eating a lot of fruits/vegetables and cutting out calories every chance I get works well for me and my family. We never feel deprived, but doing this consistently really does add up to saving a lot of calories and unhealthy fat!

    --Betty :)

  • Just made it. DELICIOUS. :-)

  • That's *great*! Thank you for all of your feedback!

    --Betty :)

  • Looks like a wonderful salad Betty perfect for summer here in Tx. Never thought of using canned chicken or sealing my bread am learning a lot from you . Hope this fall you will do some soups. *hint hint*

  • Yes, I am going to try to do some summery things this summer, and then some appropriate fall things. I'm glad you are picking up some ideas you can use! Thanks for commenting!

    --Betty :)

  • Looks very tasty. I may run over the shops and buy all the ingredients for this. Hopefully they have canned chicken here in England. I have never seen it before. :-)

  • Yeah they do :)

  • I'm glad to hear that! Thanks for the information!

    --Betty :)

  • Just looked everywhere and couldn't find it. :-(

Not to worry, I still have some chicken breast in the fridge that I can use. :-)

  • I used canned chicken, because it's so convenient. In our supermarkets, you can buy rotisserie chicken in the deli section, and then remove it from the bones, and chunk it. Or, get a thick slice of chicken and cut it into cubes. Thanks for your comment!
