@gorginian He recorded lots of different guitar parts (or ostinati) and gradually layering them over each other. These then gradually change over time, and they create lots of cross rhythms and diatonic harmonies.

@oriasdiz to edxcell (an exam board) the peice was only written for electric and bass guitars :S sure it sounds better with acoustic guitars but origanaly it was scored for electric - also whats the instrument with no head at 0:43??

@Killerzac no....if you buy the original edition by Boosey & Hawkes you will see that Reich indicates electric or acousitc guitar & bass guitars, to play with tape or Ensemble.

The original recording did by Pat Metheny includes in the last movement some acoustic guitars.....but he also could do it all electric...it's just the aesthetic choice you can do....I did mine:only acoustic. In 0:43 there are still guitars and in 0:47 are the bass guitars coming
