  • the guy who stole yours shot the commercial black gloves jerking open your door and talking in an evil voice. LOL

  • I had red TR7 back in1981 then i got married ! nuff said

  • @turksmikey -

    only possible answer:

If it has tits or wheels, it will give you problems

  • @walkmichael AYE AND BOTH COST A FORTUNE FOR THE JUICE

  • @walkmichael True.

  • the engine on the 1975-1981 TVR TR7

    Engine

    1,998 cc (2.0 l) I4

  • ...got a '81 TR8, same wedge with more power....sitting in the garage way too long now....7200 miles on it...interior perfect including original top....clutch went bad, wheels locked and tough maneuver out the gate of the garage. I am determined to do it. Cleaned up, this is as nice a wedge (all original) that you'll find, other than mint ones in some museum. I have lots of great spare parts back in teh days from when i used to be a junk yard dog. Anybody need anything? I'm in LA, CA

  • i"d like to get one but the reability my god,the reability.............

  • Yeah. Drive it into a black tralier with a Swastika on the back. Great marketing!

  • @NewChannels WHat are you talking about?? It's the BL Roundel.... thick cunt!

  • Fun motors, I had a 81 convertible for 15 years, we toured Europe several times, rear wheel drift on bends was magic fun, not like euro boxes today. Only car I know for 6'3 people you can stretch your legs out in. Easy to fix, juts nuts and bolts to do up, no ECUS etc, no wonder they were voted Classic & Sportscar all time favourite car (much to the annoynance of the publisher no doubt!)

  • I actually like the design and they say that BL did actually get themselves together when they closed down the Liverpool plant and moved production to Coventry. The Coventry TR7s had better engines, were built better and the convertible versions looked good.

  • British leyland had so many troubles in it's lifetime......

workforce problems, reliability problems, managing problems......

Specially with the trade union which in my opinion was the main trouble...

ENGINEERS WERE ON STRIKE THAT'S WHY CARS LIKE THIS ONE, THE AUSTIN METRO, THE AUSTIN PRINCESS, ETC SURFACED

  • @arospeed169 Were you even born?

  • @QuickProfits yes, i were

  • @arospeed169 in your profile page it says you are 23

  • I did not or would not pay 30k for a tr7 but some a/h here reckons they do make 30k ,I wonder what gogo juice he is on cause id like some.and I still drive a very clean and reliable white 1976 fhc tr7.

  • I own a 76 tr7 sprint never a problem with it ,its my second tr7 as i had one back in the day 1977 a red fhc that 1 drove every day for 13 years. If you take care of any car it will take care of you but I would never think of paying 30k for one

  • the TR7 was the first factory car to have radial tyres and impact absorbing bumpers, it was ahead of its time, good ones these days regularly change hands for £30k+

  • @marshalllucky £30k+ ??? Where the hell in the world would you pay £30k for a TR7?

  • @xxTornadowarrior1xx I guess it could be in some markets, but seriously they really did have air bags.

  • @Styve100 Britain didn't have Health & Safety until the 1990's. Prior to that an air bag was attached to a set of pipes and made a god awful wailing sound when in the posession of a Scott.

  • ive sat in one of those and the seat is desperatley low and very very hard

  • I've just sold my TR7. It had the 16v Sprint engine and never gave me any trouble at all.

  • @davemckiernan bet you dont miss the eyesore

  • @paulhunter123 I don't miss the rust and the Marina drivetrain!

  • did you notice the chunky steering wheel boss, they had to have air bags fitted even back then, the old brits, well, we didnt want those namby pamby things, lets see how many more people get seriously injured first...

  • Nice commercial!

  • LOL A truck with a huge swastika on the back swallows an English sportscar... They weren't serious, were they? I love the scene when it overtakes the US cars in the city.

  • are you daft? The "swastika" was the British Leyland logo from the seventies!!!

  • Oops, finally identified it after watching it a couple of times...

  • I had one of these in high school (used of course); it was my first car.

It was surreal, how that car turned heads among my classmates. But it was "all looks and no guts." Just recently, my dad confided/confessed something to me.

When I was 16 y/o, my parents borrowed it a couple times to go to a dancing club they belonged to. Apparently my dad accepted a challenge (by an owner of a 1980 Honda Civic) to a race.

My dad (driving the TR7) lost. He didn't have the heart to tell me at the time...

  • Great story :-) However, the Honda today has gone into rust. The Triumph as well. But with dignity.

  • A tr9?why not.but i fear the name triumph would not sound like reability and make great remembers to the consummers.refering to mini and fiat 500,an eventual revival fashion success could be based upon a glorious car.neverthless,i am seeking a yellow inca lhd-i live on french riviera- tr7 coupé 5 speed with plastic rims and tartan tim interior.send me a mail through you tube channel!french kisses...to the misses!

  • why would bmw make a tr9 ?

  • there were a few about when i was a kid,i remember thinking wow i want one of them!

  • I wish BMW would make a new TR9. I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

  • TR7s were all that was wrong with British carmaking--terrible electrics (Lucas--the prince of darkness)--low quality British steel (rust)--zero dealer support in the States, and totally outperfomed by japanese economy cars (Datsun B210, Toyota, Honda civic) and even a Karmann Ghia. American big 3 are currently following suit on a grander scale.

  • I think the TR7 is finally actually looking pretty dam cool. Has it taken this long to look good?

  • Goes like a bullit - occasionally under its own power but mostly on the back of a recovery truck!!

  • Saaweeeet! I restored and drove a 1976 TR7 in high school. I will soon be graduating from college and it is second on my list of projects.(needs some TLC) Only second to my 71 MGB!
