The best accel times 4 the old Challenger (426 hemi or 440 six-pack were around 13.7 @ 105-106 (1/4 mile) with 0-60 in the low 5's. Top speed maybe 140's. The current SRT8 Challenger does 60 in the high 4's and the 1/4 mile around 13-13.3 at 108-110 mph with top speed of 173. Data from old car mags/new car mags and SRT engineer. A modded old Challenger -that's another story. Above #s for showroom stock.

automatic gearbox is nice if you have a diesel car.. they dont pull hard on high rpm.. sucks to change gears 4times in 200m.. my car is a 5gear petrol.. I always give it lots of rmp and jump over gears..
And you do realize an automatic can shift faster than any manual driver can..and can shift more accurate to the precise rpm you set it too..I will admit, a manual is fun..however, don't criticize an automatic for not performing when it can..

I think it looks cool, sounds cool, but those are pretty disappointing numbers for an SRT8. 0 to 60 in 5.5? quarter mile in 13.8 from a 6.1L 425 HP Hemi? The SRT8 Grand Cherokee is faster with the same motor. A bone stock Nissan 350Z with a 3.5 V6 with 287 HP would match these times.

According to edmunds, 350z 13.6 @ 103.0, Impreza wrx 13.3 @ 102.4, Mitsu evo 13.6 @ 101.3, BMW 335i 13.4 @ 103.9, not to mention all the cars that can beat these examples.(and there are many) Even the chevy cobalt ss does 14.0 @ 103.6. If you like the looks of the challenger, thats fine cuz I like it too. But to say this car "kicks ass", must be that nostalgic muscle car love blinding you from the truth.

So what your saying is the only scenario in which the challenger can win is a race from 100km/h on up (in a straight line). Sounds like your admitting the challenger would lose by all other performance standards. (0-60, 1/4mile, slalom, braking, skidpad, etc..) Don't worry though, the mustang and camaro are the competition, and from what I've read, they ain't shit either. So buck-up little camper, lots of guys have little dicks.
