Awesome videos man, i watched them all. I actully hav a 89 caprice with a fuel injected 305 5.0. I would love to do an lt1 swap but dont hav the space, tools and i nothin about engine electronics. If we can possibly work somthin out give me a plz....302 357 1133...names Karl
I had a friend who was a deputy sheriff that I rode along with several years ago and his patrol car was an '89 9C1 . Those cars had lots of power in them and I loved the roar the engine made when we cranked it up to catch speeders and go on emergency calls .
i watched all the videos man i have 1 85 caprice with a 4.3 fuel injected so im thinking this will be alot easier to do on mine then your just one quick question the factory innjectors on my car cant i just make a longer wire to run to each coil pack individually
good work! i got the same caprice but its 1987 305 engine i put on it a 350 from a 1988 chevy caprice i think its a 9c1 cz it has the 120mph speedo but i dnt knw how much hp it puts out? any help? btw my 700r4 is bad...any advice would help me plz watch my channel and help me bout it 10xx
dude my buddys got an lt1 motor thats in a truck right now the frame is is gone and i got a 2 door 86 caprice i want to put that motor in it ihope he will sell it
@nonstop454 Yea I wasn't as fast as I thought it would be, But I'm thinking its because I had to swap to the lower flowing Aluminum LT1 heads after the machine shop fubared my iron heads. If I would have used a different cam that would have made a big difference but the b body LT1 cam just didn't keep the valves open long enough to make up for the crappier intake ports. but Live and learn, can't wait to get better so I can finish my 77 I'm working on.
@CSXRockford i hear just what your sayin. but atleast you got away with a clean car right. more or less you got a clean straight car in your hands. just put a new cam in my truck and it surely made a change.
im not sure if anyone has answered questions on your off idle stumble, but i had the same problem until i changed out the mass airflow sensor. as for not going into overdrive, i would check solenoids in the transmission. my only source of knowledge is owning one and fixing these on a friends caprice.
I'm torn and need advise....have a 94 Z28 LT1, everything works just fine, found a 72 C/10 roller...thinking of swapping LT1 and 4L60E. What about wheel speed sensors? Are they tied into the shift points of tranny? ANY advise would be appreciated. (Nice cop car by the way)
I have a 78 impala coupe with 305. I would love to drop a lt1 and a 4l60e. I can get a 383 stroker built for 2,200$ at a local machine shop and drop it in a day by myself. How much of a pain in the ass is a lt1 swap vs. A carb small block swap? I'm talkin modifications ie.. Computer issues and cost in making it compatible and able to run. I can get a lt1 and trans for around a grand, a harness for around 300$ obdii reflash for around 250$. What else is involved? Please tell me.
I'm dropping a '94 Caprice Wagon LT1 into my '90 Caprice Classic.
I'm hoping for similar results. These videos are gonna help me out some. Thanks for posting! Did you ever figure out what to do with that cable-driven speedo? I'm swapping out my 200-4R with the 4L60 as well.
I'm diggn' this thing more and more....glad to see it finally moves under it's own power! As far as the transmission goes, you might give IndyShiftman from Bangshift a holler...I'm certain he could point you in the right direction!
Yea, when I unplugged the knock sensors, to see about the missing problem it started shifting into overdrive at a more normal speed. so I'm sure its something in the programing.
True...:( you would have to spend quite a bit in order to get a 5 speed with enough beef...But it could be done. I think somewhere in my fav'es there is an impala with a 5 speed, cool video but you would have to look through all the crown Vic vids to find it..lol
