Thats scary and only a small avalanche. I was hoping he was going to grab the branch on the way by. That would definately make you think a lot afterwards about life.
sorry, but there is difference between being "caught" in an avalanche and causing one, I'm glad no one was hurt but anyone who knows snow wouldn't have gone up there on a loud machine like that.
Way stoked he made it out OK!!!! Bummer to experience that and can only assume his state of mind while watching those trees get closer. I would probably forget to pull the rip cord on my Avy pack too.
Have to say I agree with the music deal. Why was it necessary? In this case think the vid TOTALLY speaks for itself. With the music it almost appears to be like you're posting some really cool 'adventure' that someone needs to try to top.
Guess the only other thing don't put things out there if you're not thick-skinned enough to take the criticism.
@fastjimmy624 Lay off there Jimmy boy. The last thing youtube needs is another internet hero / youtube mouth off in the comment section. Bossrev is a serious sledder that shares important information to help keep people safe. Just keep your comments to yourself. Thanks.
@PHOTOSBYDRAPER Draper, No hero here. Just tryed to offer some constructive criticism in a way that was too harsh. For that, I'm sorry. Too many videos out there glamorize avys. To me, watching someone almost dying with cool music didn't go together. I should of known better that to comment. I am sorry that I offended and am really glad it turned out well for all involved. It's a sensitive subject to me having survived a slide myself. I think only those involved in one can undrstand. Peace!
Not a scary looking hill at first, but after watching that I'm definitely more aware of how small a hill it takes.... Glad you guys are alright!! Way to be prepared and smart!!
glad your buddy got out with only minor bumps and brushes...yeah i got caught in one of these "little" slides before....it's no fun, it's also a pretty helpless feeling not being able to move. always wear your beacon:)
I love the metal music like it was cool or something? Lucky to be alive I'd say. Glad all are O.K. Nothing cool about avys if your in 'em. (Been there, done that)) Loose the music so the vid becomes more of a learning tool and not just another jackass on You Tube!
@fastjimmy624 Can't say there is anything cool about being in an avy there jimmy. the music was meant to convey the emotion and feeling of being in such a horrible and violent event, as well as cover up the aftermath scenes and conversations. the full raw footage is pretty personal to those of us involved and weren't ready to show the world. However the Utah Avalanche center will recieve both hand held and pov footage to be used as a learning tool in future avy trainings......
@Bossrev I think the conversations during and after are really key in providing an educational experience. You could have muted the sound pretty easily. The heavy metal is very distracting.
Tim, aka Acmtncat aka summitgdc here on youtube was the rider.
He did jack up his knee but luckily that's all that is wrong. He was partially buried with his head exposed facing down hill. right leg was wrapped around a tree and he had 5 to 6 feet piled up on his legs and back. Sled got Banged up pretty good. We went and recovered the sled today. Took 1.5 hrs to dig out the sled and another 3 to get it back to the truck. smashed up the right side of the bulk head and tunnel.
Holy smokes. I can't believe that would be a dangerous spot, but it sure gave way! You were really cruisin when you hit those two poplar trees, that looked painful. Glad you could hang on and you look more-less ok!
That's pretty incredible footage. I'm glad you came out of it ok. Your sled looked like it took some damage, but it looks like you did too. What's scary is that it doesn't look like a slope I would think twice about climbing up.
Crazy video. I'm glad that everyone is ok. Any chance you can post the slide video without the music? Would be interesting to hear the avalanche a bit better.
Pretty sure the sled hit the same double tree I got stuck on. If I had gone to the right of it the sled would have crunched me at the moment of impact. Lucky lucky lucky...........
Makes me want to stay on the trail!
