  • @charliepioneer Bitch-slap yourself right now! SS is a Chevy thing, never to be used on a Dodge. SRT is already the Chrysler equivalent of the SS, but for something like you're talking about, namely a competitor to the Camaro ZL1, we'd need something like a Challenger SRT8 ACR. The past ACR models from Chrysler (the Viper and Neon both come to mind) have positively dominated the competition, and reserved only enough courtesy to allow everyone else to fight for second place.

  • Two awesome cars, they are YES. Saw on TV Discovery how they build a Challenger. 1st class job! I was impressed. Engine built in Mexico = also 1st class factory. Engine --> Canada and put together there. There is no chance to get a Monday ex.if you buy a Challenger. And I'm sure its the same with the Mustang. Go America Go!!! Wrrooom the muscle cars are back on the highway!

  • @n1u2t3z4 ill take the 5.0 GT with the manual trans, 3.55 gears interrior upgrade and the brembo brake kit. 40grand leaving me with 10 for mods. (vortech blower? tune suspension drop and beefed up control arms.) what import are you getting (new)? an STI or evo i suppose? there good cars but they offer no theatre for me.  And for a 2.5 they offer very poor epa ratings. The mustang matches the M3 for performance and stock vs stock ill take the mustang over the STI.. (canadian prices)

  • I am totally Mopar and that is what I drive, but with the 5K difference in price, you can easily put the SRT 8 in its place with some motor work/mods. SRT 8 though can't be beat for looks, the Challenger is just nothing but BADASS hands down, no matter what motor is in it!

  • I have a 2011 challenger rt automatic, same car. I got the 0-60 timer on evic, and did it in 4.82 seconds, stock. Whoever said 0-60 in 5.7 seconds doesnt know how to drive.

    But then at the same time, once in a while the car has some "dead spots" where I hit the accelerator expecting power and it isnt there..... Why?

  • @TheJellybean1988 poor computer timing. Get an aftermarket tuner. Youl see better throttle response, better shift points, and better fuel economy. Youl also probabally unlock a little horsepower and definitely some torque. BEST MOD YOU CAN MAKE FOR YOUR MONEY. oh and if anything goes wrong. Just reinstall your original tuning and get the warranty work done.

  • Its not just the car, its the driver too. A good driver in the Mustang could run away from an SRT8 in the real world, if not on the track.

    Here's the problem for both cars - $4 gas. Plus, police have their own Chargers and Challegers too. No more boaty Catalinas and Furys.

  • @SuperWhoopass This was in 2008. The 2009 and 2010 had a 6 spd manual as an option, and it is standard on the 2011 with the auto as an option.

  • @a5kylar ZR1=better grip, better brakes, better acceleration. ZR1=better car. Handling isn't quite on par with the GT-R, so I'll give "Godzilla" that much. It's got that awd advantage, but the ZR1 has smoked it before and will smoke it again.

  • @acdcgreat But imagine if you took the power advantage away from the ZR1 and the GTR made the same numbers at the wheel, sadly the ZR1 lose, Its a great car on paper and on a little boys bedroom wall, but the ZR1 just isn't usable everyday. the GTR was designed with all weather driving in mind, do you think a ZR1 owner would drive it in the snow? Hell no to afraid of crashing b/c it cant handle anything but dry pavement.

  • well I own a 2007 supercharged Gt Mustang and a 2010 challenger RT, I think this comparrison is a little off, they should have compared the mustang GT500 to the Challenger srt8 because then it would have put the 2 companies top line cars against each other, or they should have compared the RT challenger and the GT mustang bullitt

    Just my opinion. It wouldnt have gone horribly wrong for the GT500 !!!

    like I said though I love em all, nothing like american muscle!

  • The Mustang HP numbers range from Motor trends 412 hp to other test of almost 420. All dyno's do not tread the same. They can differ 30+hp. just throwing that out for ppl that don't know.

Then you ask, why not supercharge the bigger engine then? Well as the engine becomes more powerful, the rest of the car must follow such as heat dissipation, suspension, fuel consumption, gear box. There is a reason trucks have have a high engine displacement and muscle cars are going for that exact same thing. If you want more, do some modifications.

    Im not saying they are slow. But what do those cars weigh anyways? I'm guessing less then 2500lbs? Besides, the Jap versions were faster. You said you had a gen 3. They are slower then gen 2 and they are quite girly looking. I'd say if I ever were to buy one it would be a gen 2... but i would never buy one. I like big comfortable cars with v8 power. Not a little go cart with a turbo that will die over the years.

  • @dobadriver Sir, the MKII MR2 Turbo that was produced in the USA from 91-95 is the CHassis I am referring to. The Gen 3 Motor is The 3sgte as is in the MKII, which in the USA normally comes the tuned down version of the Gen 2 motor. Not Gen 3 MR2 which would be called the MKIII, which only has 140hp using the 1ZZ motor. Does that clear up the confusion? Because in the USA, only gen 1 and gen 2 3sgte here. Japan, gen 1, gen 2, and gen 3 3sgte available. Gen 4 3sgte only in Calinda GT-Four.

Toyotas are by far the most diehard cars known to man. American cars are fast, very powerful, and people pay a lot for restored ones. But how many sit dusty in people's garages and driveways? How many 66' mustangs you see with 300k miles and still being driven? Compared to our sporty Japanese cars? Yeah, thanks.

    Really? How many 70's and 80's jap cars do I see around here? None really, if I do they are rusted to shit. I had a 1978 Chrysler with a 360. The engine still ran and the only problem i had with the car was when someone t boned me and I had to get rid of it 2 years ago. My bro had a 1966 Chrysler 300 with a 383, and if you knew what you were talking about you'd know they ran on leaded gas( so would a 66 mustang). It's amazing that the car ran great until 2002 with the wrong gas.

  • @dobadriver Ok, so you take your engine, get inducted hardened valve seats for your "Leaded" gasoline engines... What's so hard about that? They are "Classics" right? To be quite fair, you rarely see older model Japanese cars because not many were being bought in the USA during their early age. You have to remember a lot of Americans had fathers who fought in WWII and would boycott them. Also, I see more Datsun/Nissan 240z out there (car for it's time) than anything else, still running.

  • @dobadriver Oh and after you have the valve seats hardened induced with the exhaust valve seats, you run 89 octane. That should keep it going.... I took an Engine overhaul Class dealing with mostly domestic engines.

    Um, most people never bothered to do that and I'm not 50, I'm 23. By the time I drove these cars it would be too late anyways.. i would have been better off rebuilding the engine. There were lots of Japanese cars sold here in Canada, but here most have rusted to nothing by the time they were 10 yrs old.
