Kindle 3 - any good as a web browser

Thanks for the review and showing the web browser. I just purchased the same device and thought I would point out a few things that others may find helpful. The kindle 3g keyboard is able to browse all websites (experimental mode) where they removed that on the new touch while on 3g broadband internet. Also, this is a free internet access world wide which is great when you just need to check emails, schedules or get some news. Speed tip. Try browsing mobile version sites. (example m.cnn.com)

Okay, it takes 1 and a half seconds to load wikipedia and its "still not fast enough". Thats quicker than the average PC. What do you want a little Kindle to do? Quite frankly I cannot wait to get my Kindle 3, it will do everything I actually need it to, read books, magazines, newspapers and do a bit of surfing. You sound like a spoilt brat sir.

I think it's pretty awesome that a book reader can get onto google's services which include gmail, calendar, photos and gps (google maps) - You can also get on Facebook + Twitter!

Load up the mobile version of BBC News for a faster and cleaner set up, much like you would on a phone!

of course you cant go on youtube, the kindle has such a slow refresh rate that videos are impossible., you get it to read books.. you get an IPad for youtube.

you can surf any web but some rich web apps wont work or will appear slow like facebook

Thank you so much! I agree it is the worst browser! I use it for audio books. I love my ii-phone better, but the battery on the one charge last longer, if you turn off wi-fi,

Have a small handy light nearby, for it does not have the backlight, like the phone for typing. I give it a 9!

@Pn0ybr3aker You can open YouTube, but you can't watch videos. Even if you could, you'd only be able to watch videos in 17 shades of grey. It's an ebook reader, not a web browser, and shouldn't be bought with web browsing at the top of your list of requirements.
