To be honest, they say the ANBU are the best of the best, elite of the elite, chosen by the Hokage him/herself. Well, I've seen how good they are at least TWICE ONLY. The other times I saw them they were complete losers. What's the meanin' of this? Where's the 'elite of the elite' trash now? They're completly useless. @igjcan 1.They are very strong......1 on 1 they are suposed to be stronger than the jonins exept some tokubetsu jonins like kakashi.They can use a large variety of jutsus...conclusion:they are bad ass ;)

2 No they are not enemies....at least not hidden leaf's anbu unit

3. Each or most of the villages have an anbu unit...they are choosen by their kage and their goal is to protect the villege

Haku is an ANBU member too. He's in a special team called hunter nin which is exclusive to only the Village Hidden in the Mist. His job is to hunt down missing nin and destroy their body to make sure the village secret carried by them won't be known by outsiders.

Haku didn't kill Zabuza even when he's supposed to because that would mean killing his teacher and savior. He was orphaned since being a child and abandoned by everyone, Zabuza saved him from this painful lifestyle and gave him a new purpose. Then he devoted his life to serve Zabuza because that's the only way he can find some value in himself.
